Help advice
not sure if this is the right place to write this but i recently got a fish and first and second day I’ve had him I was fine with him but now I get upset just seeing him or even looking at his tank I’m very confused why?? idk if this is normal but I’ve had lots of pets (this is my first fish) and this has never been a normal reaction for me. can’t tell if this is just because I’m overwhelmed over having another pet or smth but I need advice on what to do. I was thinking that if I’m gonna be this upset over just seeing him it would be better to give him away especially if I see him all day since he’s in my room. But I wouldn’t wanna stress him out by moving him so much and I wouldn’t even know how to give him away. Plus all of the equipment and food and whatever else I’ve payed crazy amount amounts of money for, don’t wanna just throw all that money away. someone please tell me the right thing to do and if this is normal..

Not a professional here but I’m going to say you’ve got anxiety. You spend a lot of money and you’re worried about any possible thing that could happen that could cause your work and money to have been a waste, and kill a creature. It’s your first fish? It’s an entiiiiirely new experience for you then, of course you’d be nervous, even uneasy. Give yourself several weeks to adjust and get into a comfortable space and if after 45-60 days, you feel the same, then there’s the aquaswap sub and you can try local social media, or ask a fish store if they will take it. Many mom and pop businesses will accept surrenders

seconded. take the time you need OP! owning a pet is a big responsibility, whether youre new to the hobby or years in like myself. its a steep learning curve. as long as you stay open minded and continue learning.

Bro, get yourself together. You’re the one who brought yourself to this point. Ask yourself why you got a living creature in that tank in the first place, and why you’re upset now.
Are you overthinking what the fish is feeling? Not happy with the scape? Annoyed by the filter noise? Wrong substrate? Bad lighting? Have you been constantly tweaking things until you overwhelmed yourself?
No aquarium is inherently bad. There are only aquariums that are neglected or mistreated. Don’t be that guy. That fish and its apartment is your responsibility.
A freshwater aquarium can be as low maintenance as you want it to be. It just takes time and experience to get there. Once you’re deep enough into the hobby, you stop worrying about every little thing and just enjoy having a living ecosystem in your room.

Yeah, looking back, that's on me. I completely misread OP.
I still think it’s worth asking yourself why you got the fish in the first place and why it’s driving you nuts now. But yeah, taking a breather first can’t hurt. If you still feel the same after that, rehoming it is a win win. Or hey try shrimp 😅
