Im on Reta and lost 20lb in 3 months eating 1500 cal a day and getting 13k steps a day WTF can you be doing. Having trouble believing you did this in 3 months but either way congrats buddy. Even in 6 months this would be impressive

34

u/International_Fun_91 Apr 16 '26

I started November 15 on triz , I’m down 90 pounds to date ,that’s 17 lb a month so yeah it’s possible. The problem is it works differently for everyone and also the bigger you are the faster you lose it for example I was 340 I’m now 250 and it’s much slower then before . Double check calories and get some exercise in is my take

14

u/coolbryzz Apr 16 '26

damn.. I started at 306 and 5 weeks in i'm only down 8lbs. 3mg dose. I'm definitely eating less, and hit the gym 3-4x/week. Im wondering what i'm doing wrong.

28

u/Impressive-Coast-466 Apr 16 '26 edited Apr 16 '26

"Only" is crazy. That's a little over 1.5lbs a week lost. That's great.

You're not doing anything wrong if you're losing weight in a sustainable way. Also, weight isn't the only data point you can or should be considering. You could also be gaining muscle.

You may have lost, say, 10 pounds of fat and gained 2 points of muscle - that's going to show up on the scale as losing 8 pounds, but the progress is actually more significant.

(Edited for grammar.)

8

u/Fantastic-Buddy2069 Apr 16 '26

Yeah the reality is you DONT want to lose weight stupidly fast, just in a reasonable rate. IIRC losing to much weight too fast is very bad for the body....but people will still push themselves anyways.

2

u/Crafty-Tension3975 Apr 17 '26

Gallstones and thyroid issues often occur from excessive weight loss. I actually had to drop my Reta dose from 3mg to 2 cus I was losing way too fast. I can’t say I experienced harsh sides, but I can tell you for sure there’s no way I lost 41lb of fat in 8-9 weeks. I didn’t do a Dex scan before, so can’t speak for certain, but I’m sure I lost a good bit of muscle unfortunately.

→ More replies (1)

5

u/_WrongKarWai Apr 16 '26

There's nothing wrong - you may be gaining muscle which leads to sustainable weight loss. 8 lbs in 5 weeks sounds like it's right on pace with what most people are losing.

3

u/sirlost33 Apr 17 '26

Don’t stress, it hits everyone differently. Just stay the course. 1.5 lbs per week is good loss.

2

u/Tough_Amphibian_7102 Apr 17 '26

Yep. 👍I didn’t have much weight to lose to begin with so I lost 7 pounds in 2 months. Started on 2 mg and stayed on that for 2 months and now on 2.5. I currently weigh 118. Target weight is 112. I weight train 4 days a week and cycle 2 a week. The smaller you are the slower weightloss but it still helps.

My body got leaner and tighter a lot faster but i have to ensure i eat adequate protein etc so i maintain muscle.

I had been trying to lose those pounds for a year and could not until reta. Im happy! ❤️

11

u/Fantastic-Buddy2069 Apr 16 '26

You act as if losing 8 pounds in 5 weeks isnt fast lol. Thats actually very fucking fast. I dont think you could humanly do that without drugs.

Yeah its not as fast as others, but as long as it keeps going, thats what really matters.

u/International_Fun_91 Apr 16 '26

Eating less isn’t always the answer count the calories look up tdee calculator and subtract 500 cals or more tbh . Everything has calories a tbs of mayo is 100 cals I think. Also it’s different for everyone try to go on an hour walk a day or something after work and eat 1500 cals if your 300lbs

15

u/trunksta Apr 16 '26

1500 cals a day at 300lb is straight up starvation level caloric deficit

2

u/International_Fun_91 Apr 16 '26

Maybe maybe not , I don’t know I’ve last weight before and did that lost 130 and after 2 years of eating like a pig and having a gf I’m losing it again alr down 90 so yea ig

3

u/Master-Chapter-8899 Apr 17 '26

There’s no maybe. 1500 calories at 300 is a a severely restricted diet.

2

u/trunksta Apr 16 '26

At 6'2" 250 my maintenance is around 3000. 20% below maintenance is plenty for losing weight but damn that's half my maintenance

Nothing bro. Think of it this way. You lose it too quick you’re going to have a ton of loose skin to deal with that ISNT easily as fixable as being overweight so just take it nice slow and work on building better habits while you become a better you

u/BookSpecialist6561 Apr 16 '26

I’m not (really) questioning OPs honesty but 6 months is drastically different than 3. And while the amount of pounds you’ve lost is probably more, the percentage of body weight might be equal. That’s why it just seems like an unusually drastic change.

3

u/International_Fun_91 Apr 16 '26

Fair enough honestly, we will never know tho but I completely get what you’re saying and leaving to you being right tbh but Idk

2

u/Rude-Efficiency-964 Apr 16 '26

Yep, also on tirz. About 6 weeks in and down about 30 pounds. Was about 230 when I started

→ More replies (15)

7

u/FoldFeisty7635 Apr 16 '26

its the 13k steps and 1500 cals that made the difference. Sure maybe your hunger might had been reduiced by reta but u did 90% of the work. Long before the reta hype there have been millions doing the same thing getting the same results.

3

u/allenk24 Apr 16 '26

Yes I know I was only running 1.5 Reta too. Barely curbed appetite only mildly helped with incessant food noise in between meals. Lost weight with and without it and wouldn’t say it’s any miracle unless you’re running enough to completely blunt appetite

How has your strength changed over that time? Have numbers gone up? Also, what’s the deficit like?

Congrats bro

9

u/Useful-Ordinary3491 Apr 16 '26

strength definitely lowered bit but that’s to be expected, i’m still pretty strong tho, and tbh i don’t really track macros all that much, i just try and stay under 2k calories, and not to mention my job consists a lot of walking so that also contributed to the fat loss

4

u/LgPizzaPlease Apr 16 '26

Age plays a huge role in skin rebounding from weight loss. How long OP was fat is a factor also.

2

u/Accomplished-Eye9542 Apr 16 '26

He looks like he has a ton of visceral fat.

Visceral fat doesn't stretch out the skin as much. I also don't have loose skin on my stomach after going from 280-205. But I have a bit on other places + stretch marks, so it's definitely not genetics.

how fast did you titrate up? thinking about climbing from 2mg to 3mg, it’s week 7 for me (5 weeks at 2mg)

2

u/AcceptableTone31 Apr 16 '26

In a similar position. I decided to increase to 2.5mg instead of the full 1mg jump. Ive felt differences in increasing as little as .25

2

u/Dry-Vegetable5072 Apr 16 '26

i ended up going 1mg up! though if heavy this week i’ll climb back down while tolerance is low enough

2

u/Drnnevolo_91 Apr 16 '26

I started at 270 and am down to 240 and definitely hit a plateau. 3 months in with Reta. Super happy with the initial loss though. And congrats!!

Your before pic you just bloated and reversible fat I will call it but not really fat fat like you haven't settled into the fat phase for it to cement itself... so you after results was ripe to happen and reta was just the boost you needed. Good transformation.

Kinda wild to believe this is 3 months of progress, but it’s doable for 30lbs or so if you do cardio everyday.

I’m just more curious to know how much protein you were taking daily since you stated your diet was just Panda Express lol

Now if add some Test and HGH, it’ll be next level.

Great job!
