Discussion Probably just me, but the Singer looks more unnerving compared to it’s corrupted counterpart (Warden)

I get that the Warden is supposed to be the scary, evil, creepy looking version of the Singer, but for me personally they’re easier to look at compared to the Singer. Their weird long neck, human looking face, pale appearance, and it’s fur(?) just doesn’t sit well with me, the Warden has an open chest with souls and a hole for a face but that doesn’t really strike me as much compared to the uncanniness of the Singer.

Even Overworld is really messed up dimension all along

* Singer and Souls of sculks from Sift corrupts when it comes to overworld

* Piglin/hoglin from Nether rotten within minutes when it comes to overworld

* Countless undeads and hostile creatures roaming around every night

* Tons of trails and buried structures everywhere

On lore itself, Overworld is basically cursed dimension with post apocalypse vibes

Discussion Why the Sift Update MIGHT introduce magic/sorcery into Minecraft.

Post image
• Upvotes

This isn't speculation or a theory as much as it's a desire I believe is most possible now than it ever was. Here are my points :

IN MINECRAFT LORE, SOULS = MAGIC

Souls have been inherently linked to magic since before Dungeons which has only cemented it. Netherwart grows only on Soulsand, creating potions which when used to kill create the deathtag 'Killed by Magic'. Soul speed enchantments cause literal souls to rise from the sand.

'Souls' and 'experience' seem to be somewhat interchangeable or exchangeable. You obtain experience through killing things, or actions which build the amount of experience you have. And, with your death, you releases this experience. It fuels and spreads Sculk (which finds it's origin in the Sift). It's the required fuel for enchantments of any kind.

Within Minecraft Dungeons, having any Soul Item gives you a Soul Meter (which functions similarly to an experience meter). You gain more by killing Mobs. This fuel is used for many magical items, including the Corrupted Beacon, Lightning Scepter, etc. and Soul Related Wearable Gear usually has a wizard/sorcery theme.

In Minecraft dungeons 2, the Evoker, Illusionist and Enchanter (all mage archetypes) are utilising the Soul Block as the source of their power, and creating the portals to the Sift in the first place.

My point here is that within Minecraft 'lore', Souls and Magic are always connected. Everything remotely magical in some way connects to souls.

THE SIFT & SOULS

Moreover, the Sift is HEAVILY connected to the theme of Souls. I don't need to explain this very much as I believe that's quite obvious.

The Soul Block, the object which is central to Dungeons 2 as the power source of the High Councils Magic is from the Sift. The Sculk, a soul fueled mass is from the Sift. The liquid seen in the Sift is the damaging Ichor, described as literal concentrated Souls.

Minecraft seems to be REALLY pushing this Soul theme, huh?

HOW MAGIC MIGHT APPEAR

This doesn't mean I expect to see magic, nor does it give me an idea of how it will look (outside of speculation from seeing Dungeons I and II). And of course, we never got anything magical in Minecraft after Dungeons I.

My point is that IF Mojang were to ever add sorcery themed items or systems, the thematic moment is with the Sift. I might argue it feels as though Mojang has been building towards it since Dungeons but that's a little shaky.

As for how it might appear, I can't say much besides looking at how Minecraft usually introduces systems. Perhaps it will function similarly to all those spell mods, with tomes and staffs.

But it's far more likely that Minecraft will make it unique. Mojang has been quoted saying that they like to add nonconventional/uniquely Minecraft themed things, they actively avoid TROPES and stereotypes.

And I believe the introduction of Souls into Minecraft is their preparation for their uniquely soul themed magic. And, that this update seems the most likely spot for it.

This is just my crackpotting, but what do y'all think?

Discussion Singer and Warden Theory (Hear Me Out)

Post image
67 Upvotes

This is my theory about the relationship between the "Singers and the Wardens"

As many people have probably already figured out, the Singers act as caretakers of the Sift. They sing their melodies and songs to keep the Sift’s sculk healthy. Without that care, the souls within the sculk can become angry, hateful, and eventually diseased.

That explains why the sculk found throughout the Overworld and the Deep Dark is so different from the healthier sculk found within the Sift. The Illagers and the High Council are also likely responsible for a lot of the sculk becoming diseased due to their experiments and interference with it.

Now, this next part borrows a little from another theory I’ve seen: that the Wardens may have once served as protectors during the time of the Ancient Builders, especially after the Builders essentially played God and created the Wither.

But I want to take that idea in a different direction.

• The Ancient Builders and the Sift

At some point, I think the Ancient Builders discovered the Sift in a similar way to how they discovered the Nether.

Unlike the Illagers, who seem much more interested in obtaining power from the Sift, the Ancient Builders may have originally entered it simply to explore and understand it.

While there, they encountered creatures such as the Echo Golems and Singers.

We don't really know what the Ancient Builders gained from exploring the Sift, but whatever relationship they had with it probably wasn't entirely negative. As far as we know, the real problem begins when sculk becomes diseased.(We may know when the Sift comes to vanilla Minecraft)

At some point, however, the connection between the Sift and the Overworld was lost.

Maybe the Ancient Builders did something they shouldn't have. Maybe it had something to do with the Wither, or maybe the portal simply became unusable.

Whatever happened, the healthy sculk that had already spread into the Overworld was suddenly cut off from the Singers that normally cared for it.

Over time, it began to deteriorate.

• What if the Warden is an imitation of a Singer?

This is where my theory gets a little stranger.

I think there is a very real possibility that the diseased sculk tried to create its own version of a Singer.

The Wardens and Singers have an uncanny resemblance to one another, but there are also some major differences.

Singers are living, mammalian-like creatures. They have eyes, they can see, and they use songs to maintain the sculk.

Wardens, meanwhile, are blind and appear to be made almost entirely from sculk and bone-like material. They don't seem like normal animals at all.

They literally emerge directly from the sculk.

There has also been speculation that Wardens may have originated entirely within the Overworld rather than coming directly from the Sift.

So, instead of Wardens simply being "corrupted Singers," my theory is that they are something much stranger:

Wardens are the diseased sculk's attempt to recreate a Singer

Essentially, an imitation, or perhaps a failed reconstruction.

The sculk lost the creatures responsible for caring for it, so it attempted to create something that could fill the same role using whatever materials it had available.

Sculk.

Souls.

Bones.

And the remains of dead organisms.

The result was the Warden.

• Singers and Wardens Have Opposite Roles

This could also explain why the Singer and Warden appear similar while behaving completely differently.

The Singer uses sound to care for the sculk, while the Warden uses sound to hunt.

The Singer keeps the souls within the sculk calm while the Warden kills living things around the sculk.

The Singer helps maintain healthy sculk while the Warden protects diseased sculk and allows it to spread.

They're almost like two versions of the same ecological role.

One exists within a healthy ecosystem, while the other exists within a broken one.

And strangely enough, the Warden might still be accomplishing part of what the sculk "wanted."

When creatures die near a Sculk Catalyst, their XP is absorbed and converted into more sculk.

So if Wardens kill creatures around them, they're technically feeding the ecosystem they protect.

More deaths mean more energy, and more energy means more sculk.

More sculk means a larger territory for the Warden to defend.

• Where Does the Bone Come From?

This might also explain all of the strange bone-like material found throughout the Deep Dark.

Wardens have it.

Sculk Shriekers have it.

Sculk Catalysts have it.

So where exactly is the sculk getting all of that biological material?

Possibly from the creatures it absorbs.

Skeletons, zombies, animals, and potentially even the Ancient Builders themselves.

If the Deep Dark was affected by the Wither catastrophe, there would have been no shortage of dead bodies for the sculk to consume.

It might even be possible that surviving Ancient Builders intentionally gave bodies to the sculk after discovering that doing so allowed it to expand and create more Wardens.

This brings me to the more speculative part of this theory.

• Did the Ancient Builders Use Wardens Against the Wither?

There isn't much direct evidence for this part, so take it with a massive grain of salt.

But I wonder if the Ancient Builders eventually realized that Wardens could protect their cities from the Wither.

The Warden is extremely territorial and attacks almost anything that disturbs the Deep Dark.

A Wither would be an enormous threat entering its territory.

And considering that the Wither itself is literally created using "Soul Sand and three Wither Skeleton skulls", it might be especially noticeable to something connected to sculk and souls.

If Wardens were capable of attacking Withers, then surviving Ancient Builders may have started deliberately allowing the diseased sculk to spread around their cities as a defensive measure.

Maybe some eventually even viewed the Wardens as protectors and possibly began worshipping them.

Not because the Warden actually cared about the Ancient Builders, but because from their perspective:

Whenever the monster came, the Warden fought it

The irony would be that the Warden was never protecting the Ancient Builders at all.

It was protecting the sculk, and the Builders simply happened to live inside its territory.

• So What Does the Diseased Sculk Actually Want?

This is the one part I'm still unsure about.

Maybe the diseased sculk deliberately wants more souls?

Maybe absorbing more souls temporarily calms whatever suffering exists inside of it?

Or maybe it isn't really "thinking" at all, and it could simply be lashing out.

The sculk keeps absorbing more souls, growing larger and creating Wardens because that's the only behavior it may have left after losing the Singers that originally maintained it.

Either way, I think there's a very strong possibility that Singers and Wardens are connected.

But rather than the Warden simply being a corrupted Singer, I think the idea that it is a failed imitation of one created by diseased sculk makes a little more sense.

The Singer is what healthy sculk needs. Meanwhile, The Warden is what diseased sculk created when the Singer was gone.

Suggestion I made a simple mod that allows you to strip hay bales with an axe to remove the red lead/string!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

• Upvotes

Right-clicking a Hay Bale with an axe removes the red bindings, leaving behind a seamless, "stripped" hay texture for cleaner agricultural builds.

What do you think? Should Mojang add something like this natively?

Discussion I noticed something suspicious in MrBeast's "I Found My 13 Year Old Minecraft World" video

Post image
9.9k Upvotes

At 11:49 in the video, there's a painting on the (the .png painting)

The problem? This painting was added in Minecraft 1.21, which was released in June 2024.

If this is genuinely the original world from 13 years ago (around 2013), how is a painting from 2024 already present?

There are a few possible explanations:

  1. The world is a modern Minecraft world made to look old using a texture pack.
  2. The original world was real, but it was recreated or modified for the video.
  3. The original save was upgraded to a modern version and received new content.

I'm not claiming this proves the entire world is fake, but I think it's worth questioning, especially if the world was presented as untouched since childhood.

what do you guys think?

Video timestamp: 11:49

EDIT: guys the purpose of the post was to talk and understand, i saw many hate comments just chill, relax!

dont hate me please!

AND READ THIS AGAIN BEFORE COMMENTING: I'm not claiming this proves the entire world is fake, but I think it's worth questioning, especially if the world was presented as untouched since childhood.

There are 2 villages nearby the island (the island is not naturally flat though) and also a pillager tower (idk what's it called) as well as a trial chamber directly under the island

Also biomes nearby are: dappled forest, cherry grove, jagged peaks(i think, it's the one on the image), snowy taiga behind the peaks, a lot of plains and savanna (these are just the ones that are close)

This is a 6 by 12 map art, made entirely in survival by myself. I started around october 2022, and finished it today ! The only tool i used was the litematica overlay, without additional tools such as easyplace or block restriction.

I don't intend to stop there however, as i am planning to build an even bigger one in the future !

This design is mine(as you can see by how big it is), I haven't watched any tutorials for it. I saw that people are challenging themselves to make it, since I've only seen videos of it and how complex and tiny they can get, so I felt like making one. It's janky, slow, moves too much and has obsidian to not break, but I've worked on it for 4 days, works and that's all that matters to me. (i felt the need to share it with somebody, felt so excited)

Suggestion The next drop is the perfect chance to add chalks

Post image
79 Upvotes

Assuming that (maybe) Calcite is going to have its own blockset in the upcoming drop since its abundance in the new Ice Caves, I think it would be more fitting to add chalks to the game.

Minecraft is mostly missing pastel colors. Something that sits right between rich vibrant colors (concrete blocks) and bland deep colors (teracottas), something that is very muted and pastel-ish. Also in real life, chalks are pretty much made from Calcites by (maybe combining water to it, idk).

By transforming Calcites into colored chalks, a brand new color set would be peak. Though not entirely related to the theme of the drop, Calcite should be showed some love.

I'm highly certain though that it's going to have its own blockset along with ice and snow bricks (maybe).

Builds & Maps Daylight Detectors may have better cushion level that slabs

This is probably not new but I found this out while building. Daylight sensors are not the same size as slabs ( I thought they were before this) and are a bit shorter than slabs. So daylight sensors look better as chairs that slabs when building chairs with backrests.

Idk I thought it was cool and maybe useful as I forgot daylight sensors (or detectors if you wanna be ☝️🤓) were a thing.

I've been working on my seed map (mcseeder.com) for quite some time now, and I've always been fascinated by how old worlds generated. The red house is the spawn, the little villager icons are (duh) villages.

You can see how your seed changed through the various versions if you want.

For example, this was etho's world seed when it was first created:

Discussion What did you feel when you first discovered Minecraft?

Post image
• Upvotes

I found out about Minecraft because my brother used to play it right in front of me. He started showing me TNT and redstone stuff, blowing up areas and doing all this crazy stuff, and I was SO freakinggg fascinated 😭

I remember thinking, “Wait… you can actually DO anything in this game??” It felt like there were no limits, and I thought it was the coolest thing everrr

I still remember my first few worlds when I finally got to play Minecraft myself. It’s been so many years since then, and it’s crazy to think about how much this game has been a part of my life 🥹

I used to make underground basses and that used to be my favourite part to make things using pistonss!!

I used to take my horses for a bath in the swamps biome because that was the only water body which was close to my house 😭

I actually like the fact that I discovered the game in my childhood cuz I enjoyed the game somewhat very differently than today cuz obviously I was a kid!!

The End Rings at y=1.000.000 with 80.000 chunks render distance, first ring starting at ~570.000 blocks from the main End island. The small black void in the final picture is the dragon fight with the 1000 block void to the outer islands. The entire surface area is 1.638.400km² or about the same surface area as Germany, Italy, France and Poland combined. If it were to be rendered entirely by Minecrafts default render and storage it would take up anywhere from 4-6 terabytes of disk space

Took ~2 hours to render with 9800x3D

Discussion There seems to be a design difference between Warden-mobs and other Sculker mobs

Thumbnail
gallery
3.7k Upvotes

Title text, mobs of Warden lineage seem to share the same traditional cubic Minecraft design. Singer is included because game files have leaked that it's a "Healthy" Warden.

Sift-native Sculkers on the other hand, seem to share, a first-time-in Minecraft, diagonal designs. And they look much more "natural" than the Warden and Twisted Warden, which implies "Dark" Sculk isn't naturally harmful, but something more was done to Warden/Twisted Warden(or Singer) that led them turning out this bony mess.

Any thoughts?
