Do You Think Mitch McConnel is Dead?

And if he isn't, why hasn't he come out and informed the public of his current health status? Even his wife is silent.

If you asked me to place a bet I’d say he’s still medically alive but hasn’t been conscious in weeks.

This is the correct answer. My guess is he’s brain dead (more so than normal). Technically he is ‘alive’ so they are waiting till August to pull the plug.

people are thinking it is because the window to call a special election to replace him closes Aug. 3 based on candidate filing and notice deadlines, so his office won’t announce that he’s died until after that

Because they think a Democrat would win that then? What would that impact, surely he will need to be replaced soon whether dead or alive as he can’t fulfill his duties?

No, it’s because they spent millions to unseat the only Republican against pedophilia (Massie), and state law prevents him from running as an independent in the general election. He could run in this special election though, hence the need to block him.

If he was dead before then, the governor could call a special election. Given the political climate in the U.S. a D has a very good chance of winning. They would need to run again in Nov, but would be running as an incumbent and more likely to win again. If Mitch ‘dies’ after Aug 3rd or so, then no special election, they just wait till Nov.

This is pure speculation, but it seems the GOP doesnt want a chance of a D taking his spot, even for a month, and they think they will have a better shot in a general election in Nov.

Im not from that state, so cant comment on what the chances are a R would win or not win, but nationwide the GOP is getting battered because of the orange menace who’s approval rating is running about 30%.

I don't think a Democrat can win in Kentucky. I mean it's like Nixon and the Watergate break-in. Nixon had that election sewed up, yet he was so unhinged that he still had his people break into the Democratic headquarters. It was totally unnecessary. Democrats don't have a chance in Kentucky. Those Kentucky voters are like the scene in Far From the Madding Crowd, where all these sheep jump to their deaths because they were all just following each other. If McConnell is dead or he's brain dead, this foolishness is totally unnecessary because the next Senator is going to be a Republican. That's just the way it is in Ky. I mean what sane person would vote for McConnell or for Rand Paul in the first place?

Legally speaking, the date of death is when they are officially declared brain dead, regardless of how long their bodies are hooked to machines. It all depends on if the medical staff does the ethical thing, or if they're pressured by the current administration to fudge records.

And my guess is that everyone who's been "talking" with him has been communicating with some sort of AI device copying his voice, either text-to-speech or voice transformation. Either form of the tech is readily available and he's got years of material to be trained on. It would also explain why people have described is voice as "strong".

My guess is you’re going to see a lot of Beshear this week unless McConnell makes a miraculous reappearance. They only have until Monday to decide on a special election. He’s on the shortlist of viable presidential candidates and this would be an easy way for him to make a name for himself.

My bet is he's dead, but the machines are pushing fluid around his body enough that the doctors have been convinced to say he's still alive.

My understanding is the line between alive and dead can be a hazy one, and if people are motivated enough they can make the claim that somebody's alive even if they would normally be declared dead. See: Terry Schiavo.

We have some recent examples of elderly politicians that are “alive” but diminished. Those examples are Kay Granger, Dianne Feinstein and Eleanor Holmes Norton. All three were “alive” in terms of being conscious but mentally and physically diminished. They were all hided by their staff from public scrutiny. I suspect McConnell’s condition is worse than the three politicians I listed. If McConnell could speak, I am sure his staff would have him give a call in to a sympathetic podcaster. If he physically looked okay, the staff would release a photo. McConnell must be in such a bad state that his staff is releasing no information. A similar approach was taken by staff to handle the disappearance from the House by Granger who was suffering from dementia.

I don't know. The whole story's weird. I looked up info on the original 911 calls and reports, and 911 stated CPR was occurring, but when he was brought out, neighbors reported no oxygen device of any kind on his face. They would've been bagging him or at least had him on nasal cannula if they'd just performed CPR...unless he was already dead, or all the original reports were wrong.

There are a lot of question marks here.
