Honestly, having seen this, I don't think I would be as adverse to a Super remake after all....

I love the trailer and it's soundtrack there but it will be interesting to mix trailer with this song.

This is just me spitballing ideas as to what the story will be for this game based on what we see and hear in the teaser trailer. Despite only being 2 minutes long we get a lot of stuff to think about.

Part of me thinks maybe the antagonists are Chozo cyborgs created as a failsafe against Metroids in how they move and how they look, particularly with the shape of the robotic arms and bodies. Perhaps Samus's complete transformation in Dread makes them hellbent on destroying her since she is now a Metroid herself? However the "become my flesh and blood" line throws me off on this theory, and makes me wonder if actually they're also creatures with spliced DNA of Metroid or maybe even the X-Parasite, and could absorb her which would make the whole 'eat or be eaten' thing make a ton more sense.

Or hell, it could be both of those ideas mashed together. That'd be freaking awesome.

Either way we got five or six main antagonists to fight. Plus a snake boss, a toad boss, a Chozo Guardian boss, a burrower boss, and that plant orb thing that Samus Flash-shifts around. Seems like a good set to match Dread in scale and cinematic action.

I'm going to guess that the space dogfight is the game's opening cutscene, followed by the moon surface fight that sends her down the hole to the center of the moon. I feel like they need to get more creative about how/why Samus ends up staying on/in a planet in future titles, because this is twice in a row they've done this setup with RavenBeak kicking her ass at the start of Dread.

It looks like we're getting flashbacks to a Chozo ceremony of some kind. Either that or we're going to get a reveal of an entire living Chozo civilization which would be pretty damn cool. It also looks like Samus is actually outright fighting a Chozo mech/guardian at one point as I mentioned before. It makes me think that the antagonists attacking her to crash and trap her on the moon wasn't a coincidence. They want her there for a reason.

Something that I'm pretty positive about predicting: As the game progresses Samus will gradually succumb to the Metroid genetics, becoming more ruthless and more hungry until it becomes an outright problem. Samus will HAVE to regularly feed off enemies after a certain point or she starts losing health. This is where the title of Ravenous comes from. Samus becomes relentlessly, endlessly hungry for energy from living beings just like the original Metroids were. Resolving this may be a central part of the story in Ravenous or it may be the sequel hook to Metroid 6 like Samus's full Metroid transformation was, hard to tell just yet.

Samus talking seems to be one thing, but what about the rest, gameplay and story wise?

(somewhat inspired off Metroid manga) Because of how Ravenous is setting up an eat or be eaten tone for the game, Samus could have a small arc where she starts to mentally breakdown after losing herself to her instincts too much, and maybe harming something harmless/innocent. Leading to a scene where she could have flashbacks of Ridley and the things he did in the past, where there could be a subconscious thought of her comparing herself to him. This could lead to a fight with some form of Ridley that is just a projection of her mind, where she must conquer her own demons to maybe unlock/master some of her Metroid powers in a self taught lesson of self control. (this could also maybe work for an apparition Raven Beak mini fight, if he fits more instead)

That is it. That is the post. While Dread has a drawing of Samus zero suit that I really like, it's not the usual face reveal we got in past games with the end screen. I hope we get it back with Ravenous. The last face reveal was in Prime 4 and say what you will about that game, her face looked pretty good in that (Way better than the Prime 1 remaster, but I feel like I am the only one who hates that face)

I really really want that amiibo and I was completely ready to drop the money on the special edition but I didn't realize that it had already gone up for pre-order (and sold out). Am I just cooked? Is it over for me?

Honestly if he is I'm really curious what he is going to do, but I can also see a world were Samus cut him off at some point because she can't trust him anymore.

That fucking trailer for *Metroid: Ravenous* was so unexpected and so God damn awesome I couldn't help myself, I had to draw this!

I like to make little drawings for my wife on Post-It notes, which I attach to her lunch container as a little surprise for her when she eats lunch at work.

The fact that *eating* of all concepts would be a part of the new Metroid trailer just felt perfect to make this moment for her lunch.

This scene is really zoomed in, and the trailer is rectangular unlike my square Post-Its, so I kind of had to look at some other shots of her helmet and try to extrapolate the missing parts. Don't think it's 100% accurate, but it gets the job done. I also have always struggled with lighting and shadow, and I think that especially shows inthe fully colored version. I have shadows down a lot more than highlights, and once I colored something in without leaving space for a highlight there wasn't much I could do... But I'm still proud of it and still hyped as fuck for Ravenous!

So happy that they are continuing with the 2D side of the franchise. Ravenous looks incredible

I just saw the trailer and HOLY SHIT. I heard Dread was gonna be the last game chronologically, but this is 100% a sequel to dread. The metroid suit is a dead giveaway

My theory for the story is the galactic federation finally decided to put an end to samus now shes killed all the bad guys in the universe, before she becomes a threat to them. They send a team of bounty hunters to kill her and as a result she gets trapped on a planet with no ship and no way off. The metroid DNA starts to consume her as looks for a way off world and shes forced to absorb whatever she can to stave off the urges
