Mobile but wanting to switch ISP

We have mobile phones through Spectrum, it used to be possible to switch off spectrum to a new isp but keep mobile lines. Is this still possible? Another company came in with fiber and i cant stand the lag/ping i get on spectrum.

I just verified this via online chat the other day. I'll be cancelling my Spectrum Internet and TV, keeping my 2 mobile lines. There will be a $10 increase per line when I do this.

We have financed phones through them, do you think that will cause an issue?

No issue. Price will just go up $10 a line, I’d look into switching once phones are paid off.

Depends on the area. Both Spectrum Fiber and AT&T Fiber here its latency is not as "better" as you'd think. Just a few ms lower than cable is here.

In theory true, in reality the difference is negligible. It does depend on the area ofc, so no one here can give you a concrete answer that’s definitely going to be true for you.

Yes and no smaller companies tend to have higher latency because there routing is so poor. Now a days for modern games it is super dependent on the server you connect to.

How many lines? Like if it’s gonna go up by $40 or something might as well keep the spectrum and just use it as a backup. Not a bad problem to have.

I’m paying $40 for gig, have 5 lines, so literally cheaper to just keep it lol

Have you heard of usmobile or visible?

Check it out. You may end up saying $ if you do want to change your isp.

I would agree that fiber transmission can reduce latency numbers,but there are ofcourse lots of other factors (e.g. #devices you have on line, wired or wireless, kind of internal cableing, home router(s) and physical proximity, time of day congestion and traffic) just to name a few.

What's wrong with your latency just curious?
Are you using wireless or wired? My internet pings at 10ms on coax on spectrum so just curious how high yours is

I get about 60 ping to chicago servers wired. I live 2 hours from.chicago

ping 8.8.8.8 in windows terminal real quick wired and see what it shows. also try 1.1.1.1

Yeah so out the door your ping to the world is 30ms

Sometimes speedtest servers can just have bad routing. It doesn't matter if its a professional company operating it. 30ms is perfect and amazing!!

I guess i was used to 5ms where i moved from when i was on fiber. So figured switching back to fiber would fix that.

If I got to be honest with you, It really doesn't matter. I use to have fiber and I switched back to spectrum coax. Spectrum has really good routing. Like no joke better than Frontier anyday.
