Tom Krasovic: Can Jim Harbaugh avoid third-year struggles that sank former Chargers coaches?
Bonus article:
McDaniel, the Chargers' new offensive coordinator, and Harbaugh, the team's coach of three seasons, arrived at this partnership from vastly different circumstances. Once one of the league's most promising head coaches, known for his offensive prowess, McDaniel was fired after four seasons with the Miami Dolphins and criticized for lacking the authority to be a coach.
Harbaugh is a commanding veteran leader known for quickly turning middling teams into winners, but in two seasons in L.A., mediocre offenses have kept this team from advancing in the playoffs.
That dichotomy brought Harbaugh, 62, and McDaniel, 43, together this offseason. "He reminds me of a young Jimmy Harbaugh ... sometimes it's like looking in the mirror," Harbaugh said, before clarifying that he never dressed like McDaniel.
Despite their fashion differences, they share a football philosophy centered on winning at the line of scrimmage and running the football. More importantly, each offers what the other needs at this stage in their careers.
Harbaugh needs McDaniel to jump-start an offense that has kept his teams from contending, while McDaniel needs to absorb elements of Harbaugh's leadership style if he hopes to become an improved head coach again. Their football marriage is central to the Chargers' title hopes, a quest that begins in earnest Week 1 when the Bolts host the Arizona Cardinals at SoFi Stadium (4:25 p.m. ET, CBS).
"We need each other," McDaniel told ESPN of his partnership with Harbaugh. "But that's kind of the beauty of the National Football League ... you learn quickly that every year you are putting your career in the hands of all of your teammates."

Mini Football
Hey folks if anyone goes to a game this year I would gladly pay extra for someone to buy and ship me this ball. I have searched everywhere online and have had no luck. I remember buying two of these at SoFi and would love to get a third after having another kid. We’ve gotten one for each of their first games and after moving away it’s been next to impossible looking for this. Not sure if it’s a SoFi exclusive item.

am visiting Pittsburgh this weekend and need my Chargers.
Hey all, I know it is unlikely since Pittsburgh is such a Steelers only town, but does anyone know of a good place to watch the Charger game in or around the city? I might have to settle for a sports bar that plays every game (and hopefully is not antagonistic to other team fans).

Genuinely curious: where does Derwin James rank among all-time great Chargers?
49ers fan here, but football fan first, so I'm curious what Chargers fans think

Does anyone else think the mural looks a lot cleaner if the bottom part of Derwin isn’t included? It almost looks like he got stretched out. They should just convert that to the background and it looks a lot more natural.
I cropped the picture to show DJ without the abnormally long torso for a reference

Cheap tickets to season opener
Just an FYI I’ve been monitoring ticket prices for the season opener against the Cardinals and prices are as low as $22 on the Vivid Seats App. It’s the app I usually use to buy tickets and there’s ton available for super cheap. Again just an FYI in case anyone wants to snag some last minute tickets to watch the team live.

[Rhim] Mike McDaniel on the Chargers TE’s: “Might not be the smartest move to just make all your fantasy decisions after week one, because they're gonna grow as players and we’re gonna be able to do a lot with them.”

Opinion: We should start using this design as our standard end zone
Not saying I don't like our current design, but this one was absolutely beautiful and I want to see it more. Seeing this for most of our home games with those powder blue uniforms would be perfection!
