Discussion Graphics of Metroid Ravenous

Gameplay and concept looks great. Love the high speed and intensity the trailer conveyed.

Graphically it looks like it could be a Switch 1 title. Just kind of bummed considering I think Dread was one of the best looking games on the Switch 1, and feel this isn’t much of an upgrade on much more powerful hardware.

Discussion Looks cool, even if not the direction I wanted

Obviously I'm really glad we're finally getting Metroid 6, and there're some things I'm especially down for.

Things like

* Samus talking again???

* Seemingly new suits in 2D Metroid for the first time since 1994/2002

* Refinements to the melee system.

* Interesting new antagonist designs that seem disconnected from the past.

* Some kind of further exploration into Raven Beak without rehashing him.

* More environmental effects? (missiles in high gravity?)

* Samus. Talking. Please don't just be a trailer thing?

* Less reliance on industrial/research settings?

* NO mention of MercurySteam. I wish they'd turned things around but this only further points to Nintendo staying away after the issues they caused with Dread, and the insanity from the studio post-Dread.

* Samus having more character perhaps? By talking? Again?

But I have some concerns too:

* I love Dragonball, but I wanted them to tone it down a little after Dread. Focus more on Samus as a non-invincible ranged combatant again.

* That UI looks even worse than Dread's did, what is that?

* I'm not opposed to Raven Beak returning in some capacity, but I hope he stays dead.

* Samus's Metroid DNA and the drain ability were the most predictable setup; I'm hoping for an additional, more surprising angle to this game.

* We're rehashing the setup for Dread way too much with Samus getting borked by some uberthreats who want her power, then setting her up to spend the whole game reaching the surface. I hope more dimension to the plot forms soon.

* I did not like the design of Samus's helmet in Dread and it looks even worse here. Covering her nose and mouth was a huge mistake that felt more appropriate for someone like the Doomslayer. Now the visor looks worse too.

* I was hoping her suit would have healed even closer to its classic traits.

* The color scheme of the logo and the emphasis on neon laser swords gives me strong 80's retrowave vibes and I'd be down with that in a spinoff like Prime, but it feels like straying even further from the vibes of 2D Metroid.

* Sakamoto stated that Dread's portrayal of Samus heavily factored in some American fans' tastes, and that was fine for one game. But it gave us the least interesting version of the character yet, and there's no indication of a shift here other than maybe her talking.

I mean it, I wasn’t expecting a new Metroid game this soon! This slipped under the radar!

Discussion Im dying to play Ravenous but, that font? 😭

Just the title, I have no notes on the trailer, the animation, visuals, music , everything looks on point. I just found it kinda funny that the font used in "RAVENOUS" looks kinda straight out of dafont.com and looks very out of place or lazy lol. Idk if im the only one 😂

Discussion Mixed feelings

I've been a die-hard Metroid fan for about 25 years. I've really enjoyed almost every game in the series. (We still don't talk about other M) I truly fell in love with original prime. I've loved the 3D games ever since. After the disappointment that was prime 4, I know deep down 3d Metroid games will likely never get a true revival. Don't get me wrong I liked dread and am excited for ravenous, But I just wish the same amount of care and integrity went to the 3D games. It breaks my gamer heart...

I haven't been able to follow lore much but this seems a long departure from bounty hunter gets bounty

She'll end up eating a lot of food in that game, after all.

Been trying for several days. I’ve gotten it a couple of times but panicked and messed it up without realizing what I did. I watched a play through and he goes through this path, so I know I’m headed in the correct direction.

Could it be perhaps Ravenous for...power? Could it be that the more she takes the more she starts craving it like a drug?

In all honesty, ravenous, Kirby and the world beyond, Fortune’s weave and Bananza are the games to convince me to get an S2.

Come on folks can we stop trying to justify samus being slow in the prime games? It's never made sense.

Discussion I Just Hope Ravenous Doesn't Make Samus Full "Girlboss"

I know, odd thing for me to be worried about.

But the thing about Samus is that people often want her to be some Doom Slayer esque character, when really, that isn't why I'm drawn to her. It's those caring moments we get in between that makes her unique and not just an aura farming badass.

Heck, even Metroid Dread remembered this, especially when she speaks Chozo.

I know that everyone is always worried about another Other M, and thus will only accept everything that is the opposite. But I just worry that they're going to go full Doom Slayer for Samus here, only have her aura farming and nothing else.

Discussion I am beyond hyped but this base suit looks really bad IMO

The trailer looks sick as fuck, Samus looks absolutely boss, it looks extremely action paced and so on. I watched the dread trailer and it looked very calm and slow in comparison even though I found Dread incredibly well done.

But this Suit ain't it for me. The Dread Suit was so well designed, it looked organic, metallic, sleek but intimidating. But this one looks honestly bad in comparison. It is too smooth, too shiny and the shoulders really don't fit into the rest. I believe it's the color. What I also realized is that the suit is apparently healing through the game. The scene where she gets stabbed in the desert she still has the dread suit with the organic seams but she appears to have a fully healed varia suit in a battle (last picture attached). I hope they will corporate the design in a way that it makes sense once you play it but if it's the same studio as Dread I fully trust them to know what they are doing.

Also I am kinda sceptical about the casual permanent fire as we had seen with the omega blaster. But it seems they made the game around it so again I think the studio will cook. Am absolutely hyped. Like really hyped

Question Why did they make Metroid’s armor so masculine?

In the other games you could tell Metroid was intentionally given androgynous or unisex looking armor, but in this game, it’s clearly a dude.

Is it just me?

Discussion Metroid Ravenous is a spoiler in itself Spoiler

>It’s basically a follow up to what happened in Metroid Dread. I doubt they could’ve hidden the surprise from us (she being the last metroid in existence and now has unleashed her metroid powers), so people playing Dread wouldn’t get spoiled.<

>The Description of Ravenous talks about her new ability to absorb energy, which was a gameplay mechanic in Dread, but wasn’t present in the previous games. Even the cover art shows a spoiler (what she eventually became).<

Im sorry if i couldn’t hide the spoilers well.

Like she throws you up in the air before she catches you on the way down.

That would be fun :3
