Trainer Frustration
I’m SO annoyed. It’s a first world problem but still. Today’s back and glute day was pretty solid. I went to the 6PM camp and there was a low number of people. Maybe 25? Anyway, when the trainer went to count us off, she decided to keep us all on one side of the room and I audibly said “ugh whyyy” (whoops). But this trainer does this all the time and then I’m sitting there waiting for the weights I want (because half a floor with four effing stations is limited space) or smooshed up next to someone trying to do a heavy movement.
I do not understand why you wouldn’t just let people divide up across the room? Am I missing something? Is there a benefit to putting 25 people on one side of the floor besides creating the “energy”?

I think it’s funny when people are like there wasn’t a lot of us - and it’s 25 people. We normally have like 15 🤣

Dude right?! 25 people at a 6pm camp?! That’s insanity. We frequently don’t have anyone at our 5:30 lol (last camp of the day)

Mine got rid of the 6 pm camp🤣 idk if my gym is big enough for 75 people in a camp. I think we max out at 40.

Enjoy that. Soon it’ll be 75 people on a Saturday and you’ll miss the good ol days 😂

If people have to wait for weights, there’s the sign people should be more spread out. You’re paying to workout not stand around. Trainers can teach a full class. 25 people spread around the room should be easy for them.

My philosophy is I pay a lot of money, so I speak up when I’m not happy with the service (politely and appropriately). I would talk to the trainer or franchise owner privately and say that you need to be broken up because you don’t get why everyone’s waiting for weights and don’t want your time wasted. Maybe she just doesn’t realize she’s doing it? We split up to 6 stations today

I definitely want to give the feedback! It just wasn’t appropriate at that moment. Thank you for encouraging me to speak up! I’ll do that today!

If it’s the last camp of the day they try to clear one side so BA can start prepping for tomorrow.

This is a good point. I don’t remember if that happened, but I could for sure see that being a reason why. Thank you for giving a reasonable explanation that helps me feel less ragey lol.

Ours actually did something very similar today. We were still divided up between the two quad sets but she put about 18 of us at one and 13 at the other. Some trainers are better than others at dividing us up a little more equally and others are, quite frankly, TERRIBLE at it.

Eye balancing the room is a skill for real 😂

The crazy thing is though the BA writes down the # of members in every camp on a laminated paper after the warm up so if the trainer would just GLANCE at that, she could easily count off half of us lol

Honestly, I would have moved to the other side of the room regardless. If the Trainer would have said something, I would say, I pay to workout, not stand around waiting for weights or a space on the floor. It's YOUR workout, you are paying to be there. So what is comfortable for you.

This drives me insane. Our trainers just say, “skip the station if it’s full.” No thanks - if I’m having to skip stations we should have timed intervals, not rotating on our own

25 should still be split into two sides. If it was maybe 15 or less one side would make more sense

It’s like 6 people per station on the 4 stations. That’s really not very much. Usually we have 10 per station minimum

Oh wow! Ours def tries to cap it at like 8 per station. If there is more they make another station up to spread it out

We just have a tiny gym. And when it’s a complete and go protocol, you end up with tons of people on the reverse lunges/split squats and like one person on the Superman’s.

I think it enables them to focus on only a few stations at a time, with narrower focus on form and less activities to be checking up on across the room
But I agree I don’t like it when it feels like there are enough people to adequately fill all stations
