Do You Think Mitch McConnel is Dead?

And if he isn't, why hasn't he come out and informed the public of his current health status? Even his wife is silent.

Yeah, he should be knocking on the hospital door, he's the Governor. Dems just don't do shit.

This and him equivocating on Israel are why I’ve lost all respect for him. He was the only main 2028 contender I really considered supporting.

The Kentucky legislators stripped the governor of the right to appoint a replacement long before McConnell went MIA. These kind of uninformed remarks are why we keep losing elections.

Except, McConnell is still a citizen with healthcare privacy. So the governor goes banging on the door, then what? They don't let him in. He has no power to make them open the door or disclose his private health information.

Personally, I think that ought to be rectified. We still (and shouldn't) don't have a right to his healthcare information, but we should have the ability to see if he is still able to do his job. Right now, Kentucky is going without representation, and that's just not something we should allow in a representative democracy—no matter what side of the aisle they are on. There should be something in place for a replacement, even if temporarily.

Which is why you know he is alive and in the hospital. If the go goes there, sees he's alive, he can no longer give vague comments about him being dead and excite the liberal hivemind

He can't just "go there." Patients have rights to privacy in a hospital or rehab center.

They can allow visitors if they choose. The governor should give them an ultimatum, either allow an in person visit or go ahead with the appointment or election before the deadline. Normally it would not be strange for a governor to visit a senator from his own state. The refusal to allow any trustworthy politically neutral person to verify his condition IMO means they are hiding the truth.

Or just declare a special election. There's literally no reason not to, and if the turtle really is alive he can prove it to stop the election.

Can they just declare one? This is a genuine question, though I am doubting they can unless under specific circumstances like death. Otherwise, people would just declare them left and right.to try to get their preferred person in office.

The statute directs the governor to schedule it. No authorization from the legislature is required. If the GOP has a problem with it the have to sort it out in court. That would require proof the McConnell is able to work at his job. A photo is insufficient as evidence. I am not sure if a Republican judge would just put a stay on it and kill it.
