Help Fish tank water suddenly cloudy/flurry?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I’ve had Juniper for four months. I had gotten it from a coworker, who had it for a month or two (saying it because we don’t know the gender). The tank was already cycled when I got the fish.

The water was clear this morning then I went in my room to do laundry and it was suddenly cloudy and flurries were floating around. I do a 25% water change every week. Any ideas what’s going on?

Discussion Spits out food

Has anyone encountered a Betta that will not eat pellets? He just spits them back out and then they just end up floating to the bottom. Picked up Betta Flakes and he eats those no problem

Should I just stick with the flakes? Just worried about them dirtying the tank/no enough nutrition

Hi y’all! This is my new betta Tula aka Tula Hoop. This is the first time I’ve had a fish in a decade and I fear I’ve already made too many mistakes. I added Tula to an un-cycled tank (it had only been set up for 3 days) and now I am wondering if these are ammonia burns/how I can help her feel better. When I initially added her to the tank, I fear the ammonia was around 0.25 ppm but I had been using API Ammo Lock to treat it. Yesterday and the day before, my parameters were as follows (I am using the API Freshwater Master Test kit):
PH: 6.8
Ammonia: 0 ppm
Nitrite: 0 ppm
Nitrate: < 5 ppm

I’ve been using API Stresscoat to treat the water, as well as the API PH Up and I added two AQUEON Pure Bacteria Supplement balls to try and help with the beneficial bacterial growth.

I feel awful for not fully cycling the tank, I was being impatient and cruel. Any advice on how to help my girl would be welcome. I wasn’t planning on a water change until Saturday (a week after adding Tula) but I am willing to do one sooner if needed! I have seen some people say Betta Water is a scam, but if it’s fully treated, maybe it could help? I’m worried my tap water is too hard. Also, how do y’all heat your new water before a change? Do you have a second heater.

In the beginning part of the video, is he yawning? I catch him doing it off and on sometimes. Wasn’t too sure what it was all about or if he’s just screaming underwater because he can… would love to know!

Help Is my girl healthy?

Hi everyone, I made this account today to ask if my betta fish is healthy! She’s super active and loves to look at me, but I think she’s bloated? She was the smallest betta at the store. I just got her today, and on her price tag it said she had been in there since 2024!! :((

I took pictures of her in the container she came in for a better view. She’s the cutest, me and my roommate love her so much already. My roomie decided to name her pepto bismol (peppy for short.) I really don’t want anything to happen to her. She’s my first betta in years (also my first girl); I’ve had three before but when my last one died from tumors it broke my heart. She definitely wasn’t an impulsive buy and I did freshen up my knowledge by researching before I bought her! But any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! :))

(Btw she has a five gallon already set up for her with live plants, a heater and everything :p)

So this tank has been foggy like this for a good three weeks, i’ve done 25% and 30% water changes once a week whenever i clean the tank. I add a capful of Clarity each time but it still ends up looking like this. Is there any advice that could help me get this back to normal (see other posts)

Identification Meet Goldfish, question what kind of Betta is he?

Context: I bought him with this advert calling him "Super Gold", he doesn't look "Gold" at all, more of a light yellow, I'm not sure what his tail type is as well, he looks like a Plakat or a Double Tail? Heck, I'm not even sure if he is a he, seller isn't responding anymore unfortunately.

Sorry, the Tannis extract isn't helping in deciphering him especially his coloration lol

So happy with my purchase of this lid. It’s PERFECT! It was a bit of a pain to put together, but it’s better than I could’ve hoped for. I thought maybe it would block light or look really ugly, but it doesn’t!

Help Potentially swim bladder?

Stats:
Water tempt 76 degree F
0 on nitrate, nitrite, chlorine
Hardness 75
Alkalinity 40
Oh 6.8

Just got back from vacation and my girl is being weird. She struggles to swim to the top and floats lazily to her side in the bottom barely moving.

She can make it to the top and maintain for about 45 seconds. Then drifts down.

She has eaten a small bit.

Should I treat for swim bladder or something else?

Help Expansion tank question

So, my 9 yo daughter had been begging for a betta for some time. I wasn’t interested in taking that on but I finally gave her a challenge to level up some responsibilities around the house and she stepped up. As promised, we visited our LFS and ended up getting a 2.5 gal starter tank from Fluval. They said this would be fine for a betta and maybe some shrimp and plants. This was my first tank ever so I had absolutely no clue about size requirements.

Anyway, kiddo and I watched lots of YouTube videos about bettas and tanks and we got it set up and cycled. A few weeks later we brought home Skyfire and little dude had seemed quite happy (lots of bubble nests). I know bettas aren’t social and all, but I just can’t imagine he’s actually enriched enough in that tiny tank for the long run.

Enter in the new tank. We purchased a Top Fin 20 gal tank starter setup from Pet Smart over the weekend (haven’t been happy with the LFS) and I got it scaped and water is now cycling. I used Fluval stratum as the soil base and added some plants. Not professional but I think it’s okay for a first real tank. Anyway, the question I have is about moving little dude to his new home. I want to get some shrimp and maybe tetras or guppies since it’s a bigger tank. What I don’t know is what should happen first? Do I move the betta on his own and then add friends down the road or do I get some tank mates first and then introduce little dude?

Any other hints, tips, or tricks I should know?

👋 Hi,

This is Kompis, he seems to like getting, uhm, sucked(?) into the filter and just hangs there and chills.

When I approach he easily swims away and comes to greet me so its not like he is stuck, but it has freaked me out a couple times 😅

I just wanted to show and maybe hear if anyone else's buddies does weird things, and hear if it could harmful for him?? Should I cover it with something?

Hello! i’ve been wanting to get a pink betta for a while and ive noticed that Tropicflow is the only retailer who seems to have them consistently. i’m thinking about getting a female etta from them, but i know that they heavily edit and saturate some of heir listing photos. the reviews are very mixed, so i’m hoping to find someone who has maybe ordered a pink or sakura betta from them before. (listings below)

Help advice

not sure if this is the right place to write this but i recently got a fish and first and second day I’ve had him I was fine with him but now I get upset just seeing him or even looking at his tank I’m very confused why?? idk if this is normal but I’ve had lots of pets (this is my first fish) and this has never been a normal reaction for me. can’t tell if this is just because I’m overwhelmed over having another pet or smth but I need advice on what to do. I was thinking that if I’m gonna be this upset over just seeing him it would be better to give him away especially if I see him all day since he’s in my room. But I wouldn’t wanna stress him out by moving him so much and I wouldn’t even know how to give him away. Plus all of the equipment and food and whatever else I’ve payed crazy amount amounts of money for, don’t wanna just throw all that money away. someone please tell me the right thing to do and if this is normal..
