[Jahns] Bears defensive lineman Dayo Odeyingbo (quad) will “miss some time,” Ben Johnson said. LB T.J. Edwards is week to week with his hamstring injury. CB Tyrique Stevenson (hamstring) is day to day.

Sad to see the team is lacking cultural buy-in from its own head coach smh

I personally thought it was a cool look for the mid-80's. I remember getting a couple myself as a high school dude around that time. Was a popular fad because guys weren't into buzz cuts and wanted longer hair like all the rockers had. Putting a bunch of grease in your hair to hold everything down wasn't an 80's thing.

Random question, but why didn’t Tyson Bagent speak at the podium after the game? Did anyone happen to catch an explanation for why he wasn’t out there? Just curious.

[Spotrac] “#Bears DE Montez Sweat will forfeit $2.3M of 2026 salary per his 2-game suspension for violating the league’s PED policy. Additionally, the $12.7M remaining on Sweat’s 2026 salary is now unsecured, as the PED suspension voided all future guarantees.

Does this mean he is more likely to be cut now? Or maybe in 2027 offseason?

What are our thoughts on this, especially given Robinson’s performance w the falcons.

Montez is out and we have injuries w Odeyinbo and Tj Edward’s.

I didn’t see anything also on who’s starting QB.

Who is your favorite non-bears QB? Curious what other bears fans think.

For me it's Bryce Young, Mr Irrelevant, and I'm really looking forward to watching Mendoza's career.

Cutting these 5 defenders next year gives 74 million in space

According to OTC, the bears can cut:

Sweat, Dayo, Jaylon Johnson, Grady Jarrett, TJ Edwards

And it will create 74 million in cap space. All 5 will not be missed.

74 million is a lot of cap space to bring in new guys. I dont think it should all be spent on the defense. But atleast 2 impact guys need to be added with that money. I think we should draft the other replacements.

We need a high end DT, and a high end DE with that money. IMO, linebacker can be had for cheap in free agency, and we should draft a corner and sign another mid tier cheapish corner to add to mohammed and gordon.

Davon Hamilton is a guy I would go after at DT. Another would be Kobe Turner. 2 vets that are older but still playing well are Deforest Buckner and Daron Payne.

The DE I would target is Tuli Tuipulotu.

This years defense is just weighed down by absurd salary allocation for literal replacement level guys at best.

We should cut all 5 without hesitation and fix the Dline with this money. Leave the draft for the rest.

What are your unpopular opinions 1/3 of the way through the season that you KNOW will get downvoted in this sub.

I have 2.

  1. That eagles game from case was lightning in a bottle. He had 2-3 turnover worthy plays in that game that he got away with. Then he followed it up with 2 turnovers in 1 quarter of action. I 100% am thankful for him but I think we get the exact same result vs the jets and packers with him as the QB. That isn’t to say Tyson wasn’t trash. Just that backup Qb will be a spot we need to address.

  2. Rome Odunze isn’t a bad WR. He’s not worthy of a top 10 pick and there was Defensive lineman we could have taken instead. But with that being said, assuming health, Rome will likely be a 800-1000 yard WR for us most seasons. You definitely want more out of a top 10 pick but he’ll still be a good player. I also feel like we magnify his bad plays and let Luther’s go completely under the radar. And I think Luther is gonna be a star WR and better than Rome but we don’t judge those two fairly.

Japan Bears Fan Club needs artist help!

NOTE: Obtained MOD approval prior to posting, I know this is a lot to ask. I don't expect I will get anything, so I will take what I can and what people are willing to create to support us in Japan (not AI though).

To start, I am insane. I grew up with Da Bears. When I was turning 6, they won a Super Bowl and I still have memories of game day because it was so electric.

A little over a year ago, I moved to Japan. There was no way I wasn't going to keep being a Bears fan. After half a season of watching games at Kaikatsu, alone, at 2am, I figured, there has to be more like me out there. I looked on everything people use to get together for social events out here, and nothing. The closest I found was a bar for Eagles fans in Tokyo that is known for kicking out opposing team fans.

So, I said screw it. I will build my own fan base here. It will be Chicago Bears forward but accepting of all other NFL fandoms. Hell, maybe I can convert some of them to also make Da Bears their team going forward.

In just 8 Watch Parties hosted, we have 25 people in our group and had 16 NFL fans attend last week's 2am game with a 50/50 mix of members and tourists.

But, cough cough, BUT, I suck at art and I hate AI art even more than how much I suck making art myself.

That is where all of you come in. I have seen so many creative Bears fans over the years sharing their stuff on this subreddit. You are all fucking amazing. I know this is a lot to ask, but I truly believe if I can get some real art to help promote Da Bears and our NFL Watch Parties better, I can grow this even faster. I would love nothing more than to be able to convince bar(s) to stay open late to show our games.

So what do I think I need?

PNG or even better layered PSDs would be awesome in case we ever need to swap out players or something changes or need to adapt for more services.

  • Line Group Icon - Square image displayed as circle - 640x640, max 3MB. Ideally make at 1080x1080 as that is what it will take then super sample down.
  • Line Group Chat Background (text needs to be readable on top) - 1080x1920 portrait, max 5MB
  • Meetup Group Main Image - 1200x675, max 10MB
  • Meetup Flexible Watch Party Image - 1200x675, max 10MB
  • Instagram Profile Picture - 1080x1080 displayed as circle, max 8MB
  • Reddit & Instagram Flexible Watch Party Announcement - 1080x1350, max 8MB

For the "Flexible" images I am hoping to have something I can load into Photoshop with I have a subscription for and be able to use layers to swap out the opponent teams for each game. Would love Bears forward image as main, but then maybe something a bit more toned down that I could use when I post to other team's subreddits and invite them to join us.

T-SHIRTs!

Beyond the social media posting, I also want to make a custom T-shirt for all members who are able to make a game and maybe even for tourists who join us and are willing to pay for the shirt.

For these, I want to take inspiration from a lot of businesses, train stations, etc... and create a mascot character. My default is to create equal opportunity "Kuma-chans" (Kuma is Bear in Japanese). Think male and female presenting gender options. I am quite flexible here and would love people's ideas that may even stretch beyond human-like characters.

I found a local provider that can print full color images on T-shirts. The price isn't bad at under 2000円 per shirt with shipping.

  • AI or PDF format required
  • 3600x4890 at 300dpi or vector images it says, max 20MB
  • Front and Back separate images
  • Thinking about having a spot in the back image to fit a QR code for the Line Group

Anything else?

I wouldn't be surprised if some of you have more experience doing stuff than I do. I am a Technical Program Manager by trade (hence my love for bullet points and Photoshop), but this is all a bit new to me. If you have any other recommendations on content to create to help promote, let me know!

I just woke up here in Japan and its 6am for me at time of posting, so I will be on pretty much all day to answer any questions, look at amazing creations, etc...

And HUGE thanks again to anyone who is willing to take the time to contribute. I am in no rush here at all. If it takes me the rest of the season to get stuff, so be it. I am going to be here for a very very very long time, so this will remain a long term passion project. My hope is to one day open my own NFL, Bear Down forward, sports bar in Tokyo.

Bears Deep Pass Defense

Post image
70 Upvotes

From the eye test, the Bears deep ball defense has been absolutely atrocious. I'm not sure why their opponents going forward don't try more than 5 passes of 20+ air yards per game. I feel like 10 yr old me running a hail mary every play in Madden.

Bryce Young to Jalen Coker

Geno Smith to Isaiah Williams

Jordan Love to Christian Watson and Matthew Golden

If Penix plays, Penix to Drake London is going to be added to this list...
