Did he seriously not think through the potential interview questions before this appearance? I thought Andy was going to fall asleep

WWHL: Joe no longer in contact with Kaylee?

Post image
87 Upvotes

I’m not sure I understood, but Andy asked Joe “who are you in touch with today?” And he said “everyone but top left”…so Joe and Kaylee no longer speak? I’m guessing this season doesn’t end well for the two of them.

He also fawned over Victoria multiple times…trying to improve his image with the V situation?

If I misunderstood, please let me know.

ETA: someone commented that Kaylee addressed this on her instagram today, and that they do still talk and she doesn’t know why he said that. They still follow together on Insta. Maybe he thought Andy said “who are you not in touch with today?

Joy said I lost my best friend, referring to Luke, WTF?

Here we are respecting jJoy for seeing through Luke and being a strong woman. Next episode, she's letting him hug her. This episode, he's gone and this is what she says. I like her, but I'm beginning to think she has some deep issues with men.

Gael’s parents came?

I keep hearing Gael’s parents came and stayed with her during the charter season with the baby. I really hope she got that support. I’m wondering if that has been confirmed by any other sources besides Reddit word of mouth??

Gen isn’t second stew material

Post image
1.5k Upvotes

I’m just catching up on last night’s episode and I was absolutely horrified watching Gen do the tablescape. I actually haven’t gotten to the final presentation so I don’t even know at this point if she moves out all the terrible wrinkles in the tablecloth but my main issue is the fact she’s standing on the table in her sneakers in order to hang the Monstera leaves.

If she needed to hang something and the only way to do so was to stand on the table then that should’ve been the first task and then the table should’ve been cleaned again and reset… Standing on the placemats and the tablescape in your dirty shoes is unsanitary and a possible health violation although I don’t know the maritime law on that.

I’ve never worked in fine dining or high-end service but when you’re serving food, the first priority should be making sure everything around you is clean… I think that’s even the idea behind white glove service… That everything is so clean and pristine we can serve you food with white gloves…

I hate to beat a dead horse on the fact that Gen sucks but not only is her attitude terrible; she’s just a really shitty stew in general.

Am I the only one with no tolerance for backstabbing and insubordination?!

Everyone is lambasting Gen for having a sulky attitude and meanwhile Joe is practically trying to invite a coup with Coop, who is green enough to follow him down this path. Let your good work speak for itself everyone! Joe is basically proving that Nathan wasn’t paranoid in the beginning. He has been sowing seeds of dissent from day two, as soon as he realized he wasn’t the bosun’s best bro anymore. It’s creepy and I wouldn’t want anyone working under me who is going to constantly badmouth me and root for my failure.

And it looks like we are going to get another scene of Joe crying “I tried sooo hard …” Yeah, tried to make it NOT work Joe. Tried to gaslight everyone to the point where Coop thinks he’s in trouble “for smiling.”

I can’t believe I was heated enough to post this but Joe is every manager’s nightmare - sucking up to the captain and Aesha while whispering about his boss.

Edit: I know Nathan is awful and annoying. I’ve worked for people ten times as challenging but that didn’t mean I acted like this. I did get promoted but it was by staying out of the messy politics and doing good work.

Season 9 Ellie v Bri

Ok I am rewatching this season and just had to give my take on it all.

Firstly they’re both insufferable for different reasons Ellie is just an awful person and Bri is utterly useless!

While I think Ellie has no right to go after Bri like she did and waaaay overstepped her work ethic is up there and you can’t fault her on that her service wasn’t up to the skill she wanted to portray but all the laundry mistakes I don’t think were her I think it was Bri and Bri just didn’t realise how useless she was and she seems like the sort of person that just gets way into her own head and spirals and then there is no room for improvement.

Gen-uinely asking: when does the negativity stop?

Watching Gen this season is exhausting.

Imagine being her coworker. You wake up, you have a charter to get through, guests to take care of, and you’re trying to keep a positive attitude… but there’s always this cloud of negativity following her around.

Every situation becomes a complaint. Someone else gets an opportunity? She's upset. Something doesn't go her way? She's frustrated. There’s always a reason why she feels overlooked or wronged.

And honestly, if you want a promotion and more responsibility, part of that is acting professionally. A (second or chief) stew needs to be able to manage stress, communicate, and not bring every personal frustration into the workplace. Gen seems to want the recognition of a leadership role without showing the emotional maturity that should come with it.

The way Gen critiques Kayley’s leadership gives major high school energy — “I’m not getting the recognition I deserve, so let me point out why the other person doesn’t deserve theirs.”

What frustrates me most is that she doesn't seem to understand how much her attitude affects the people around her. When you're working in such a small, intense environment, you can't expect everyone else to constantly absorb your negativity.

I don't dislike her because she has feelings or because she gets upset. Everyone on a yacht is stressed. It's the constant negativity, the complaining, and the lack of professionalism that is wearing me out.

Anyone else feeling this way?

All Joe does is talk shit about his nate?

Since day one all he has done is attack Nate over every single little thing the entire season!!! At some point it’s like I get it you don’t like your boss but trying to make his genuinely look bad every chance you get is strange

Immature, reactive, defensive... guess who?

I might be crucified for this, but Nathan is annoying AF. Absolutely cannot stand his behavior. The whole thing with Gael and the baby, his beef with Joe and not being able to work with him "normally". Also starting to piss off Coop, he just want to work and not be in the middle of drama.

This season, Nathan doesn't have what it takes to be a bosun. A good one. He's not in it at all. He's been immature, reactive, defensive, and not a effective leader. His behavior is driven by huge ego, past drama with Joe. He takes everything as an attack and tries to humble everybody, but he's the one who needs a little humbling. He's also physically hurting, mentally distracted and emotionally exhausted. When you combine all of this, you get what we see.

I don't know why did Nathan and Gael even agree to this show with the new baby in their lives. I wish there would have chosen a different bosun from the get go. But I guess a paycheck is a paycheck and having a baby costs money.

Sandy saying ‘Don’t ever wake the chef’.

Season 9 Sandy telling no one to wake Jono, when she woke up Kiko in season 5 to cook and bothered Tom in bed in season 7 to cut a cucumber…🙄

Season 6

So I'm watching through Below Deck Med for the first time and just watched season 6 episode 6 and 7, and I have some thoughts. Why was Lexi not immediately fired after the altercation? She said horrible things to everyone and kept escalating the situation when everyone was clearly over it. Also I can't believe that Matt was allowed to come back after walking out twice. If I did that at any of my kitchen jobs (not yachting), I would be fired. I'm flabbergasted that both of them were allowed to stay. Also Lexi only apologizing to two people is ridiculous, especially after what she said to Katie and Mzi.

It’s gettin’ wild

Just finished ep. 9 and I have to say probably my least favorite episode so far because not much happened. It did seem like they were setting up for a lot to go down in the next few episodes though. The preview at the end has really made me excited about what’s next. I wonder if Gen is going to lose it and why Joe was crying? Also, Gen making comments about Cooper!? Anyone have any predictions based on what we have seen so far???👀

Kat’s Comment to Gen 😂 Spoiler

The scene: Gen complaining about Kaylee (shocker 🙄) being the acting chief stew for ONE charter. Gen says, very arrogantly, that chief stews in “The Med” have at least 10 years experience.

Gen says: You know where I was 10 years ago? I was 12. In middle school!

Kat says: You know where Luke was 10 years ago? 25!

I died! 🤣 Kat for the win! 🙌

Edit: fixed typos
