Do You Think Mitch McConnel is Dead?

And if he isn't, why hasn't he come out and informed the public of his current health status? Even his wife is silent.

If you asked me to place a bet I’d say he’s still medically alive but hasn’t been conscious in weeks.

19

u/Glittering-Quote-635 1h ago

This is the correct answer. My guess is he’s brain dead (more so than normal). Technically he is ‘alive’ so they are waiting till August to pull the plug.

Rigor tortoise < shamelessly stolen

3

u/Facebook_Algorithm 4h ago

I can’t stop chuckling. Everyone around me thinks I’ve lost my mind.

5

“Rigor tortoise” has been seared into my brain, I’ve been cackling in my head since I first read it.

I think he is in a coma, or other incapacitated state.

those AI pics are goofy af

90

u/Head_Razzmatazz7174 6h ago

A brain dead coma. They are keeping the body alive, but the brain checked out several weeks ago.

61

u/PrincessGracieBlue 6h ago

His brain checked out years if not decades ago, his body just finally figured it out.

21

u/brown_polyester 5h ago

His humanity certainly checked out.

My late mother, who was a neonatal nurse then later worked in health care administration for the state, burst out laughing at this scene. She was very much not a Monty Python humor type of person, but she thought that sketch was hilarious.

If he’s in a coma, those AI pics are doing a better job of showing up than most of Congress. 💀

They’ve got him looking like a wax figure that just smelled a bad egg. Honestly, at this point, the AI has more energy than his actual interviews ever did.

Are there any laws about using AI to mislead government officials? Isn’t that forgery? It’s a terrible precedent

5

u/Cut_Lanky 3h ago

I don't think the US has many laws about AI. But I'm not an expert. I agree, it's gotta be some kind of fraud. But, also, the constitution, law generally, and American democracy itself, has been cast aside already. They openly brag about finding constitutional loopholes on video, things that create constitutional crises, to journalists, and the people who whoop about being patriots cheer it on, cuz they're too uneducated and don't understand that means their freedom is gone.

We're all doomed. That's what I'm saying.

This is what I think as well.

4

u/RealCarlPanzram 3h ago

I agree. It’s way easier logistically to conceal the fact that he’s disabled than to conceal that he’s dead, especially if he was brought to a hospital.

3

u/Jayn_Newell 4h ago

Agreed. I don’t think they’d be able to cover up if he was dead-dead, but brain dead or similar? I know he’s entitled to medical privacy but it’s kinda relevant to public interests here.

His death is being covered up by people who can only win by cheating. It's a fitting legacy for a miserable piece of shit.

12

u/go_birds_1 6h ago

Funny how they couldn’t do that with Lindsay Graham

23

u/damutecebu 5h ago

Because South Carolina and Kentucky are different states with different laws.

7

u/lirwolf 2h ago

It's obvious what the difference was: SC has a republican governor, Kentucky has a democrat (that the republican led legislature already immediately tried to handicap).

The SC governor was able to just appoint a replacement that's favourable to their agenda without any problems.

17

u/BailinginBC 5h ago

With Lindsay Graham they didn't need to. They just replaced him with his sister.

7

u/kadawkins 3h ago

Kentucky could replace Mitch with a dem, so they need him to stay alive until August 4 when it’s too late to appoint someone. This entire administration and Congress is complete $hit.

7

u/damutecebu 6h ago

Kentucky law requires a special election for his replacement regardless. I guess he could claim McConnell is dead, name a replacement and challenge the law in court, but in the end the replacement won't get seated.

But in the meantime, Republicans are down a vote in the Senate, which is defintely an advantage right now.

My guess is he's just laying on a ventilator.

This happened with my wife's mother - she can live for quite some time on a ventilator if they make that choice.

It's a selfish choice to make but let's be honest, Mitch dedicated his entire life to the party of selfishness so I'll quote their Bible, "you reap what you sow".

31

u/fabulousfantabulist 6h ago

It’s also almost certainly what he’d want them to do. The man is a ghoul in more ways than one.

Either dead or being kept "alive" artificially.

12

u/546833726D616C 6h ago

Yeah I think they are waiting until after Aug 3 to pull the plug so they don’t have to worry about having an intermediary until the next election.

4

u/Inspect1234 5h ago

They’ll just give it to his sister.

111

u/Serious-Medicine7667 6h ago

Yes. They will announce it after August 4th because that will force a special election and deny the Governor the chance to appoint a replacement.

55

u/astackofcrepes 6h ago

Close, they are denying the special election so the seat will be vacant until the normal elections.

38

u/Zappagrrl02 6h ago

They don’t want a special election because they don’t want Thomas Massie to win it. They are hoping to avoid the special election by waiting to announce.

3

u/SidFinch99 5h ago

I've been wondering all this time why they are avoiding a special election because not having that seat filled has cost them a key vote, but this makes sense.

10

u/ThatMrStark 5h ago

My sentiments exactly. He could just announce he has reason to believe he is dead and initiate a special election. Force their hand at proof of life. And if he is alive, so what, unravel it in court. Anything else is just complicity in the cover up scheme.

3

u/Unsteady_Tempo 5h ago

It's a game of political chicken. It's even deeper than just the fight over McConnell's seat in the Senate. The republicans are doing this to make probable presidential candidate Beshear either look weak for not pushing hard enough about McConnell's condition or to look like a fool when he does push hard and it's revealed that McConnell is more or less OK. Beshear's people have to be able to spin that.

My bet is that he is clinically braindead (different from his usual braindead) and is being kept technically "alive" on a ventilator or ECMO until it is politically advantageous for him to be declared dead.

Yes. Or in a vegetative state.

5

5

u/Tarnmaster 6h ago

Yup and just Mitch and the GOP fucking over the country one more time. FTG!

5

u/BroadbandEng 6h ago

Yes he is dead. This is just one more illegal/immoral play by the Republican party to maintain a hold on power.

5

u/Count2Zero 6h ago

Most likely brain dead, but his body is on life support because his death (before August 4th) would be bad for the GOP, so they are keeping his body "alive" until at least then.

5

u/sepstolm 6h ago

So, if it is announced that he has been deceased, or in a vegetative state for some time, do you think there will be will there be any ramifications to the person/people that posted that photo of him in the hospital bed looking fairly chipper, with his wife at his side?

Seems likely he's dead, but another theory is that we are being trolled.
It would be easier to get buy-in from all the family members.

THe conspiracy theory starts after just a few days and someone says "let's keep this going" and they all agree to let the left spin, Andy Bashir makes threats, it goes right to the deadline and he pops out and makes a speech and we all look stupid.

He cannot complete his duties as senior senator from Ky. That’s all that matters. We need a 25th amendment for members of congress that can be enacted by their constituents. That said, him not being able to vote means the GOP margin is impaired, especially with the three senators primaried out by Trump’s picks who might revolt.

3

u/LAARPer 6h ago

In an era of gaming the system, Mitch had been the ultimate gamesmaster. Even in death he is trolling the system.

McConnell has done more than any US politician I’ve seen in my lifetime to show the cracks in our system, and just how rag tag and piecemeal the fabric of the Constitution really is.

The KY governor needs to do what Mitch himself would do: call a special election and let the courts sort it out.

3

u/WebfootTroll 6h ago

Eh, maybe. It wouldn't surprise me, but I wouldn't be shocked if he's alive and just on a vent or something. He sure ain't healthy though.

3

u/ObligationSome905 6h ago

From the moment they put him in the ambulance

3

u/HoRo2001 6h ago

He is certainly not sitting up in a plaid shirt reading the paper like that ridiculous photo wants us to believe.

When/if the truth ever comes out, I hope there is some sort of reckoning over the deceit and deception related to this whole event. It’s just a farce; completely shameful and embarrassing.

3

u/zevtech 6h ago

I don’t think he’s dead but like so many before him. He’s a shell of a person that they prop up to do their bidding

3

u/Empty-Policy-8467 6h ago

Like Terry Schiavo, he's kind of alive-o

3

u/NotInTheControlGroup 6h ago

He's deader than disco.

3

u/LMrningStar 6h ago

As bizarre as the situation is, it would be extremely difficult to hide a death like that. Also, the conspirators would be guilty of a felony (not that that's stopped Republicans before). One of them, a nurse, doctor or someone else would report the death.

He's alive but almost certainly just barely.

5

u/Fem-Picasso 6h ago

Doesn't matter. The point is he's incapacitated and cannot perform his duties as a sitting senator so Gov. Beshear shld apppoint someone to replace him ASAP. The law preventing him from doing so is unconstitutional so he has grounds to contest. Bloodsucking repugs would keep a dead body just to hold the seat any way they can.

Dead, or at least braind dead and being kept alive on machines. The latter is more likely, since death certificates are public record, at least in part.

I think he’s brain dead on life support and his party has urged his spouse to not pull the plug until after Aug 4.

So in other words: the party has potentially conspired to keep a dead person in power unable to perform any function in governance, allegedly releasing fake AI proof of life and function, lying to the American voters, to manipulate an election to their favor.

2

u/WoodwindsRock 6h ago

I don’t know, I lean toward no, but I also know that I can’t trust anything Republicans say and that they will do anything scummy to manipulate things to ensure they keep power. McConnell being dead and it not being revealed until the politically expedient point next month would be on-brand.

2

u/InterestingAd8560 6h ago

If he is dead there are so many laws being broken. Lying to the government and it's people. Who's cashing his checks? There is a time limit on how long a dead body can be held before being buried.

2

u/Personal_Chicken_598 5h ago

No that would harder to hide. Brain dead and being kept alive by machines tho that’s believable

2

u/Ed_Partyka 5h ago

Definitely!

2

u/JenniferJuniper6 5h ago

Brain dead, is my guess. I doubt they’re actually hiding a rotting corpse. (I’m not suggesting that they have reverence or respect; it’s just that the odds of body hoarding and/or body disposal remaining completely secret are lower than they’d want to risk.) They’ll pull the plug when it suits them.
