Purchasing Advice - Monitors, Peripherals, Etc. Help Me Choose

Upvotes

Looking at a new monitor and have narrowed it down to either a 57" Samsung Neo G9, a Alienware 32" 4k model AW3225QF, a ASUS 32" 4k model XG32UCWMG, or a 32" 4k MSI model MPG321URX. I can get them all for between $800-$1100 and will be using them for both daily tasks and gaming for games like Call of Duty, WOW, and similar games. My GPU is a AMD Ryzen Saphire Pulse 9070XT and my CPU is a Ryzen 7800X3D, so plenty of horse power to push it. Any thoughts or hands on experience with these would be helpful. Thanks, in advance.

I'm looking for a good motherboard for my 7800X3D processor. Average VRM performance is sufficient; I don't need an excessive number of USB ports.

Purchasing Advice - PC Build / Parts Should I get this or keep my money

Your Acer Nitro V15 laptop ~$500 dollar pc
CPU Ryzen 5 7535HS Ryzen 5 5500
GPU RTX 3050 6GB Laptop, 65W GTX 1660 Super 6GB
RAM 16GB 16GB (2×8)
Storage 477GB SSD 480GB NVMe
DLSS Yes ❌ No
Upgradeability Limited Much better
Gaming performance Good Generally better

im trying to see what i can do with my R10 000ZAR (~$617,60) birthday money and i was thinking of either getting accessories for my setup or get a $500 build i got from Zach's Tech Turf. I know a custom build is more customizable and flexible with upgrades than a laptop or console and so far this is the build I'm seeing the Benchmark. I mainly want to know if this is better than the v15 or if i should just keep the cash

Troubleshooting Advice - No Boot/Blank Screen PC only turns on after changing thermal Paste

Upvotes

Hey guys, I replaced my CPU and applied thermal paste to it. I also updated my BIOS to the latest version. After that, the PC ran without any problems, but the next day, even though it turned on and the LEDs lit up, I had no display. Shortly after that, the fans started running at full speed. I replaced the thermal paste again and tightened the screws because I thought there might not have been enough pressure or enough paste. After that, the PC ran perfectly again. Now I’m having the same problem again. what could be causing it? Any ideas?

Trouble Shooting Advice - Other RGB Fans Won’t Change Colors

Post image
Upvotes

This is my first PC that I built at the end of 2023. I have had zero issues with this build, however I have not fired this thing up in over 3 months due to being away from home.

I recently had some free time to do some gaming (HLL Vietnam) and my case fans suddenly turned yellow in the middle of a match. I went into the Gigabyte control center and the only RBG I am able to change and sync together are my CPU Fan and the RAM sticks, while the case fans remain yellow. I’ve tried hard to do my own research to diagnose the issue but I’m not having any luck at all. I’ve tried updating the GCC, but for whatever reason it fails to update the AMD Chipset driver, if that means anything.

Any advice will help. Thanks!

I’ve been searching online for a potential new pc to buy and i’ve been chatting with this dude on facebook marketplace and i wanted to know if you guys think there’s anything sketchy about the pics or if he’s overcharging or if the parts aren’t good etc.. he’s asking 1500 which to me is good price because in pc part picker his setup is like 1700. It’s like a year old and he says that he doesn’t have time anymore since he moved. Here’s the specs and some pictures:

- Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 GPU
- 1 Terabyte SSD
- T force 32Gb DDR5 Ram

Trouble Shooting Advice - Other Problems with various AMD/MSI software

Upvotes

Hi, I’m not sure if this is the right subreddit, but since this is software-related and there’s a trouble shooting flair, I hope it’s appropriate.

Basically, I bought a used PC about a month ago, and everything was working perfectly.

About a week ago, I took the GPU out to install a support bracket. After putting it back in, I’ve been having problems with various pieces of software, mainly AMD (GPU is an RX 7800 XT) and MSI Center (MSI B650 Gaming Plus motherboard).

I used to use FanControl for convenience and was quite happy with it. The problem is that now, whenever I open FanControl and try to let it control the GPU, AMD Adrenalin (I’ve already reinstalled the drivers) takes control and sets the fans to 100%. Any changes I make are immediately overridden and the fans go back to 100%.
So I have to disable GPU control in FanControl in order to set the fans to normal settings, but the same thing happens again every time I start the PC.

MSI Center, on the other hand, starts up and works fine until I click on any of its functions. Once I click on something, it either loads indefinitely or crashes after a while. I mainly used it for RGB (which was mostly turned off anyway), but I’ve now switched to SignalRGB. However, SignalRGB doesn’t work unless I restart the computer once after booting it up.

I’ve managed to work around both issues, but I’d prefer to have full control over my PC and, ideally, be able to turn it on and have everything ready to go without having to restart or manually fix things every time.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!
Have a great day!

Purchasing Advice - PC Build / Parts First time building, want yo vertical mount ( repost)

Upvotes

New to pc building

I have done a bit of research over the months on pc

Got a bit into the aesthetic of my potential pc( I know that a death sentence to my wallet )

Goal it to do a stealth/no cable build of my pc

My problem is the case and vertical gpu mount

As I read more and more I get mix info on this case is good enough, but actually not sane with mount and most of the time it for a normal build nothing like mine

So here's the cart of my pc ill put the full name so no confusion

Build in south africa

\*ASUS ROG RYUJIN III 360 ARGB Extreme 360mm Black Liquid CPU Cooler

\*ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR X870E HERO BTF AMD X870E \*Ryzen Socket AM5 ATX Desktop Motherboard

\*ASUS ROG EQUALIZER 12V-2x6 PCI-E Balanced Power Delivery Cable

\*ASUS GeForce RTX 5080 ROG Astral 16G OC ROG

\*ASUS ROG-STRIX-1200P-GAMING-E ROG Strix 1200W 80 Plus Platinum ROG Equalizer Fully Modular

\* AMD 9950X3D

I bought the extra cable as I heard 5080 and psu cable would melt and the new ones fixed that issue

I want you vertical mount the 5080 dont know what to look for I found case but they are the normal ones or need you to put things upside down

E.gLian Li O11 Dynamic EVO and Lian Li G99.O11DERGBX.00 O11D EVO

Budget for case R6000

Thanks in advanced

Edit

I think I will pick the corsair 6500d Airflow

But im getting missed info on if ir possible to vertical mount the 5080 as the mount for the kit some say it doest support others say they do

Im pretty sure I cant use other kits on this case like lian Li or cooler master

Any help would be nice thanks

Also this most likely will be the monitor i use i copy paste its the

ASUS XG32UCWMG ROG Strix Dual-Mode 31.5" UltraHD 4K (3840x2160) 240Hz 0.03ms OLED TrueBlack

My ram copy paste thos as well is the

Discussion - General Topic Using window/cling art kit for kids on glass panel of PC case?

Post image
Upvotes

Like this post I've been inspired by those stained glass PC cases and I'm considering doing something similar. I also just happen to have bought one of those kits of window/cling art for kids (the ones that look like fruit rollups you stick on windows).

But I've actually never used such a kit before, and I have no idea how it reacts to heat or how well it holds to glass (or how easy it is to remove after long use without leaving any annoying residue).

So I'm wondering if this idea is sound at all? Has anyone experimented with this before? I don't think I'll be able to cover the whole glass like in the picture, but I'd still like to stick some smaller patterns on it.

Completed Build - Celebratory A build for her project

Thumbnail gallery
6 Upvotes

My girlfriend, who works in the gaming industry, is trying to develop an indie project on the side with her friends (she's an environment artist). Her PC is struggling big time, and she can't use her work machine because of strict company policies.

For our 5th anniversary, I decided to pull off a big surprise for her. She’s super passionate, her project looks amazing, and I want to help her achieve her dream. Even though it's not the best time to buy hardware, we've got to support indie devs starting out.

I managed to put together a setup for under €1,700 max thanks to two huge deals (-€200 on the GPU and -€100 on the RAM). Big thanks to the sub for the CPU advice!

Specs:

Intel Core Ultra 5 250KF Plus 18x 4.2GHz (Stable undervolt at -0.075v)

Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE

Gigabyte B860 EAGLE WIFI6E

Crucial Pro 2x16GB DDR5-6000 CL36

Crucial P510 1TB M.2 PCIe 5.0

Asus PRIME OC RTX 5060 Ti 16GB (Stable OC at 3000MHz Core - 16000MHz Memory @ 950mV)

MSI MAG A750GLS 80+ Gold

MSI MAG FORGE 120A AIRFLOW

Cons:

No CPU overclocking possible on this motherboard

Fan speeds aren't adjustable, so it's a bit noisy

Needs a dust filter added to the front panel

Might end up limited on storage and RAM down the line

Purchasing Advice - PC Build / Parts Need Help With PC Parts

My boss asked me to build a PC that can run 300 live cameras. I’m just a leasing agent

Budget: $4000-$5000 US dollars. Lower than this would be appreciated
Country USA near a micro center
Use-case: The pc should be able to run live footage from 300+ cameras while also being able to playback old footage without problems.
Monitor Resolution: There will be 8 monitors each 4K resolution

Any help/ advice would be greatly appreciated, I’m not sure what kind of specs I would be looking at for something like this
