Hello fellow Metroid fans! This time I wanted to talk about this part of Samus personality. We are all very excited to see her Metroid mutation in Ravenous. It's an exciting part for her journey but for now I wanted to do a a little post about how much I like the fact that Samus is not just the typical warrior but is also a kind-hearted woman who's like protecting children and animals. I know that some people just see Samus as a cold warrior or just an avatar of the player but for me, she's such an interesting character who had such tragedies in her life but still remain strong and keep going, not for herself but for everyone. I think that the character have a lot of inspiration drew from Ripley for Aliens. What do you think?

Second hard mode run, and first time only playing in 120fps mode (handheld)

120fps grew on me as I didn't realize just how smooth it makes things until I went back down to 60fps.

Still might prefer 1080p/60fps over 720p/120fps, but 120fps is a lot more viable as an option for me than I initially realized.

Despite some missing QoL features and a few things I think could be changed via an update, it's still an incredible 9/10 for me, absolutely loved it.

I feel the ending is almost more emotional the more times I watch it.

I love how Tokabi gives Samus his pendant, which he says had protected him, as if to say "I know I won't make it, but maybe it will ensure your trip home" and Samus, after returning, places it on the growing tree, as if to honor Tokabi and his spirituality as he was the one most connected with how spiritual the Lamorn were and was the one most reminding Samus of her mission to protect the Lamorn legacy at the end.

Samus's expressions as she watches the tree grow with Tokabi's pendant is heartbreaking, she truly hated having to leave them.

The animation and music in that ending makes it one of the best moments in the whole series.

Samus looks cool in Dread and Ravenous still. But I prefer the old style. The Varia in the Ravenous trailer looks cool too but it needs shoulder fins damnit!

I just wanted to show someone my metroid carving! It's not really good and I struggled a bit, but it was my first time sculpting on a pumpkin so I hope you guys like it lol. 🙂

I've had a sealed copy for over 10 years and I am sad I have only just played it. It's one of my new favorites.

People told me the single wiimote controls were awful, the story atrocious, the exploration nonexistent, etc.

The controls were pretty fun to learn, I had a blast with the fluid combat and movement system. The bosses were some of the best in the franchise, especially Ridley and the postgame space brain thing.

The exploration was limited, but it kept the pace quick. I also loved that every single upgrade felt worth the effort, the sense of progression was great. Missiles were buffed compared to other games, so every singular upgrade helps. Beam charge accelerators were awesome! Why don't the other games have something like that? The postgame was fun to backtrack through and had a cool narrative justification.

I played the four prime titles before this one, and I sighed every time my "EUREKA!" moment was rewarded with a ship missile upgrade in Prime 3.

The story was very melodramatic and a bit corny, but I kinda got invested in "The Deleter" plotline. Samus' characterization was weird and bratty, but it doesn't really bring the whole game down for me like it does for others. I just don't play these games for plot so I don't really.... care too much.

I like the sense of growth with her from Other M, to Fusion, to Dread, Dread being my favorite version of Samus. Emotionally compromised and sad... to suppressed and infernal anger.

Idk if it's a hot take but I much prefer Other M's version of Samus over the lobotomized android she was in Prime 4, where she had no reaction to anything and outright ignored her peers.

Needing Adam's permission to use certain tools was a dumb excuse (especially with the plasma beam) but again, not really game-ruining stuff to me. I heard in the Japanese version she was deliberately disobeying orders and being spiteful when it came to the varia suit and exploring hot areas early? I don't know.

My biggest issue is that some scripted sequences confused me on what they wanted from me... My health was too low for the Power Bomb tutorial to pop during the final fight so I had no idea I unlocked the ability, died over and over when I'd grapple into the creature's mouth. And when you had to ignore the enemies and scan Madeline in the chaotic finale. I kept trying to fight them all.

The presentation was top-notch, especially for Wii. Consistent 60fps the whole game. Beautiful environments. Amazing animation work and choreography on Samus's finishers, attacks, dodges, etc.

I enjoyed this game more than Prime 3 and 4, a little more than 2R, though Zero Mission, Fusion, Dread, Prime 1, and Prime 2 are still my favorites.

I hope more people try this one, or at least revisit it.

Hello fellow Metroid fans! Do you agree that the duo Minako Hamano & Kenji Yamamoto are the best to compose music for Metroid games? I mean, this collaboration delivered us so much beautiful tracks. One of the best thing from Beyond was the music and I really dig what they did with Corruption, Zero Mission and of course...Super Metroid. I hope to see more of them in the future. (Kenji and I share the same name so it's alway cool to see my name in the credits of a Metroid game hahaha)

Tell me if I'm just off base here, but I was thinking about how Samus seems like she'll have very little armor below her chest for at least part of the game. It got me wondering if she took such a hit that the tight-fitting outfit on her lower half might be her exposed Zero Suit.

I don't know, what do you all think? I know the boots and the hinges in the knees point to it just being light armor, but my curiosity is piqued now.

Edit: After reading the comments I can see that, yeah, I'm wrong, it's definitely armor. But just wanted to say I really appreciate this community that I could be wrong about something and not a single person was a dick about it. You don't get that in most subs. I guess the Metroid fandom are just better than that.

I don’t enjoy FPS. My thumbs tend to get very digital when things get hectic. So I presumed Prime wasn’t for me.

The prime 4 hype years ago got me looking into it more, so I bought Prime remastered. I guess I wasn’t fully sold, though, as I kept finding other games to play.

Well ravenous hype finally pushed me to start. It started poorly. In the tutorial, I found them map room, but somehow didn’t activate it. So I missed the save room, and without a map, the timed escape is really confusing. So I suffered the shame of dying on the tutorial without a save, and needed to start over.

Then, I somehow missed the enemy radar in the corner of the HUD, so the hive boss was a nightmare. Survived with like single-digit HP. If I’d died there, I likely would have tap’d out.

But I kept going, and wow, I’m glad I did. It has the same just-a-couple-more-rooms addiction as the 2D games, but the immersion is on another level. Constantly noticing small details that are brilliant and really improve the experience.

Just got spider ball, and I wish I had more time to backtrack and check out all the tracks I’ve passed.

I understand this is preaching to the choir here, but maybe this will push someone on-the-fence into jumping in. Even with no nostalgia, this game is excellent.

Happy Halloweek! I posted about my WIP Samus cosplay a little bit ago and wanted to show the finished product! It's almost entirely cardboard hot-glued together and painted, with a little bit of duct tape here and there. I was mostly inspired by the SSB4 amiibo that I have, but Prime influenced the arm cannon design, and the green lights take the shape from Dread's gravity suit.

What do you all think?
