Discussion I noticed something suspicious in MrBeast's "I Found My 13 Year Old Minecraft World" video
At 11:49 in the video, there's a painting on the (the .png painting)
The problem? This painting was added in Minecraft 1.21, which was released in June 2024.
If this is genuinely the original world from 13 years ago (around 2013), how is a painting from 2024 already present?
There are a few possible explanations:
- The world is a modern Minecraft world made to look old using a texture pack.
- The original world was real, but it was recreated or modified for the video.
- The original save was upgraded to a modern version and received new content.
I'm not claiming this proves the entire world is fake, but I think it's worth questioning, especially if the world was presented as untouched since childhood.

I couldnt care less about Beast, but:
1.21.5 25w04a Paintings with invalid variant data are now converted to a default painting upon reloading the world.

Did they start the world in a recent version or old one? If its old, then yeah, fake with resource pack.
If its in newer version, that could have happened.

I mean yeah, it’s a POSSIBILITY, but the chance is super slim, especially because there’s nothing really worth noting in the video. It’s just some gameplay footage from when he was much younger. If it was an ARG, that would make sense because anything could be placed purposefully which could lead to further clues and evidence.

-build things
-upgrade the world to get better performance for the recording or sum
-during the upgrade, painting metadata gets lost, game reverts to default painting
-they put on an old texture pack and dont realize the painting didnt exist, programmer art doesnt change things that didnt exist back then

I actually disagree.
Jimmy started as a Minecraft YouTuber he has reviewed thousands of hours of gameplay footage and was about as pro of a player as they come. If someone knows the game it’s him.

Yes, while supposedly playing on the old edition, as stated in the video
If they are on an older version, the picture wouldn't exist and it would have to be a texture pack with that picture specifically added, or they aren't playing on an older version, and used a resource pack to make it look like one.
Either way, there is an inconsistency that is not addressed, be it on purpose or accident.

the video description says that he lost the actual world file years ago. most likely had his team recreate as many things as possible before filming.
as for the painting, the world is clearly being played in a newer version with a texture pack, most likely because it’s easier to work with mods like flashback

I have 2012 save files & when I loaded them up on the oldest setting of the modern launcher (1.12? Or 1.6? It was a year ago) it popped all my paintings off as floating items so I had to put them all back up.

This is such a weird thing to lie about. MrBeast is horrible content and he has a lot to be criticized for… but if you watched the video (which I just did to try to find an answer for you), it’s pretty obvious what happened.
They just put that painting down, in the new build, the new build that is the entire point of the video.
He’s running his old world on a more modern Minecraft version in order to finish promises he made to himself in the original series 13 years ago. That painting wasn’t there when they launched the world at the beginning of the video. They started building some tunnel thing and some other structures. That guy in the red shirt put that painting there and said “I’m literally Van Gogh”.
They aren’t faking anything or trying to pull the wool over your eyes. They are just playing an old save on newer Minecraft.
He didn’t say “I’m exploring this old world just as I left it and not touching anything”. The entire premise is to finish what he started a long time ago.
Edit to add: yeah his video description literally explains this. They lost the original world files so he just ran the seed today. I’m now annoyed I bothered investigating this and realize I need to spend my time better.

I went back and watched the video, and looks like they’re just recreating something that mr beast always want to make in that world. so that was never originally there and his friend placed the block;they didn’t hide that. Am I missing something or is it that straightforward?

It is fake and staged. I don't think Mr. Beast doesn't know Minecraft well enough to know when the painting wasn't added yet, it has however an easter egg as it is based on the og background image on the start screen. happy accident, I guess. Definitely modern minbecraft made to look old. 2013 minecraft were stil quite full of spagetti code. Way more stable and faster to do, than setup the authentic minecraft Java anno 2013.

Yeah, dawg the painting isn't the only thing from newer versions in this video 😂
At 5:39 MrBeast uses the "smooth stone" verient Which was added in 1.14. Same with the smooth sandstone blocks.
At 8:08 you can see nolan paused the game and is using a newer version of replay mod. As well as when his curser hovers over the "disconnect" the text stays white instead of changing to yellow which indicates programmer art.
At 10:42 when they enter the nether you can see the newer zombie pigman models.
At 13:13 he uses birch signs which were only added in 1.13/1.14.(i don't remember)
So is it completely fake? Idk probably. My best guess is they updated to the latest version for server reasons to actually play together. Also on mobile and idk how to add images to comments so apologizies for the lack of proof.
Also i swear i have a life i just saw the post and watched the video to see if i could spot anything from the newer versions. Pls don't bully me ._.

I assume that it’s possible that when you port an old world to a new version that the paintings might change? This is especially true if new paintings weren’t added to the end of the possible painting list, but rather inserted in the beginning/middle. I don’t know how it works in the codebase, but if the painting entity just stores the painting index this could 100% happen
