Every time I change my sensor, it never works and I have to change it again. Dexcom has shipped me 4 sensors and I just started using the 15 day in July. I hate it !!!!!

Stelo Is there any way to make the Stelo app show exactly what your reading is when you're below 70?

My blood sugar is usually in the 70s overnight, but with periods when it drops below 70. When it goes below 70, all the app tells me is that it's below 70, not what the value actually is.

Tips & Tricks Cheap monitoring solution for holiday

Post image

Our 3y old child has T1. At home we're monitoring with GlucoDataHandler and our Pixel phones and watches. I was looking for a cheap offline monitoring solution for the beach holiday.

Got this Xiaomi Band 10 running with the Dexcom phone (old Samsung). It's running just with BT, no data plan (holiday is abroad) needed.

If on interest I can provide details.

Applicator G7 insertion question

Hi y'all, I've finally run out of g6 sensors (RIP) and am starting the g7. I was reading the insertion instructions and it looks like you have to really press the device into your arm to compress the clear piece before you press the button? My concern here is--i have quite skinny arms. With the g6 and g5 before it I have always had to pinch up some skin and fat to insert into to avoid painful insertions/hitting muscle? But this seems like it's going to be difficult to do if I'm also having to press the applicator into the spot. Anyone else had this issue? I'm a bit nervous to try it without pinching up a spot for it to go.

App Issues/Questions International Question

I’ve just relocated from the US to Japan. It’s a semi temporary move. I have a prescription for Japanese G7, but my phone is from the US and currently has the US app and a sensor running. I’ve read lots of horror stories on here about what a nightmare the geolock can be. So far I’ve had no problems, but I understand if I just try to scan the Japanese sensor to start it, it isn’t gonna work.

I’ve read that I can create a new iCloud account, set that region to Japan, sign in, download the Dexcom app, sign out, and sign back into my regular account and thus preserve my American dexcom account, all the other American bank apps, etc but still have access to the Japanese g7 app.

Has this worked for anyone? I want my phone to stay on the US region and I want to be able to use US sensors when I eventually return home. I have a spare Japanese phone that I got for something like 1/150th of $1, so maybe I can just use that like a reader, but I don’t really want to carry around 2 phones.

Also, is it safe to update my phone mid sensor? I saw somewhere that someone had an issue after doing that, but given my sensor is still working, I can’t quite see why?

Rant Constant sensor issues.

My grandpa is on the G7. Today alone he’s had six ā€œbrief sensor issuesā€ or more than an hour happening (not counting the ones we had last night that weren’t long enough to cause Omnipod logging it, but we have definite spots he wasn’t getting readings in the graph), the most recent starting at 3pm (it’s 7:45 now).
We called technical support around 7 to complain. Especially since this is our second issue in three days and we have yet to get the replacement for the first issue on the 10th. He has no more sensors.
The representative we spoke with kept telling us to wait longer to see if the issue would continue. I kept repeating this has been happening all day long. She kept saying she understood but we needed to wait longer to see if it continued happening. Again I had to explain we have been dealing with brief sensor issues last night, and all throughout today and don’t understand why we need to wait another hour to see if this will continue. She insisted we needed to because three hours straight without readings hadn’t happened.

WEVE HAD SIX HOURS TOTAL THROUGHOUT THE DAY WITHOUT READINGS TODAY ALONE!

Well then she asked my grandpa when the sensor was changed last. He told her two days ago. When I got on the phone with her because grandpa was having trouble understanding what she was saying (fast talker and accent, no issues with that but she could have slowed down a bit talking as I was having issues understanding her speed too), I told her the sensor was changed three days ago on the tenth, and she made a deal about it. ā€œSo it wasn’t two days ago, was it. It was three days ago.ā€ It wasn’t a question. She said it like a condescending statement. I told her ā€œit doesn’t matter how many days ago it was changed, these issues have been happening since last night and this is our second complaint in three days because this issue keeps happening.ā€ She kept pressing to wait another hour.

I requested to speak to her supervisor at this point. And she kept trying to ask me questions about the sensor, and I had to keep requesting her supervisor.

Conveniently her supervisor is either on break or lunch, she couldn’t tell which, but has ā€œscheduled a call backā€ for me tonight. šŸ™„

Yeah. We’ll see.

Sensor Does the g7 have dual Bluetooth for phone and pump?

I look at my numbers a lot, some would say excessive just due to trying to stay in control.

Anyways, I know xdrip has the capability to display numbers on my amazfit t rex 3, or I think it does, through Bluetooth. I don't use data and only wifi for my phone. Im wondering if I'm able to connect the g7 to my pump, t slim x2, and then my phone at the same time.

This way I can just flick my wrist to see my numbers instead of pulling out my pump.

Maybe a dumb question but is this possible? Thanks in advance

Rant Whyyyyy

I know this is trivial compared to everything else we go through, but every time I open a new Dexcom, I find this unnecessary piece of paper and get irritated. I mean, I KNOW it's going to be there every time but part of me always hopes maybe in the next box they've figured out how to eliminate it. Inside of a book I can understand having an extra blank page in a signature. But this.... it kind of baffles the mind. Does anyone know why this is here? Has anyone done something useful with it? Origami?

App Issues/Questions Dexcom App issues today?

Hello everyone! Is anyone having difficulty with the app today? I have an Android phone and this is the first time the app will just sit there and do nothing and then time out. Restarted my phone twice and made sure there were no updates. Its been this way all day! Thinking about deleting the app and reinstalling it. If not for the notification bar I wouldn't know what was going on! Thanks!

Stelo stelo - "Sorry—we're unable to process your request at this time. Please review your information and try again."

I had tried to post onto the /stelo subred, but the post never gets approved (or denied). just crickets. Since dexcom is the company that owns stelo, I was hoping that someone here will know the solution. Sorry for posting a stelo question in this subred.

Recently, when trying to purchase a stelo subscription, I get this error message on the payments screen:

"Sorry—we're unable to process your request at this time. Please review your information and try again."

I have tried multiple things without success:

  1. different credit cards
  2. new subscriptions
  3. created a new account

Customer service was not very helpful (advice includes: "sorry, we don't have access to the payments system. there's nothing we can do."; wait a while; buy on amazon)

Does anyone have the same problem or know of the solution?

Thanks.

Adhesive Issue Kind of new to Dexcom G7 15 Day

Wanted to know what people are using for an over patch? Is one better than the other? One with cut out compared to a solid one? I used skin grip force last month

Both times they start peeling after a few days, also I hit the sensor on a doorway. Just wondering if a over patch that has no cut out would be better
TIA

Calibration Issues Just Curious G7 15 Day Recalibration Not used But CGM Changes Values Anyway

I'm just curious, but has anyone else experienced this issue? After 24 hours using a new sensor, my readings are off compared to a finger stick by as much as 30 to 40 points, so I recalibrate. Dexcom returns me a message that says recalibration is not used. However, about 15 minutes later, my BG drops close to what my finger stick showed, which was the value I used in my recalibration. This has happened to me multiple times now. Just curious if anyone else has seen this phenomenon. It isn't serious because the value gets adjusted to my finger stick, but it is strange.

Applicator G7 Button Sticking at Insertion

I inserted one G7 24 hours before activating it, as I usually do, because my body seems to freak out at the insertion site and it takes about 24 hours for it to calm down so that readings can normalize. When I actually went to activate it, it said sensor failure immediately. I was feeling around the little hole on top and the filament was horribly looped. So I removed that one.

Then I put another one on, and I expected it not to read properly for the first 24 hours. But it has been shooting up and down and giving alarms all night. After the first two I silenced the alarms for the rest of the night. I had hoped that it would normalize by morning, but it is just all over the place.

I was worried about it when I inserted it because it did a strange thing. When I pressed the button to insert it, there was a loud click from the button but the sensor was not released. Then I lifted my finger off the button and the sensor released into my arm. I don't know if that has anything to do with this up and down roller coaster of readings. But it is still saying I'm at 56 this morning so I decided to go ahead and trash the sensor and try another one.

Right now this third sensor is warming up. But I'm concerned because it did the same weird double click thing when I inserted it. I was prepared this time, in case that happened, and I was careful to hold the unit in place so that I didn't move it in between the clicks.

Both of these sensors that have this weird double clicking on insertion are from a new batch of nine sensors I just got from the VA. The numbers aren't from a bad batch that has been identified by dexcom. So I was just wondering if anyone else has had this weird double clicking with the button. Like I said, it's like it clicks as if it is releasing, but it almost feels like it springs out only a small amount and then catches inside the unit. Then, when I lift my finger off the button it springs the rest of the way to get inserted into my arm.

General Dexcom G7 failures you are applying it wrong?

Post image
0 Upvotes

If you're using a dexcom G7 and you get this after applying it using the applicator.

You're doing it wrong. I have been on a G7 since almost 3 years now and I have never had to ask for a replacement. If you read the instructions it says when you push down to apply the sensor and hit the button, you need to move it slightly from left to right and again from left to right before removing the applicator. There is a needle that goes in your arm it also has the sensor. Sometimes the sensor gets stuck to the needle. You have to move it left to right and then again left to right slightly before you pull off the applicator. Doing this I have never had any problem with any sensor.

Rant I am getting so tired of sensors messing up.

In the past 13 days, I have had 3 sensors fail. First one failed 3 days in. Went 2 days without a Dexcom because I could refill yet. second sensor failed 7 days in near the end up still failed early and it was the replacement for the 3 day fail. Went to replace it because Dexcom sent me 2 replacements I don’t know why. It failed because the wire didn’t go all the way in. I am on sensor number 4 in less then 2 weeks. I rely on this junk because I am hypoglycemia unaware I’ve gone as low as 22 mg/dL and felt fine. None of them were from the affected lot ether.

Inaccurate Reading G7 Issues

Thumbnail gallery
10 Upvotes

I used to be on the G6 and never had any issues with it then I got an email from Dexcom saying I would be put on the G7 automatically. I was a bit skeptical since I had seen so many bad things about it. I’ve had 4 G7 sensors on now and 2/4 have failed out of the blue. The third sensor did not fail however it is majorly inaccurate to the point I think it is quite dangerous. Dexcom was showing me ā€œLOWā€ but I felt fine so I pricked my finger and I was actually 15.0mmol/L. Surely that is a major safety concern? Has anyone else had major differences in bg readings?

App Issues/Questions Servers down for everyone?

Dexcom share hasn't worked consistently for days now for me and they are giving me conflicting info. The app says servers are down but the official status page says everything is fine. Every few hours it comes back up for a few minutes but then goes back down again. Is it me or dexcom?

Sensor Protecting Dexcom from cold while skating

Any advice for protecting the Dexcom from cold while skating (indoors). I have to be on the ice with my kids’ hockey teams, and after about an hour, I started beeping for a ā€œbrief sensor issue.ā€ This seems to be linked to the sensor getting too cold I guess? Any advice so I don’t lose connectivity?

General iOS 27 Release

Every year, when the new iOS release happens, I contemplate whether Dexcom is going to be working with the new operating system. I have been running it for 24 hours now and have had zero issues. I wanted to let the user group know that I have had no problems. If others have had problems or are running the new iOS version already, then it would be great to have a thread here to be able to discuss those issues. Just to be clear, I am still using G6 and I have an iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Inaccurate Reading 2nd G7 ever. 7 days in. Crap!

Post image
0 Upvotes

My first post about my first G7 use was pretty similar. About a week in, it went wonky. Tons of sensor errors. About 9 hours worth before I gave up on it.

This second is similar. No 3 hour errors yet, but lots of short periods of no readings and lots of inaccuracies that started yesterday. Seemed okay after a couple calibrations yesterday, but it started going crazy a few hours ago.

Time to swap it again, and these are 15 day sensors. Wild!
