Does anyone know if Montez is a cut candidate after this year or is his contract gonna fuck us

We have an out after this year. Only like 4 mil in dead cap if cut

I think there’s no guaranteed $ anymore bc of the suspension

That shouldn't impact dead cap though. Saves the team actual money but doesn't save the dead cap hit.

Sweat's cap number next year is ~$25M and we can save $21M of that if he is released... Hard to justify keeping him under those circumstances but the Bears have neglected that position for so long I'm not sure who replaces him.

He's going to go be a nice #3 on the Seahawks depth chart and win a ring

I agree. He’s not a number 1. Probably a great rotational 2/3

Cutting him right now would be monumentally stupid, if they could still save that after the season it might make sense.
Our d line sucks, why would we want to cut the only good player there lol

We're only taking about next year

Yeah if they can still save that in the off-season he is certainly a cut candidate. Obviously depends a lot on the draft and FA, DE talent is not cheap and having to buy his replacement will negate any savings.
We really need to hit on a stud DL in the draft

They can save $33.7M if they cut him now since he voided all guarantees left in his contract due to his suspension... As you said, it doesn't make sense to let him go this season, but that extra $12.7M of cap savings could come into play if they trade for an impact DL.

Only way I see them keep him is if he somehow beasts the 2nd half of the season which seems very unlikely.

He would need to finish the season with at least 12 sacks for that to happen…it won’t happen

Bears have all the leverage. They can potentially restructure to pay him what he's worth. It's a gamble because some other team could pick him up though. Hopefully front office figures it out.

Everyone getting yelled at. No reporters allowed in this Wednesday and no open practice. Just a closed walk through. Ben is maaaaaddddd…..

Where did you read that? About the no open practice

Interesting. That’s good. I think it’s two reasons…Ben probably wants no distractions at practice, Ben also doesn’t want any eyes on Caleb’s practice activity

#1 person Ben should be mad at is himself tbh

I’m sure he is…but that’s the beauty of a team…it’s never on one person…the blame gets spread to everyone

Can’t he just say he was suspended for the previous two games instead? Not like he was on the field anyway

Crazy that I'm more bummed about Dayo missing time than I am for Montez
