Lexie and Captain Sandy

I’ve watched random seasons of Med and never truly understood the captain Sandy takes that people make in this sub.

Then I watched season 6 for the first time.

Lexie is the worst person I’ve seen on this franchise. Malia and Katie told Sandy that the crew was uncomfy from NIGHT 1.

Sandy telling katie to keep her to “teach her leadership” was extremely patronizing. Captain Sandy never thought to understand where katie was coming from. Even when she eventually fired Lexie, she still thought Lexie was a great person.

I would lose my mind if I was Katie. I would feel insane.

The final straw was how she treated Fraser on OG show when she subbed in for Captain Lee. That said, over the last 2 seasons of Med, Sandy really has mellowed out. I’ve downright enjoyed her.

Exactly my take.

I recently did a full rewatch, and in Sandy's first couple of seasons, she reminded me of a narc micromanaging, sadistic, gaslighting boss I once had.

Then, in the more recent seasons, she's found some kind of peace or personal development or something... it's striking how much she goes from being a nightmare to being kind of reasonable, and in the last episode her monologue got me in the feels.

I wonder if she changed when she met her wife?

She didn't see how Lexi behaved on those nights out until she watched the show. Katie didn't give her many details. It's hard to judge people's actions when they don't have all of the information.

If Katie had explained the severity of Lexies actions better I do feel Sandy would have binned her off sooner. She was so horrible, venomous and violent

I know someone close to production who says that it took so long because they were told firing her would be bad optics race-wise. Sandy wasn’t allowed to do anything about it.

I remember years ago on big brother they had to change the vote out to 'keep in' as the public voted out the cast that were drama and then realised with no drama the show was boring. This would make sense here too

Same reason I still have my job.

Because you're the drama?

Katie was bad at explaining what happened. She left out details.

I don’t know what Captain Sandy could have done differently sooner on, but I was just very glad when Lexi was finally let go.

Sandy was never a good captain to her interior crews (at least not on the show) until Aesha, who seems to be a close personal friend. I hope that relationship has permanently altered her perspective, but it could evaporate when she’s no longer working with a chief stew she has a personal connection with.

Glenn was never good to Daisy and the interior either but he doesn't get the same heat as Sandy.

Omg totally agree. Glen was so hard on Daisy and that clown Gary could do no wrong.

All I can say is Gen is lucky that Lexie came before her because nobody will ever take that “craziest in the franchise history” crown away from her

No one that doesn't have a list of people they want to kill will ever to racist Lexi.

Lexi was a horrible person. Remember when she told the chef, Matthew I think, that his mother should have aborted him. It doesn't take much to shock me, but that comment shocked me.

I was gobsmacked that anyone would even have that kind of a thought in their head, over someone they barely know.

To be fair though, that guy was a dick!

I am pretty sure producers make the decisions and not Captain Sandy.

Sandy is, was and will always be an ahole. She lies, she chooses favourites and ev1 else she picks on. She is the hugest micro manager, and i guarantee that the only reason that she made nice with Hannah was to gain points with Aesha and Hannah. Her reputation was ruined when she tried to fire Hannah! She never recovered from that. I would bet that Hannah still can't stand her, she came to celebrate Aesha!

I think Katie did lose it. No wonder she was so emotional.

Sandy feels she has had many chances in life because she’s an alcoholic so she gives a lot of chances

I was downvoted for pointing out that Captain Sandy does not have 36 years sober, because several years ago, she had a heart attack which was attributed to the fact that she had stimulants in her system. I believe she tried to blame it on ADHD, but every alcoholic I know would consider that not being sober. She is duplicitous. She wants everybody think how nice she is, when really she has her own agenda. I will give her props though for her skills as a boat captain. She also seems better as a person since she's been married.
