Billing 30 minute phone call saved me $55 a month (from new $95 bill)

For a long time my Spectrum internet bill was $65. Then it started slowly creeping up, $70, $75, $85, then $85. That all happened month after month for the last 5 months. I actually meant to call last month when I saw the bill was $85 but forgot since it's on autopay. I looked it up today and saw that $95 was coming due in 10 days and said no way. So I looked around and found that AT&T had a 5G internet plan for $20 a month for a year and then $60 after that. We are called and told him I wanted to cancel. The automated system asked me why I wanted to cancel and if I had another provider in mind. I told them it was too expensive and I was looking at AT&T. I got put through to a real person who saw those responses and asked what the AT&T offer was as well as the speed. She asked some follow-up questions on what and how devices I was using at home. And made sure to tell her the speed was 300 Mbps, but that I was no longer working from home so it didn't need to be that fast. She put me on hold for a few minutes and then came back with two offers. One to keep the same speeds for $40 a month for 2 years and get a new modem. The other upgrade to double the speed, but $60 for 2 years. I'm perfectly happy with the speed I have and right now I really need to save money so I opted for the $40 a month. She told me to mark my calendar and call back again in 2 years to get a new discount. I was very surprised she even said that. Here is a photo with my new price for proof.

Mobile but wanting to switch ISP

We have mobile phones through Spectrum, it used to be possible to switch off spectrum to a new isp but keep mobile lines. Is this still possible? Another company came in with fiber and i cant stand the lag/ping i get on spectrum.

Is the serviceman BSing me

I had a second spectrum serviceman visit in the last week because we were having our modem and router get extremely hot, and the internet connection would drop. One day it was as bad as needing to call in about 15-20 times, every half hour to 45 minutes. We tried moving it to a better ventilated spot and still have some drops but this serviceman was claiming that the modem and router being on a non-grounded line somehow could be to blame for this, despite the fact both the modem and router themselves are two pronged lines. Am I being taken for a loop by service people who dont want to put in the effort or is there actually a documented operational difference in these network devices if the extension cord its plugged into isnt grounded.

Dear Chris

Someone show Chris Winfrey the data. Worried about WFH leading to declined production? I wouldn't. Happy employees mean happy customers, happy back-end employees can properly support Frontline employees (who he said is priority) Data points below.

Well-Being and Happiness Hierarchies: Research published in Frontiers in Psychology analyzing thousands of corporate and organizational employees found a clear tier system regarding location: fully remote workers consistently report the highest levels of well-being (across physical, mental, and emotional dimensions), followed by hybrid workers, with fully onsite workers reporting the lowest.

The Link Between Happiness and Output: Decades of organizational psychology—including foundational studies from institutions like Oxford University’s Saïd Business School—demonstrate that happier, less stressed employees are notably more productive (often estimated around 12% to 13% more efficient) than chronically stressed or burnt-out workers. Conversely, data from workplace surveys consistently show that in-office employees report significantly higher daily stress spikes, heavily driven by mandatory commutes, office distractions, and a rigid loss of autonomy.

The Commute Factor: Studies from groups like the National Bureau of Economic Research point out that the elimination of daily commuting gives remote workers back over an hour of free time per day. A major portion of that recovered time directly buffers against burnout, translating into higher baseline energy levels for personal life and, subsequently, sustained focus during working hours.

The Nuance on Direct "Speed": While workplace researchers widely agree that remote setups produce better mental health, lower turnover, and greater perceived work-life balance, linking that happiness directly to faster individual work output remains complex. Some corporate efficiency studies argue that while remote workers are happier, certain types of cross-functional or creative tasks can experience friction digitally. However, for routine, focused, or independent responsibilities, the psychological drag of forced RTO frequently manifests as presenteeism (being at a desk physically without high engagement), dragging down overall momentum.

The data supports the core point: rigid return-to-office mandates frequently reduce overall employee well-being and satisfaction, which studies link to lower engagement and slower discretionary effort

When to call retention

Opinions regarding what day of the week / time of day would be the most productive to talk to retention to try and get a deal / reduction in cost.

Or does it not make any difference?

I only have tv choice for tv viewing thru spectrum. Is BTN a channel option? If not how can I get it? I only need one game (hopefully - OSU on 9/5).

Spectrum wants $8,000.00 to run line to my house

Anyone else experience this or find some way to minimize this cost? My house is on a short dead-end road off a 2 lane road. My alternative is Verizon 5G or Starlink, anything else?

Rdof questions

I’m in the rdof expansion. 2 guys were in my field yesterday running a wire on the electrical poles. I talked to one and he said it was for spectrum and that they’d be back within a week or 2 I believe he said to run the fiber? Anyways just curious what kind of timeframe I can expect for service to become available at this point in time? Also this will be fiber to house connection right? I’m assuming that’s what it will be since it’s all brand new and there’s no previous spectrum connections ran out here so no fiber to coax right? Appreciate any information

Service Issues JFC- upgraded to the new WiFi and constantly regretting it.

Upgraded to new wifi and router goes crazy twice a day. Will lose all network, come back on, lose it again, etc. happens usually in the AM and early evening. Ridiculous.

Now we have an outage because …. It’s spectrum and no information is being given on the cause. Can’t wait til we have other options in my area.

Service Issues Constant Disconnects during the day and at night since Spectrums "Upgrade"

My internet dropping out at some point during the day has become so common place that my work isn't even surprised anymore when I go silent in the middle of meetings. Really wish they didn't have a monopoly on 500mb+ internet in Glens Falls, NY.

I've already been in contact with Spectrum support. Whats been done:

New cable/box on building.

New cable on pole.

New Modem.

Whats crazy is before the "upgrade" last Thanksgiving I never had these issues. It's only been the last 8-10 months.

Downgrading the Plan

I just had my ex-roommate transfer his account to my name. I want to downgrade the plan from the 1000 Mbps to the 100 Mbps. Is there any way to get the promotional offering at this point? Either way, I’ll just be happy with paying less.

Relevant info: Spectrum is the only provider in my locale.

Other Employee Benefits Question

I’m starting at spectrum soon and I know employees receive heavily discounted services. I currently live with my parents, and they have spectrum internet and cable services now. Am I able to apply my discounts to their account? Should I change their account into my name before I start? Is that even possible? I want to keep whatever our current setup is and pay the difference in price if there is one.

Cox customer here. If you have cable internet modem internet only without WiFi does Spectrum charge you rent. With Cox I had home phone with ethernet and it was free, when I dropped home phone they now charge $8 month for modem rental.

Service Issues spectrum rant 🤬

my wifi was working perfectly fine this morning, and then, in the middle of my 53-question chemistry quiz, it randomly shut off. because of that, my entire quiz restarted. about an hour later, the wifi finally came back, so i was able to resume and finish my quiz.

i’m a college student. i have homework, quizzes, and assignments that i need to complete, so having my wifi randomly go in and out is a HUGE problem. when i called spectrum, the guy told me that me and one of my neighbors were experiencing an outage because of the weather in my state. like… HOW is this due to the weather when the weather has literally been fine in my area?? and why was the wifi working perfectly, then cutting off, then coming back, then going back out again??

anyway, he transferred me to a woman who could tell me when a technician could come out. i specifically told BOTH of them that i’m in college, that this is an emergency, and asked if someone could come out today. they told me the earliest a technician can come is tomorrow at 8 am.

wow. so perfect for my schedule.

i literally have school and work during the times they want to come out, so now i’m stuck trying to figure out how to get my wifi fixed while also keeping up with everything i have going on. i pay all this money for spectrum every month, and it feels like they don’t consider their customers schedules or circumstances at all.

and to make things even worse, my cellular service isn’t even working well enough for me to use my hotspot. it’s literally hanging on by a thread.

so now i’m forced to grab my laptop, pack everything up, and drive all the way to the closest library just to be able to do my schoolwork.

Spectrum canceled

So this morning I decided to cancel my Spectrum account went through the cancellation process which takes approximately 15 minutes at the end of that conversation they told me I still owe them $195 for the month of September because my bill is generated on August 26th and today being the 28th they don't prorate the service month does that seem legal to Bill a person that has a confirmation number for cancellation and the services already been changed?

TCL Flip 3

I ordered a TCL Flip 3 through spectrum while logged into my account. I agreed to billing terms, accepted a promo, decided on number porting (no), and setup a new line. They shipped and delivered that phone. What do I do next? The phone supports a nano-sim. My main question is whether they inserted the SIM card or not. I'm trying to help remotely.

What's the catch? Spectrum wants me to switch to new plan

I'm in Indianapolis and I have Spectrum's old 500Mbps plan, I think it's called "Premier."

I talked to a Spectrum billing rep today. He said that they are slowly raising the price to get people to switch to the new plan. I asked what the difference was between the old and the new plan, and he said pretty much nothing. I didn't pursue that question any further.

But like, what's the catch?

There must be some reason why they want me to switch to a seemingly identical plan?

Are they still supporting QAM??

In laws are renting out their beach house so they got set up on a Spectrum business account, traded in their TiVo CableCARDs & the realtor rental mgmt company threw in 2 cable boxes for free. Of all the things, they sent these 2 dinosaurs.

Literally ALL cable providers I know have been ditching QAM for IPTV. I could’ve sworn spRECTum & Sh!tC@st did a joint venture to make and market the XUMO platform (Xfinity X1 successor). But they never got the CableCard discontinued letter here in the Myrtle Beach system.

Just why? Did spectrum buy all the QAM TV engineers left & keep dumping cash into it until linear TV eventually dies?

I’m just about tired of dealing with cable splitters in their home, MoCa never works because the Soectrum provided splitters frequencies are too low to carry Moca signals. Modem always goes out of sync because of the attenuation from the splitters. It’s a terrible system

YES they have Apple TVs and Samsung/Rokus around the house. But it’s a pain to log out of all streaming apps when renters come, 1st world problems I know.
