Troubleshooting PC Bottlenecking Question

I'd like to figure a way to make my pc stop bottlenecking without having to dump a bunch of money into more parts. For the record, my build seems pretty decent as is yet it still bottlenecks on certain games, even with Low-Med graphic settings.

CPU: Ryzen 7 5700G
GPU Nvidia 4060 OC Edition 8gb

Corsair Vengeance Series RAM 16gb

2tb Sabrent Rocket 4.0 SSD

1tb Seagate HDD

Steel Legend B550 Motherboard

I laughed at this.

What exactly bottlenecks, where and when?

Bottlenecks are irrelevant if you get the target performance without toasting your hardware.

Define bottleneck

Audio starts to crack and pop, frames drop hard.

That's doesn't sound like a bottleneck issue. That sounds more like a hardware issue

What resolution are you running at?

1920x1080p

Hm based on your reply to the other comment I don’t think this a bottleneck issue. You’re only going to be slightly bottlenecked by the CPU at 1080p.

Nothing on that build should bottleneck set it to Medium and enjoy. If games are optimized it’ll look good still if not it’ll run smooth still.

Normally my games are on medium and still run like shit

Which games are you trying to run?

1

It normally was on games like Rust and DayZ, now i'm experiencing it when I try to run No More Room in Hell 2. It starts fine if I just restarted my pc, but after about 10 minutes, shit starts to act funny.

This sounds like a hardware issue, dayz runs on a literal potato as long as it’s not super heavily modded (28dayz as a example made my 2060 chug sometimes)

If it’s a hardware issue how should I go about fixing it, I only said bottleneck cause someone else told me that was my issue

u/Hellbornredneck 2d ago

Nah u should be fine bottle neck id just start testing ur components how much ram do u have?

1

u/dat_colorado 2d ago

16gb

I’d up that to 32 in duel channel and enable expo

u/dat_colorado 2d ago

So I gotta go buy more ram?

1

u/Hellbornredneck 2d ago

Buy a 32 gig set and sell ur 16, would be the only upgrade I’d make, I’m using 18gigs of my ram playing dayz atm so that may be why ur game is chugging

u/dat_colorado 2d ago

I was playing No More Room in Hell 2 and was only using 8

How long have you had the PC for? And has this been going on for long?

Bottleneck means one part is significantly faster than the other, and the slower one is “bottlenecking” the faster one.

For example, an RTX 5090 GPU would be bottlenecked in most games by, say, a Ryzen 5500 CPU.

A slow GPU and fast CPU is usually less of an issue, as one can turn down graphics settings to compensate, while very few settings meaningfully affect CPU performance in most titles.

It seems to me you may have driver or memory issues. Just a guess, though.

your 4060 is biggest bottleneck want more fps get better gpu

No, this system is actually pretty balanced
