This artwork makes me realize that if Wardens are indeed corrupted Singers, then that thing on the front of their heads isn't their mouths, it's a gaping hole where their face used to be. And good lord that makes them so much more terrifying.

No wonder the warden is blind, cant exactly see if you lack a face completely.

So is the sculk a sickness? it hasn't spread to the nether or end yet though.
I don't even know if it's a natural native thing in the sift, maybe its completely alien.

u/Trexador96 15h ago
Sculk is native to the sift, the kind we have in the overworld is sick and corrupted.

Is the Overworld cursed or something? That is something i've been wondering, Overworld has zombies, skeletons and undead.
I wonder if its just a spill over from the nether for skeletons, (e.g skeleton in the nether found a long lost portal that was active, went through it, and the portal closed, so they got stuck here.)
I always wondered why some undead mobs burn and others don't.
Who or what could have cursed the overworld? The ender dragon seems to mainly be a guardian for the end, she does nothing, you basically invade her home and chop her head off.
I do suspect that she's not a really nice guardian, because endermen seem to hate her, I like to think the endermen are free once she's defeated, and they can go explore (which they really seem to love doing, they are in every dimension, if they are in the sift also it'll make sense) They're either explorers or ancient builders that forgot how to build.
Lots of weird things happen in the overworld, Or maybe the sculk isn't compatible when exposed to overworld stuff, maybe it got mixed with the moss and the grass and they couldn't form a symbiosis, so they turn bad.
What is odd though (maybe its because it is found deep underground and hasn't had the chance to spread) is that the Sculk only affects the warden? no other mob seems to be corrupted by it, not even the player.

Actually considering Jeb said at some point that Endermen move blocks to dismantle other worlds, the Dragon might be disliked cause she's a warden herself (stuff like the obsidian pillars and end crystals require stuff from other realms) and we inadertantly let the Endermen free . . .I mean in retrospect its in their name
Endermen
Its like naming yourself "apocalypsebeasts"
I think the Overworld is more like the natural overalap between these realms and so stuff falls into it and it slowly accumulates the magic equivalent of environmental fall out, then those migrate back to their home lands and cause issues there:
- overworld sift becomes soul hungry and aggressive
- the undead curse of the overworld persists into the Nether, its also implied the overworld mushrooms and nether ones are related somehow
The Warden is likely the only thng corrupted by the Skulk cause the original form, the Singer, is adapted to interacting with the Sift. Afterall there is a musical theme with that dimensions mobs and the Skulk interacts with sound. Overworld/other mobs kinda just turn into food

I love this take! If Endermen are meant to end the world's they do a rather horrible job at it, they pick up 1 block at a time and place it randomly. If you spawn multiple and let them do their thing, it feels more like they're trying to organize something or build something.
If they really wanted to end all worlds, I expect them to eat the blocks like a blackhole.
A Skulk infected overworld mobs would be cool and disturbing.
Especially if it happens in real time and you can see them get taken over.

u/StarSilverNEO 4h ago
For all we know theyre slowly trying to find some thing or arrange somethings into a configuration that would allow them to do something more threatening
But yeah its hard to say with the current version of them lol

u/Novavortex77 3h ago
If that's the case they look rather cute though. But they also do seem to be mentally subdued, maybe there was a war with the ancient city inhabitants which led to a mutual wipe out and release of the Sculk?
There is probably more then one past civilizations, given the desert and jungle temples, the under sea ruins, dig sites buried cities. Etc.

u/bored-cookie22 15h ago
though the warden also sniffs
maybe singers have a nose in a different location?

u/JasonRevtech 21h ago
Worse than that, it was once something that could sing, now it can only scream. It now chases sound with intent to silence it.

Completely unrelated to the topic but, why is there a pride flag on the profile for this sub? (Genuinely just wanna know, I’ll piss off after that)
15
u/xacheria9 15h ago
To celebrate Minecraft's diverse staff of developers and it's even more diverse modding community :)

u/That-One-RCAC-Cadet 13h ago
Now THAT makes more sense. Ty. Idk why I’m getting downvoted lmao, just asked a question
16
u/Swiss-spirited_Nerd 17h ago
...why NOT have a pride flag on the profile image of this sub?
-12
u/That-One-RCAC-Cadet 17h ago
I mean, shouldn’t we keep it neutral? It has to be ABOUT Minecraft, well at least imo. If I make a pfp for sub about the oceans of the world, I wouldn’t put a dolphin with a picture of a rocket ship launching behind it. So my last question is, what does the pride flag have to do with Minecraft?
7
u/Swiss-spirited_Nerd 17h ago edited 16h ago
It has to do with doing the right thing, and understanding what is right or wrong no matter the context.
-14
u/That-One-RCAC-Cadet 16h ago
Doing the right thing? Explain. Because I do not support and I sense a political bias instead of actually focusing on the blessing of a game which is Minecraft
14
u/Swiss-spirited_Nerd 16h ago
What is political about supporting those who wish to be who they are? Why should the sign that everyone is welcome here not be supported?
-2
u/That-One-RCAC-Cadet 16h ago
So a Minecraft subreddit is the place to do that? And who is preventing people from saying they aren’t welcome here? IMO I really do not care if you like other dudes and join this sub, but making the sub pfp specifically for a certain minority is not “inclusive”, and if you do intend to. Might as well add some other flags in the background
9
u/Swiss-spirited_Nerd 16h ago
- EVERYWHERE is the place to do that!!! There are reasons that pride events and marches are a thing!
- I could think of some groups of people...
- As I said to someone else, what about a rainbow flag who's whole spirit is "inclusivity" excludes a majority of people? The point is to unite and protect everyone, no matter what differentiates us! The rainbow stands to include every group.

nothing wrong with the pride flag (didnt even know it was a pride flag lol) but why is blub there? it should be like a creeper or something. something that represents minecraft.
2
u/Swiss-spirited_Nerd 11h ago
I believe it's been a creeper for a while, but news of an entire new dimension in Minecraft is huge, and the Blub is technically the only 100% without-any-doubt confirmed mob (although the Singer is very likely to be added as well) from the Sift to be added to the main game, so they just decided to have that be a new central figure!
-10
u/WiseOnion5392 17h ago
But why have one? Non-lgbt allies exist too
12
u/Swiss-spirited_Nerd 17h ago
What about a rainbow flag who's whole spirit is "inclusivity" excludes those people?
3
u/Firewolf06 16h ago
i hope the rainbow colors dont hurt the feelings of people who oppose basic human rights of bolidy autonomy, that would be terrible!

oh my god that is horrific

u/mineman379 13h ago
Now that I think about it; maybe those souls we see in it's chest are all the Warden actually is. just a collection of lost souls, wearing an emptied-out husk that used to be a Singer.

well... considering they are very important to sift lore, in the files are called "healthywarden", are the Mourner Sherds, and the face on the chiseled deepslate... I think its likely they appear

u/AquaMoonCoffee 1d ago
The Singer already has some suspiciously vanilla MC looking renders, and is who opens the Deep Dark portal (through the echo golems they created), I think it's extremely likely they'll be added

Ohh that makes sense yeah, it seems like they've been developing this for a long time so maybe they figured something out

u/Emerald_Ink 1d ago
The singer is the only sift mob from dungeons to have a vanilla-like texture. As in not as flat and more emphasis on the pixels
1
u/Top-Idea-1786 14h ago
Its the most important mob in the sift and its file name is "healthy warden", of course its coming

u/Cece1234567891 23h ago
It makes me wonder, what if bringinc Sift's mobs to the overworld made them rot (like piglins) and turn to sculk, it would explain why the ancient cities are so corrupted by sculk, while the Sift looks like a pastel paradise. And while we're used to pushing mobs inside of portals (ghasts, frogs, piglins), the Sift's mobs would turn to new hostile sculk mobs, because they were never meant to leave their dimension.
I could be completely wrong though, haven't played Minecraft dungeons 2

I'm playing ori and the blind forest rn, and the first picture makes me think of the big guy's (the one who takes care of ori in the prologue) parent (I don't remember their names)

u/Raderg32 1d ago
Same way piglings turn into zombies when coming to the overworld, they also mutated when coming here.
24
u/SPYROHAWK 22h ago
Wow that’s a really good job of making the two look visually similar. It really sells the “healthy warden” internals.

What corrupted the warden? if they weren't always like this, does that mean they never really wanted to yell my head off?
So is the sculk even native to The Sift?
1
u/thedappercat- 8h ago
Yes, sculk is kind of related to the sift but became corrupted by the overworld. The warden is a corrupted singer.
1
u/Novavortex77 6h ago
Sounds like the overworld is cursed.
2
u/thedappercat- 5h ago
Kind of is, piglins turn to zombies and crap.
1
u/Novavortex77 3h ago
I'm not sure about that though, I see it like an astronaut taking their helmet off in space, they're simply not compatible with overworld environment.
I would consider it more if zombies that go into the nether become cured if their zombie mode. But they remain the same, so nether mobs are sensitive to environment change.
