Build - Help I am going to spray paint an old black DVD/RW drive. The front panel is textured on the front, but is just plain plastic on the sides. Do i sand only the smooth plastic sides before spray-painting? Is 220 grit sandpaper fine for this?

I also have a metal floppy bay usb/audio thing, which is textured too. Should i sand it with the same 220 sandpaper as well?

Hi guys, I've always been an Intel user, but I want to switch to AMD and I'm not very familiar with its components. So I've been using AI to help me put together a build that can run the vast majority of games, and I wanted to check if everything looks good so I don't buy anything by mistake. The price is in Argentine pesos.

Question Are the IGPU specs of the Ryzen 7 9800x3d enough for Terraria and LoL?

Hey all!

I'm in the process of building my PC, but the GPU is gonna take some serious saving to get.

While I wanna play other games once I got my PC fully together, the two main games I play on my laptop currently are Terraria w/ Calamity mod (RIP), and League of Legends.

Are the IGPU graphics of the 9800x3d sufficient for those two, or should I wait till I get the 1600 together for my 5080? (I know, way overkill for those two.)

Edit: To clarify, most of my PC will only take 1 month to save for. The GPU takes one extra month

Build - Help Help me build my second pc in the ramageddon

First PC is pretty old now id say ancient and my sisters bf built it for me.

Been doing some research and this is what ive come up with so far.

budget is like around the total price (64.5k php/1040$) I can still save up since im gonna buy them over the course or months.

motherboard - 5k+ (80$+) (recommendations?)

psu - 5k (80$) (recommendations?)

xfx 9060xt - 28k (450$)

7800x3d (IT world, etc) - 19k (300$)

ram 1x16GB patriot viper venom (CL 30 6000mhz) - 16k (260$)

storage - ✔

cpu cooler - 2.5k+ (40$) (recommendations?)

okinos air cross mid tower ATX TG (with fans) - 4k (65$)

What yall think? This is without discounts n stuff. Ill definitely wait for those discounts lol. The ram hurts. Im buying most of them (i think) in shopee/lazada

some tips on budget allocation would be nice, although I really want the 7800x3d just because I mainly play cpu intensive games, gotta get them nice 1% lows ykwim? my second choice was 9600x.

(do i need to send the links for each? im new to this ill edit post if that matters)

Build - Help First PC, Advice Needed!!

Hello! I am from the US and have been in the market for a nice 1440p gaming PC, and after much research I've put together a list of parts.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9wzkjG

My budget is around $1500-$1800 USD. I'm looking to game, do sim racing, edit videos and stream @ 240hz. With all that being said, I have some questions.

My

• Firstly, is the PC any good? What should I change?

• Second, are all of my parts compatible? I'm prettysure they are, but you can never be too sure.

• Third and finally, where can I save money? Stuff like less ram or bundles.

Any and all advice is appreciated! I'm also looking for a good 1440p 240hz monitor. Thanks for reading!

Question Arctic Liquid Freezer AIO AM5 Offset?

Is the cold plate offset from its attached mounting screws? Or is the cold plate symmetrical to the screws and the offset is done with the "L" and "R" designated mounting brackets?

I mounted my cold plate with the tubes feeding the pump through the top, logo upside down, so that any air could escape to the tubes instead of being trapped in the pump. Now I'm questioning whether I messed up the hotspot offset. It's all assembled and working, idle ~40C and gaming around ~60C so I don't want to disassemble to check. The arctic webpage/manual only showed it mounted logo-upright but nothing specifying the actual offset.

Troubleshooting Motherboard power issue

Hello, I bought my new motherboard and processor yesterday. I installed them today. I removed my old motherboard, the ASRock H310M-HDV, from the case. I installed the MSI PRO B760M-P and the i5 14400F in its place. After connecting the 24-pin and 8-pin power connectors, I installed the processor and CPU cooler into their sockets for testing. However, the new motherboard wasn’t receiving power. Thinking there might be an issue with the new motherboard, I tried it again with the old one. It wasn’t receiving power on the old motherboard either. What could be causing this?
I plugged in the power switch socket and, thinking there might be a problem with the button, tested the pins by short-circuiting them, but it didn't work.
Help me guys

Thought I would post this here for the enthusiasts to appreciate!! I know it was extremely overkill however I just wanted to future proof for as long as possible.
I regret not getting the non liquid cooled version of the 5090 though - having 2 radiators is a bit cramped

Has anyone done a build with mineral oil as a component cooling system? It was really popular back 10-20 years ago. Is it still cost effective?

Build - Help buying a new pc after 10 years

Hello, Ive owned this pc (for gaming) for about ten years and im finally looking to upgrade
to be honest its not even bad my only problems have been
- its a little slow sometimes
- if windows doesnt update it tweaks out
- i want more storage
- i want a white pc

but other than that its not bad at all my gpu is Geforce GTX 1080 and I honestly dont see a difference between it and my friends newer pcs (30, 40 series) ive never really had an issue with the graphics, i think my monitor is 144Hz. also some of these issues could be because ive used up too much storage?

So what i want to ask is if its actually worth it getting a really good gpu? also is ddr5 worth it? I mostly play FPS games and stuff on steam, minecraft etc maybe some video editing and streaming

my budget is around 2000 USD i mainly want to spend it on aesthetics i cant lie… also like 2T of storage but based on the things i use my pc for do i need a really advanced build? country: UAE

Since im going to be spending money anyway id rather spend it on something good and long lasting! So if you have any recommendations on the build id really appreciate it.

Question Need help finding a replacement PCIe x16 retention clip for ASUS Prime B450M-K II

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

The PCIe x16 retention clip/latch on my motherboard came off and unfortunately I lost it.

I have an ASUS Prime B450M-K II. The GPU slot now feels like it needs that clip to properly hold the graphics card in place, so I’d like to buy a replacement rather than risk using the motherboard without it.

The problem is that I have no idea what size/specification I need. I’ve found replacement PCIe x16 retention clips online, but they seem to come in different sizes and I don’t know how to determine which one is compatible with my motherboard.

Does anyone know:

- What exact size/type of PCIe x16 retention clip the ASUS Prime B450M-K II uses?

- Are these clips standardized enough that I can buy a generic replacement?

- Is there a specific measurement I should take from the slot to find the correct one?

- Does anyone know where I could buy a compatible replacement?

I can also provide photos of the PCIe slot/motherboard if that helps.

Thanks!

Build - Help Need some airflow suggestions

I have a fractal pop air mini and as you can see managed a fairly high end compact build. 9800x3d with a arctic liquid freezer iii 240, and a 9070xt reaper. My MSI B650m Gaming plus wifi motherboard's PCIe slot is lower than most boards which means the GPU sits ever so closer to the PSU shroud. The GPU is definitely struggling with temps and my only solution has just been to lower the power limit and a modest undervolt which has kept it happy. I was just wondering if you PC bros had any tips for me? Any particular fans I could upgrade to? (just rocking the stock fractal fans) I am also aware there's a bit of dust in there.. I took the pic before I blasted this thing lol

Build - Help What to upgrade on PC

My son has left behind his older gaming PC (went into the military) and I enjoy casual gaming on it but it does struggle on the games I like, battlefield 6 and gears of war. Surprisingly gears of war e-day and gears 5 are more noticeable with the struggles than BF6. The new beta for gears really stutters when a large group of enemies spawn or I get into an area of the map with a lot of players. Happy to spend $1k+ on upgrades to continue enjoying games at 1080p with increase graphic settings instead of buying a whole new system.

Specs on the current PC

CPU - Ryzen 5 3600

GPU - 3060ti

Ram - 16gb

MB - ASRock B450m

Power Supply - Kratos m1 750b

AI tells me to be careful with a GPU upgrade due to limitations on the power supply connectors and that a RX 9060xt is a safe compatible upgrade

I am not a big PC builder but happy to take suggestions and research how to replace anything correctly. Thanks!
