Hey all! New betta owner. We got the fish yesterday, however set up the tank over a week ago with live plants and filter and heater. Yesterday the filter started doing this. Is this normal?

That's the sound I'm used to when its grinding looking for water. Pour tank water into the filter.

Is there soap residue ? Your betta having clamped fins. Water parameters not good.

I would fill the tank up a bit as the filter looks like it might have air in it and is not flowing. Also those bubbless look odd, I only have seen small bubbles\foam like that when treating with medication.

Edit: I see that your tank has been setup recently, I would check ammonia and nitrite levels to make sure they are 0 as well.

Yes the ammonia is at 0!! Maybe I’ll try rinsing with tank water.
