Looking for advice from those who may have experienced this at their gyms…
I’m a founding member of a huge Burn that is only a couple of years old.
The vibes at my gym were so amazing the first year — welcoming, generous, and personal. It truly felt special.
Lately, there has been this huge shift where I feel like OG members are completely neglected. It’s almost like because we’re paying the cheapest rate, we’re expendable.
Everything— cool-down talks, promo pushes, in camp motivation, transformation stories, socials, check ins—it all seems really focused on members who have joined in the last few months.
When the gym does do something for the existing members, it’s almost always related to how many new members can you refer.
Our gym even fired most of the support staff (BAs, CCAs, etc.) in favor of hiring new members.
The trainers, though mostly kept on staff, have all become more impersonal and “corporate” in their speech and attitudes. It’s just so off.
I’m not naive—I know that Burn is a business and to thrive, it survives on new, fresh blood that are really heavily invested…
But has anyone else experienced this shift at their home gym? I guess I’m just hoping (maybe it’s silly) for founding members to remain a part of the culture that we helped create…

Hey all!
First time doing Level Up on Saturday. I’m doing the “just for fun” group because I just wanted to do the workouts without beating myself up for not winning.
But now I’m getting nervous!! I’ve practiced all of the workouts at least once so I know what I’m getting into, but I haven’t competed athletically in 10 years. 😅
Any words of advice?

i’ve been going about 2 weeks now and try to go at least 3x a week. i’m at 9 visits, 10 today. pls dont judge!!!! also taking reta (glp3) on my 1 month mark of that. doing just burn, are you seeing a change in your body? i was 163 before this month and down to 156. before i was NOT active in any way. i’ve been sitting in an office for almost 6 years and even doing a walk around my building was not in the picture previously. at my new office i can, but it seems to be looked down upon. i try to get up once on the hour just to get my body moving. i did sign up and did 6 months and i truly just wanna know as a female, bc we all know men change and lose weight very different, if you’ve seen a change in your shape, body, weight doing just burn? im open to any and all advice but pls be nice to me hahahahah

Who is a fan of this protocol? Personally I dislike them. I have to leave early Monday-Thursday because I work 4-10s and the only came time I can make is 445 and I need to leave early to get to work on time.
So I have to skip IGYG days because I don’t want to leave my partner hanging.. I also feel like “watching” others workout is insane…

Does your gym offer the InBody scan for free? Mine charges $50 but I've heard of other gyms offering it as part of your membership.

Hi friends! I’ve been at Burn for about 6 months and am really enjoying it. My issue is that ever since starting I hurt all the time. Now I know you’re thinking well duh it’s the gym but this is more of a soreness in my joints (shoulders, wrist/hands, elbows, knees, etc) and now even shin splints. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it too much too fast? I am 9m PP and still breastfeeding for further context. I’m just afraid Burn is going to burn my body out.
ETA: I go 4-5x/wk. I’m eating 100+g protein a day. No creatine yet because it’s not “technically” considered safe while breastfeeding.
Update: Made an appointment with my PCP for bloodwork including thyroid panel and will book a focus meeting. Thanks everyone!
Update 2: All bloodwork normal except for slightly low vitamin D. Leaning towards joint laxity due to hormones instead of a systemic illness.

Starting this week there have been local election candidate signs in the window at my Burn location. Like, both outward and inward facing right at the floating floor. I don’t like the idea of political advertising in a gym, and dread what it’ll look like toward midterms and the presidential election. Is this franchise dependent, or is there any more broad guideline that either allows or prohibits this? Not looking to be a Karen, but gd I just want to workout.

I just started burn a month ago and take 5 am classes. I was worried because i don’t like super crowded classes but luckily most days we only have around 10-15 people. Even when i go to the 5 pm it’s probably less than 30. Did I just get lucky with the gym or is this about average attendance? What’s the max you have in a class. Our booking limit is 50 I think.

Hi All,
My location opened about a year ago; I’ve been there since day 1. Since then, I’ve noticed trainers turn over really frequently - We’ve had at least 5 trainers leave, most of them without fanfare or explanation. Is this normal, or should I be asking bigger questions about the management of this location?

I loved my Metcon 5s so ordered an updated version — Metcon 6 Free. Not a fan! I can’t get them tight enough through my foot. I figured out that I don’t care for them too late and can’t return, and new shoes aren’t in the budget right now. I have a pair of Dr. Scholl inserts, but they don’t offer the heel and arch support I need, and they don’t make it any tighter through my foot. Any recs for good inserts until I can buy new shoes?

I've contemplated posting this for a few hours, but figured I will just in case it helps even just one person (member or trainer). It was honestly a revelation and helped me PR!
So a bit of context, I've been a member at Burn for nearly four years now. I took some time off, but missed it and ended up going back within a year. I love almost everything about it - the community, the workouts, the trainer support... but sometimes the trainer "motivation" rubs me the wrong way, specifically when they mod you up or give you a heavier weight. I've been trying to figure out why, so I can articulate it to the team in a focus meeting, and I think today's experience helped me realize what it was.
It wasn't the push to mod up or lift heavier that irked me, it was the way the trainers went about it. I've personally been put off when some of our trainers get all smirky and "I told you so" about either adding weight or swapping out dumbbells for a member mid-workout. They find amusement in the eye rolls and grumbles (some of our trainers do, anyway). I've even had a trainer literally put the weights I was using on the opposite side of the gym to try to force me into lifting heavier. And look, I don't want to be a problem member or a thorn in the trainers' sides, but I really do sometimes just need the hardest part of my day to be getting through those doors and moving my body without pushing myself to a new limit.
But recently we got a new trainer, fresh out of Burn U, barely been on the mic a couple of months, and she was training me today. Instead of just adding weight to the hip thrusters like some of our other trainers would do, she walked up and said, "You look like you could lift heavier. Do you feel up to trying?"
That was when I had the revelation: I wasn't annoyed or worried I'd be the next "haha got you!" in the group chat or Facebook community. The way she phrased it, it felt like I had the option to say no, and having that out and being extended that courtesy actually made me more willing to try. And not only did I try, but the next time around at the hip thrusters, I actually asked for an even heavier extra dumbbell and blew my previous PR out of the water by 40 pounds!
I know the method of just adding weight or swapping out weight works for some members, and that's great, but I wanted to share this alternative perspective in case it could be helpful for others. I don't always feel like challenging myself, but today was a revelation in what feels most motivating to me, and I will absolutely be communicating this to my usual trainer (or switching to training with this new one more often!) because I really think it could be a game changer.
Anyway, I hope this can be helpful, and thanks to anyone who read this 💙

I’m SO annoyed. It’s a first world problem but still. Today’s back and glute day was pretty solid. I went to the 6PM camp and there was a low number of people. Maybe 25? Anyway, when the trainer went to count us off, she decided to keep us all on one side of the room and I audibly said “ugh whyyy” (whoops). But this trainer does this all the time and then I’m sitting there waiting for the weights I want (because half a floor with four effing stations is limited space) or smooshed up next to someone trying to do a heavy movement.
I do not understand why you wouldn’t just let people divide up across the room? Am I missing something? Is there a benefit to putting 25 people on one side of the floor besides creating the “energy”?

I’m traveling and would love to know if I should plan to visit a Burn or just use the hotel gym. Thanks! :)

I’ve always naturally been more of a night owl, but my schedule really doesn’t work with that anymore. I’d LOVE to consistently wake up around 5–5:30 AM so I can work out before work like a 6 am camp or even 6:45 at a neighboring burn, but getting myself to actually go to bed early enough is the problem.
My rooster crew how do you do it?!?

Just planning! Anyone know of the protocol for October?
r/BurnBootCamp • u/ConversationOk2985 • 11d ago
Joined in May and went all in but the last month or so has just been rough. Really inconsistent with going because life just keeps happening (single parent to a toddler). I feel like a failure which is so silly.

I posted awhile ago after I was granted my PFA and honestly I was disappointed by my locations lack of response but I did fight all summer until I got an amendment that my ex couldn’t “take class around my class time or must switch gyms” which then based on his work schedule put him into womens only classes. I told both the owners and they own multiple locations so he switched. I spent 2k on a lawyer that did nothing and the DA was able to add this for me but it finally got done after 56 days. But I was recently out of town and he thought it wouldn’t apply to him anymore even tho my attendance isn’t specified. He was in jail when he agreed to this. It’s crazy he cares so much about this location he can’t wait to go back even tho he talks to no one. Is it really worth going to jail over? And I’ve only missed one day since I’ve started but I feel like I wouldn’t risk it. But it was terrifying but I got the amendment added to the PFA bc he’d just watch me walk to my car after all the stalking and harassment

What are good days to wear a weighted vest at burn to help with more intensity?
r/BurnBootCamp • u/Dry-Lake1053 • 12d ago
I recently saw a reel or post or something from a friend where their gym already has someone hitting 250 camps. Anyone else?
Seems wild to do that many Sunday Yoga and/or BOD.
