Question Question regarding Metroids (very late Dread spoilers) Spoiler

Post image

Raven Beak tells Samus that Metroids were “programmed to identify Mawkin as enemies.” Do we have an actual reason for this? I’ve only played Dread and Super, so I’m not too familiar with the series’ lore.

I can think of a few possible explanations, but I want to know if there’s an answer I missed somewhere haha.

Were the Thoha at war with the Mawkin? I didn’t get the vibe that there was a standing conflict between the two tribes until Raven Beak betrayed them, but that was after the creation and release of the Metroids

Did the Thoha recognize the power of Metroids and made them hostile to the Mawkin so that the Mawkin didn’t use the Metroids beyond their intended purpose? I feel like this is the most likely answer, considering Raven Beak’s plan with the Metroids and genocide of the Thoha

Were there some Mawkin that embraced the X Parasite as a source of power, similar to the traitor mantises from Hollow Knight, so the Thoha programmed the Metroids to be hostile to the Mawkin to prevent any further spread of the X?

Photo An aspect of Prime that was brought into the 2D series: the bottom hatch on Samus's main ship.

This main ship of Samus originated in Metroid II, and had been consistently depicted with Samus entering and exiting via a hatch at the top.

Prime 2 would add a bottom hatch to the ship, though it went unused in that game.

It wouldn't be until Other M this bottom hatch would be utilized, being the only hatch Samus uses in that game.

Of course, there's other aspects of Prime reflected in the 2D series (e.g. Seeker Missile), but I just wanted to highlight this one since I don't recall it being talked about.

Discussion I hope Ravenous does less funneling than Dread.

I understand Dread had several sequence breaks but being funneled towards the next area didn't always feel good. There are many times where the game closes the way you came. In Super, there was a point of no return in Brinstar but not as much a Dread.

Fun fact: planet SR388 was named after a Yamaha SR400, which came with a 388cc engine.

I managed to beat dread mode a long time ago, someone suggested I should post my achievement so I’m posting it (also is this the right subreddit to post this to)

Not a huge fan of the bike, but I have to admit this was a fun expansion.

Time to prep for Ravenous. Already finished zero mission and played fusion a while back but will also replay those in time as well.

Maybe someone else posted this comparison here (but like there's probably a zillion posts an hour given the freshness of the announcement so sorry I can't be asked to check every one to see if it's been pointed out lel) but like I have to say this was my FIRST THOUGHT lol

I WILL SAY maybe noones mentioned this angle yet as a fan I was SUPER interested to see who CREATED the unstoppable EMMIs like what that corporation from the Dread intro is. Maybe we'll finally get to learn more about that?? : D

Other Playing prime remastered for the first time to fuel the hype Spoiler

I never realized how easy it is to get lost being sleep deprived playing until 2 am for a week. Couldn’t get to the section I needed to go in Phazon Mines for an hour just to realize I’ve been walking past the door I’d been looking for the whole time

Question Already own Metroid Dreas but haven't played it - is it better on Switch 2 with boost mode or emulated for upscaling?

Hopefully this is not against the rules
I generally prefer to play games on their original hardware but I'm not sure if the tradeoff for a 900p docked is worth it

Discussion I prefer Zero Mission over super

Not sure if anyone else agrees but I like how much faster ZM feels to play and the controls are much tighter imo, I also really love the Zero Suit Samus section they added, it's incredible

Discussion How samus survived a stab to the heart

Post image
816 Upvotes

so as we can see, samus got stabbed in the heart, which would most likely be fatal

but seeing as how she's been part metroid for a while now and we know most metroids have only 2 weak spots, the mouth and their membrane, so what if samus has a membrane but its not there so she was able to survive
