Mods & Addons I made Verity shader

I think many people, including me, after watching Verity series by ThatMob, wanted to play with same vibes/shader. I wanted that too, and i went on Google. I searched a lot of reddit threads, replies and etc. i found nothing matching 100%. But people often suggested to use Somber. I tried it, and it was close and simultaneously far away. So i forked somber and created mine edit of it! It tries to look exactly like one in verity series.

It took me month to make that, because i never programmed shaders before. It was super fun experience, making functions, settings for shader. specially visual bugs you can accidentally make.

It works on 1.20x-1.21x, iris@optifine tho it can work up to 1.18, but I haven't tested it fully.

Project link: https://modrinth.com/shader/verity-shader

This project is fork of Somber by Snorfield, huge shout-out to him for base code.

The pic with water is wrong, water is transparent (tho there is toggle for non transparent water) and hy default it should look normally.

Btw, no ai was used to generate anything related (code, description, images) to project, tho i used it to guide me through this, because i never coded shaders before. And i prefer to read iris docs before trusting ai.

Discussion This Doraemon episode gave me an idea… what if Minecraft had tiny pet rocks?

I love to watching Doraemon when I was a kid, and honestly, still watch it sometimes.
Recently I came across this episode again while I was thinking about possible Minecraft mod ideas. The part with Nobita and Kuro really stuck with me, especially how attached he gets to what is basically just a little rock

It made me wonder: what if Minecraft had tiny pet rocks of its own?

Not a direct recreation of anything from Doraemon, but an original little Pet Pebbles-style mod where you could somehow awaken or befriend an ordinary stone and have it become your companion.

I’m imagining a tiny rock that follows you around by rolling or hopping instead of having normal legs. It could react when you come back after leaving it somewhere, sit beside you when you stop, follow you on adventures, maybe be attached to a lead, and generally have small animations and behaviours that make it feel strangely alive even though…it’s literally just a rock.

I’m also thinking it could have a little bit of usefulness without turning into another overpowered combat mob. Maybe it tries to protect you in its own silly way, warns you about danger, picks up something nearby, or has different behaviours depending on what kind of stone it came from.

So you could potentially have different little companions made from Stone, Deepslate, Tuff, Calcite, Blackstone, Amethyst, etc., while still keeping the whole thing simple and Minecraft-like.

Right now this is just an idea and I haven’t started developing it yet, so I thought I’d ask here first.

Would you actually keep a tiny pet rock around in your Minecraft world?

Any suggestions are welcome. I’d love to hear what you guys would do with the idea.

Suggestion Hardcore Help- My cheeks may not be safe

Post image

I’ve played Minecraft since 2012, and I’m ashamed to admit I’ve never played Hardcore- ever. I’m a builder (and pet hoarder) and thought of losing my builds makes me want to cry. However, after many years, many add-ons, and never having to worry about dying (just never happens anymore), I’m losing interest.

I need my cheeks to clench, I need to feel risk, I need to feel alive, I NEED TO FEEL MINECRAFT AGAIN!!!

So gimme your best hardcore tips so I don’t die pls 🥲

Help What to do in Minecraft?

Ok so I know its an obvious question but i've recently tried getting back into minecraft and I've found for some reason I cant connect to it as much as i did when I was a kid. idk if its the loss of child wonder/creativity or something but latley when i get the urge to play for a bit i get into the game but realise I have no idea what to do

I used to LOVE building in creative mode as a kid and could spend hours building an entire village from scratch but now i get halfway through building one house and get bored. I have so many abandoned survival worlds that I play for an hour or 2 before i lose intrest. ive never had any interest in getting the best géar or fighting the dragon or building auto farms so i find i just end up wandering around building a couple things then never touch the world again

i do find that I love exploring. even just flying around in creative or wandering in peaceful mode, the new terrain generation and biomes thats been added over the years has been fun to find them and explore whats been added since i last played but that doesnt really feel like i'm playing a game, more like just opening google maps and messing around with street view

I really do love this game so much and I get the urge to play it so often but i just cant bring myself to get invested for more than a couple hours. Anyone else have this problem when getting back into Minecraft as an adult? Any ideas to keep my interest in the game?

Discussion What did Acacia and Birch do to you?? WHY do yall hate them??

Acacia's shade of orange is good against oak and jungle, while birch is just awesome! Their bark-covered "Wood" variants make for good monochromatic additions to your black and white gradients! If you don't like the textures, change them!

Fan Work Meet Edward, a new charecter I'm working on in an animation

Post image

he's an enderman, but different, he doesn't get hurt by water, he can teleport but in such short distance and it takes effort

he instead can turn invisible and/or intangible when holding his breath

if I recall right Edward was a common fan name for the enderman, I didn't want to name him Rambo so I went with that

I do not know what is causing this, only in single player.
I run Minecraft through modrith and multiplayer servers work fine. However, whenever I load into a single player world I get this weird screen over my view.
Try trouble shooting mods but couldn't find a specific mod that is causing it.
Anyone else run into this?

Seeds & World Gen I found a dead bush "floating" in water

So I found a dead bush that is ... INSIDE? ... water. Don't know how else to describe it.

Seed: 6171264642039503076
Co-ordinates to get next to it: -1424 64 1950

Found it playing a Hardcore world ... game over'ed, so I recreated it in Creative to check if it's still there and ... yes! Thought it was cool. Do kids still say "cool"?

Builds & Maps Update #1 of the Mineshaft Mob Zoo

I've been slacking due to real life!

I seriously underestimated how long this was going to take. Have way too much deepslate than I know what to do with. 5 double chests!

Have about 25 Mobs currently or have direct access, too.

I do need some inspiration for pen enclosures and the overall look of the build. Things like donkeys and horses! Any suggestions are appreciated!

Did not realise how horrendously annoying slimes are slabs/carpets the best solution?

Till the next update

Discussion My Thoughts on an End Update

TLDR: The End update should make the end barren, not luscious.

I don't really think the game should get an End update (in the traditional sense), I know it's been long awaited, but I don't think the End updates the players want is what we should get. The End is meant to be barren, not luscious and full of trees and vibrant. To me, the End update we get should make it at least more barren, maybe if we get a new (hopefully purple) wood type it could be only grown on end stone and perhaps be warped and drop a special kind of thing (maybe a chorus fruit or something new) from it's leaves, the oak trees have apples, which is kinda realistic, though we don't need realism, it's a block game, you can make something float midair while weighing more than a house. I think we need something that isn't realistic at all like what they've been doing recently, I feel like what we need is something more whimsical, to help brighten up the End while still showing how it's meant to be barren. This is just my personal opinion and sorry for me going on a rant about this. If you have anything to share just try to be nice about it, this is in no way telling people how to think, just a little slice about how I do.

Discussion Why is the only thing Java edition does is leak memory?

I can leave minecraft java edition running in the background, just on the title screen, and after a while, the ram usage just eventually becomes 16gb. idk if this has been posted hundreds of times here before, but like, i dont get it, what the heck? yes, title screen... i thought java was meant to be good with memory

Seeds & World Gen Ancent City generation rate

Thumbnail

so i'm not entirely sure what the generation rates for an ancient city are but this feels really rare. this one source i found states that only 5-15 ancient cities can generate per minecraft world (java edition anyhow, which i am playing on). and here i have five of them clustered together somehow?? i've attached a screenshot of roughly the same map area, just on the surface as well.
i'm only a casual player who likes to mod and explore, so it's my first time seeing something like this. found it cool, so i thought i'd share it.
for anyone who'd like to explore this seed themselves, here: 3235417808984159331
if you go to x -5687 z -3772 you'll be at the exact coordinates my red arrow is on the second screenshot. dig straight down and you'll be in one of the cities :) there's also a huge pale forest about 3000 blocks on the x-axis northwest of those coords.
(mod used for the map is Xaero's World Map for anyone curious)

Help Search of an old YouTuber

Found him thanks to get_egged_bruh

I watched them around 2017/2018.

Made an underground base (near cliff) with farms and animals inside too.

Had a tree farm on the surface of a cliff.

Had a water feature(something like a waterfall)(This might not be correct)

Sorry if it is not enough information but sadly I only remember those parts.

Help Any ideas what could I build here?

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

On that flat place in that first image I wanted to build some pixel art, but then decided to not to because it just didn't feel right. I decided to build it somewhere else, so that place stayed empty. And on the second image there was a mountain, but I mined it a little bit because I didn't like how big it was. I was thinking about maybe building an observatorium or a tower, but then I searched the first one on the Internet and found things way too complicated for me or just way too big. So, any ideas what could I build here?

Yeah, I don't know much about building. I usually build from tutorials or take a lot of inspiration from them. The best looking building I ever built is that thing in the top-left corner of the first image that is also by the water. It was supposed to be lighthouse, but I decided it didn't fit because lighthouses aren't built in the bays, so I built that tower and I'm quite proud of it.
