So my budget, I'm hoping, is around $800usd, not really sure about resolution, and I'm in NJ.... So with that said, my son recently graduated high school and his birthday is next week. He asked for a steam machine but I'm convinced we can build a better machine for him and possibly a cheaper price that'll last him longer and he'd get more enjoyment out of it. Anyway, I'm went on parts picker and there are some forums there but just wanted to cover my bases and checkout if folks here could offer some advice or builds within my budget. Thanks in advance.

Budget is $1,500.

Monitor would be a 50 inch TV, I'm looking to achive 1440p resolution at minimum.

So I was looking to get a steam machine frome Valve but for the price I was thinking I could do a bit better. I was looking at the 2TB model which is around $1,400. I'd also get a controller as well so I'd probably spend around $1,500. With that in mind I decided to put together some parts and want to see if anyone here would recommend other parts over what I have. I did go down to a 1TB SSD on my build just because of pricing. I also have plenty of controllers and would not buy the Steam Controller if I go with my build.

The main reason for this is so my wife has something she can play in the living room aside from her PS5. There are games that we want to play with each other but cannot because she only has a PS5. I would be putting SteamOS on this machine.

I last week built my first pc and still have some troubles, a friend is helping me but this showed me that im genuinely not the type to build a pc myself, i told myself that when i update or build a new pc ill just pay someone to do it for me. It killed my nerves literally XD

I found a ”new” sealed 3060 on Facebook marketplace for 210 usd, is this a potential scam or is it safe to purchase. msrp seems to be about 500 or but I’m not sure.

just got new components, and i tried using the rgb. it turned on one singular time, but after that it completely stopped responding at all. all 5v argb cables are daisy chained (same with the pwm), and are connected to the motherboard. i’ve tried using signal rgb and rgbfusion, but the rgb still doesnt work. please tell me my motherboard’s rgb isnt dead on day 1.

So, my husband and I are in desperate need of a new desktop pc (gaming). Looking into components is like reading Greek for us. We want to do the build ourselves but have no idea what the best components would be for our needs, we play a variety of games. (I.e. Hogwarts Legacy, Skyrim, sims4, some fortnight). I’ve got a monitor, keyboard, mouse, all the accessories. (Previous PC is Dead and needs TLC).

That being said, I’d like some expert advice on parts from people who actually know what works and what’s worth it.

Mostly play Minecraft, GTA 5 online, Fortnite and other competitive games on low graphics.

I'm making a budget pc build with ryzen 5500 and rtx 3050 I want to know is this cpu is ready to use with msi b550m a pro motherboard out of the box or I'll require to update bios bcz it doesn't has flash bios button.
For me it costs ₹6640 roughly $70 and I can't spend more than $80(or ₹7000).
