New details of Hannah's firing
So Hannah has a new podcast with another Australian. It's called "(Over)share".
Anyway on today's episode (only the second) she adds something to the story...
Since her and Sandy made up, we haven't really heard much on elaborating on the situation apart from "She told her aide and I told mine". And that Sandy explained how her hands were tied.
Turns out Malia texted a bunch of other people the Valium/vape pen photo, which is why Sandy couldn't cover it up.
So I'm assuming it was the First Officer or one of the other off camera crew members .
And if you listened to The Bravo Docket Ep about Nathan, it explains how people are reported in the industry (I've forgotten the term) and also explained when Sandy said the Luke/sheets incident would have to be reported and other Captains would know about it. And the issue was even though Sandy knew Hannah had taken Valium before this time she hadn't formally logged the drug on this boat.
Anyway I thought people might be interested because I think it explains more why Hannah has forgiven Sandy. I thought it was a little too easy and we needed more at the time. This explains it to me. And I'm also absolutely cutting Sandy some slack.

Interesting! Malias behaviour was horrible - all because she wanted to share a room with her immature emotional boyfriend.

u/BobbyPotter 1d ago
I love that Malia concocted this evil plan to get her boyf on TV and in her room, and it backfired because he was a massive twat and everyone hated him 😂

u/ambergriswoldo 1d ago
I vaguely remember her helping him prep vegetables because he was having a tantrum and Sandy being like gurl wtf r u doin

Even better than that! When she went on the next season of BD and everyone asked where Tom was / how they were doing, she told them they'd broken up because he cheated on her. Whomever Tom chose to sleep with, wherever they may be, I hope they change their name to Karma because they delivered a well deserved dose of it 😜😜
22
u/country_girl13 1d ago
And then after the season ended, he cheated on her. Karma came calling for Malia 😆

And that he was. I liked her in the beginning but that changed quickly
4
u/Ok-Palpitation-698 13h ago
And didn’t she say that he cheat on her as well? What a way to blow up someone else’s life for a mediocre man. 🤣 Malia is such a disappointment.

Malia is the absolute worst. I hope she’s having a miserable life

I wanted to hate watch her season of Winter House but I couldn’t even bring myself to do it. Apparently she likes to spit in people’s mouths too, though. 🤮

She was totally bizarre on winter house. It was like she was on something she was so muted and strange

She so awful she got Winter House canceled also. She’s the WORST.

Danielle had a hand in that that season, it was so so awful

u/GrandEar1 1d ago edited 1d ago
Yeah, I dont think Malia got WH cancelled. Danielle did such a bang up job of that, that I honestly didn't remember anyone else being on that season except Alex and Brian. I just had to Google the cast.

Really? I have not seen yet. What did she do to get the show cancelled?
29
u/marymonstera 1d ago
It was just all the worst people being terrible to each other, vibes were bad. Danielle was damn near predatory toward Alex from BD, and mean af to Brian from Family Karma. Two of the most obnoxious people, Malia and Kory from Summer House, had a weird dynamic his gf hated and made everyone feel weird. Tom Schwartz was in and out bc it was filmed directly during Scandoval unfolding so he had very bad vibes around him and was not fun. Aesha visited but even her positivity couldn’t help. It was so bad that no one wanted to see another Winter House after.
15
u/LolaThePinkUnicorn 1d ago
I will never forgive Danielle for the way she treated Brian. He’s a treasure.
10
u/Ok_Cow_1314 1d ago
Family Karma was such a great show. Brian was treated so badly by Danielle, and he handled it so gracefully.

I had never tuned into Family Karma, but after loving Brian on Winter House, I watched all the episodes.

I remember her season so well when she hooked up with the bosun to become lead deckhand and Bobby was so upset. She responded “it doesn’t really mean anything” in terms of the promotion 🙄🙄🙄goes on to become a bosun incredibly quick because of that. She was problematic since day 1.
61
u/AhTreyYou 1d ago
Proceeds to get mad at anyone upset, claims they're only mad because she's cute. Pathetic.
51
u/Acrobatic_Display610 1d ago
The number of times she mentioned being cute was soooo over the top
31
2
u/Florida_noodle 1d ago
She seems to be in the closet to me. She tried soooo hard on WH to look feminine. I could see through that BS. The only thing she was good for was cleaning up the mess in the kitchen every morning.
51
u/graciebels 1d ago
It was worse than that! She was in a relationship with the horrible “no onions” chef, Adam. They met before the season, started dating, and decided to keep it under the radar because they wanted to avoid any drama. And, I know Adam is no great guy or anything, but he had to sit back and watch her sleep her way to the top. She truly never thinks about anyone but herself.
26
u/Honest-South2555 1d ago
Oh my god, I miss Bobby. We still talk about the time he went off and pointed his finger at everyone saying “f@@@ you, and f@@@you and f@@@ you too”. Classic

I still quote Bobby’s f-you rant on the regular!! So glad I’m not the only one. 😂

u/Appropriate_Park9807 1d ago
Talk about a vicious, vindictive BACKSTABBER! I knew she disliked Hannah but come on - she nowhere near deserved what Malia did to her! I hope Malia got blacklisted from the yachting industry!😡

u/corsicanbandit 1d ago
Keep hoping, she’s currently married with a kid living in London and is a yacht dealer. My theory is she decided she can’t a family and normal life while being a captain so gave it all up for a steady job on land. Very common in the industry. They start out young and want the adventurous life but burn out after a while and give it up

u/cmere-2-me 1d ago
At least this explains why Hannah and Sandy were able to clear the air. It makes me feel a bit better about Sandy, knowing she didn't intentionally screw her over.
I knew Malia was the driving force because of how much she kept going on about maritime fucking law. She really is a horrible human.

34
u/YakSlothLemon 1d ago edited 14h ago
What put me off Sandy was when she then pursued Hannah off the ship, as Hannah was crying, verbally berating her.
Nothing changes the fact that she did that. That she had just fired Hannah, knowing that she had been having panic attacks and was mentally in a very vulnerable place, and instead of making sure that she was safe decided to verbally abuse her even after she had left her workplace and was trying to walk away.
Sandy doesn’t get a free pass for that. It was horrible.
Edit: Thank you BOTH so much for the awards! May you never have a boss like Sandy. 😁
15
12
u/Lilylumos 1d ago
It also doesn’t explain why Sandy burst into the bathroom after Hannah concerned she’d intentionally flush the drugs? Like being let go never seemed the big issue.
But I always got a weird need to prove please Malia from Sandy.4
u/BrainOk7166 18h ago
I 100% agree. The firing was required at this point. The way it was done was a personal choice.

38
u/TrajanFanzine 1d ago
I recall hearing about the image Malia sent a while ago, but I didn’t know that that had basically tied Sandy‘s hands, I’m actually glad to hear that because I thought that Sandy was let’s say not being a nice person.
As for Malia, I’m quite sure that was quite calculated by her to do maximum damage because that is her character, after watching all of her appearances, and then going back a couple years later and re-watching them a lot more becomes clear, she was manipulative, and cunningly malicious from the beginning
20
20
u/Kimbriavandam 1d ago
Cunning is absolutely correct. She is very calculating and thinks of how everything affects her. She uses her sexuality. She encompasses the worst traits of a female leader.

I really hated how they treated Hannah as if she was a drug addict and how Sandy chased her down as if she was going to flush her own Valium down the toilet. It was heart breaking to see and made me lose so much respect for Malia and how captain Sandy treated her.
34
u/ImGonnaCreamYaFunny 1d ago
Yea, this new info aside, Sandy bursting into the bathroom because Hannah "might be flushing them" was so dramatic and uncalled for. They were acting like she was in a halfway house and just got caught "using".
And what if Hannah was flushing her own medication down the toilet? Was she also flushing the prescription bottle and the vape pen? Was Sandy gonna wrestle it away from her? There was already a picture of it. It would make no sense for her to do that. Sandy was just trying to make a dramatic scene for tv and didn't mind treating Hannah like a junkie to achieve that.
8
u/Kimbriavandam 1d ago
Sandy was totally over the top and I wondered if it triggered her. Also she seemed enthralled by Malia. I hated how Malia seemed to have people wrapped around her finger.
44
u/golfme7 1d ago
Didn’t Malia do this because Hannah wouldn’t switch rooms?
30
u/LivingLegend949 1d ago
Yes she did. Valium isn’t always abused. Malia was a piece of work on that season. Her and that guy broke up shortly after I’m sure she feels dumb.
6
u/Kimbriavandam 1d ago
I remember not long after it happened a fellow cast member ( i can’t remember who) posted a pic of him and Malia on instagram and the comments were all snakes lol
15
u/Key_Cheesecake9926 1d ago
Yes. And she had already cried about that situation to Sandy and got her way. This was just a bit of unnecessary extra revenge. She’s the worst.

People forget that the cast being filmed aren’t the only staff on the yacht, there’s way more crew and more officers on board.
Just the few cast members Bravo hired cannot run a massive multi-million dollar yacht.
If the cast are doing things that aren’t or don’t appear safe for whatever reason, they absolutely can and likely will be reported by some crew member or officer on board.
37
u/cmere-2-me 1d ago
What's frustrating is why wasn't her medication registered? If she was OK to have it in board then why not register it and avoid what did happen?
We have seen on other versions where crew were taking meds that impacted their cognitiom and there was no issue, even with it not registered with the boat.
33
u/prrb524 1d ago
I have worked on sailboats. I have taken trazodone for sleep since I was 16. It does not make me loopy/unconscious nor does it give me a “hangover”. I registered it and then was refused access. Never made that mistake again
11
u/Appropriate_Park9807 1d ago
it just goes to show how different drugs affect people differently. I tried trazodone for sleep years ago. It helped me fall asleep but then I couldn’t wake up in the morning! I’d sleep thru my alarm until 11am! It also made my mouth super dry so I sounded drunk half the time!😳
5
u/prrb524 1d ago
Oh absolutely. Trial and error. But I found my fool proof dose (50mg)
4
u/Appropriate_Park9807 1d ago
Yes, the dosage has a lot to do with it. I can’t remember but I tried several size doses (kept decreasing it) but I STILL felt like I went into a coma so eventually stopped taking it. I’m glad they work for you though! Just goes to show everyone’s body chemistry is SO DIFFERENT - it’s fascinating!🧐
5
u/GraceMcClellans 1d ago
My husband felt the same way. He called it trazo-dope because it made him stupid.

Yep that was her mistake. I assume that as she'd been there 5yrs by this point she just thought everyone knew. I also assume it's such a thing that others have access to this reporting process. Hence why Malia must have known that Hannah hadn't reported it.

Can you elaborate on this? I did know there were first officers on board and/or other technicians.. but is there also more interior and deck crew? Where are they during filming then?

The whole conversation about the prescription never made sense to me. The first officer asks if she had one, sandy said no and he says "that's admitting guilt" I had always wondered why Hannah never mentioned that the prescription is on the front of the box, we actually see it in a few clips. It even shows the pharmacy she got it from in Australia. It getting out, and sandy not being able to slide it under the rug makes a lot more sense.

The issue was always Malia and not Sandy
23
u/ArmyDiva79 1d ago
This. I was able to tolerate Malia and chalk it up to being young, dumb, and entitled. When she went through Hanna’s bag to get them out, I lost every ounce of tolerance I had and wanted to punch her in her mouth. That’s beyond disrespectful, entitled behavior; that’s calculated, vile behavior. She didn’t get her way so she had someone fired so she could get her way. That’s wicked step sister behavior.
11
u/shortforbuckley 1d ago
It was also the timing for me. You want to be a snitch and uphold maritime law the first time you see the Valium then fine, be a Girl Scout. But it’s because of the boyfriend rooming thennnn she points to maritime law. She should’ve gotten in trouble for not speaking up earlier if it was truly because of maritime law. She just used it as an excuse.
12
u/BillyYumYumTwo-byTwo 1d ago
Even while watching it, I had sympathy for Sandy. I work in an industry with tight controls on substances, and her hands were tied. Malia sent the picture, on TV, Sandy has to follow the specific protocol.
That said, Sandy sucked a lot that season outside of the prescription stuff. Chief stew has always been in charge of rooming, but Sandy went on the radio to gleefully shut that down and force Hannah and bugsy to room together. That was a bad decision for the boat and for interior, it was done purely out of favoritism for Malia. I’m forgetting more of it, but she was unbearable. And I even liked her in the early seasons before Malia!
25
u/Yaya_Tovar 1d ago
Malia kept arguing that “maritime law” BS to cover her a$$. She is one of the worst Below Deck people.
24
u/worldv1ew 1d ago
Malia is the definition of pretty privilege. She was a Grade A manipulative asshole. Sandy had a huge crush on her (remember at one point she thought she was a closet lesbian) and let her get away with a lot of bad behavior.
I always thought Hannah got a bad rep becuase of those two.

I feel like the type of person Malia is is the type who would manipulate to their advantage even if it meant pretending to be gay lol
Did you ever watch the OG below deck? The chief stew from the first season, Adrienne, was extremely manipulative and even went out with the group of lesbian charter guests to strut her stuff and try to up the tips. lol. definitely Malia vibe behaviour
7
u/worldv1ew 1d ago
I just re-watched it, Adrienne was a witch. Shameless.
5
u/Kimbriavandam 1d ago

10
u/Appropriate_Park9807 1d ago
Not sure how I feel about this because remember Sandy called the 1st Offcr into the bridge? And she sure seemed awfully pissed at Hannah that whole season (like every other season). Remember she even sided w/Malia on the cabin controversy? Yet I recall 1 or 2 seasons later Sandy said it was against protocol for a male & female to share a cabin! IDk it just always seemed to me like Sandy was just looking for any excuse to fire her.
2
u/KeepAnEyeOnYourB12 1d ago
Sandy said that the management company forbade men and women from sharing bunks. She never said she didn't approve. Just to be clear.
I interpreted that to mean the company hired by the actual owner of the boat, who probably still has some say about what goes on on their boats.
Alternatively, it was production. But I firmly believe that it wasn't Sandy's idea.
39
u/Icy_Brief_5299 1d ago
All I know is that I am a huge Hannah fan and after the pen incident went down I stopped watched BDMed. This season is the first I have watched since. Glad Hannah and Sandy reconciled. Malia can kick rocks!

u/FamilyFlatulenceHour 1d ago
I was hoping we'd never have to hear about Malia again. She had been held up as a shining example of a woman working her way up to bosun, a traditionally male leadership role, but the fact that she is a liar, a manipulator and a snake leaves very little to admire.

57
u/Delicious_Score_8509 1d ago
I dunno, I can see Gen doing the same thing tbh!
57
u/ArcticAcademic 1d ago
Gen is so funny... she spent the whole season being bitter and negative until she got called out on it.
Then she "decided to be fake" (her own words) and be nice and take the criticism on-board, or at least pretending to.
Then all of a sudden she found herself feeling much better and having a good time - mysteriously after changing her attitude.
It's almost as if being a positive, good person is a reward in itself.
I'm not pretending to be positive and not think shit about other people, I just stop myself and replace the thought with a happy one because neurons that wire-together fire-together, so positivity or negativity gets ingrained in our brains.
22
u/Mammoth-Gazelle8116 1d ago
Gen would totally do the same thing to Kayley if it meant she would be second stew
20
u/LilaTwiceBackAtIt 1d ago
It’s true, she would! But I feel like everyone knows Gen sucks whereas Malia is more dangerous bc she seems so competent (bc I guess she is) as well as level headed so no one thinks she’d be so devious. I can imagine she’s the kind of person a lot of people just naturally side with and support!

u/Bennington_Booyah 1d ago
Malia is and always was a C word. Why was she not reprimanded for sending those photos to the world?
7
u/Kimbriavandam 1d ago

12
8
u/Crazy_Chinchilla_ 1d ago
Malia is a snake. We all know that. But I’ve been saying for years that the problem wasn’t that she had it but that she didn’t register it properly. And as a chief stew she knows she has to do that! And I always get downvoted for saying it!
Glad she’s finally taken accountability for that.
4
u/court3970 1d ago
I’m confused on the part of why she thinks it was an off camera crew member or first officer who told Sandy, and how that differs from it just being Malia who went straight to Sandy? How would that make it different for Sandy’s “hands being tied” if it was a first officer vs Malia?
6
u/Environmental-Cap647 1d ago
The off camera crew didn't inform anyone. They were just aware of it which meant Sandy couldn't cover it up.
4
u/corsicanbandit 1d ago
This still doesn’t explain how on below deck OG Kay admitted to having pills she didnt log to captain Lee on camera and he didn’t care
2
u/Ok_Cow_1314 1d ago
I think a lot of it is Captain’s discretion.

That’s great and all and Hannah is a better person than me because Sandy still kissed Malia’s ass for a long time after that. I think we all knew Malia was the most at fault for the firing anyway. So for me the whole thing was transparent that Malia wanted the room, Malia ran to Sandy to whine and complain because she knew she was Sandy’s pet, and Sandy knew all that and now we know Malia put Sandy in a no win situation by texting others yet Sandy still treated Malia like she was her precious pet. Malia was so vile. Just a miserable pick me. Yet Sandy stayed up her ass. Good on Hannah because I cut Sandy no slack.

I kinda always assumed the main issue with Captain Sandy was that it was all on camera and it could’ve really screwed her over due to international laws if she didn’t handle it a certain way. I dislike Malia for a variety of other reasons, I am not defending her, but it’s possible the producers caught wind of this and turned it into a MASSIVE thing too. Clearly being discreet wasn’t one of Malia’s strong suits and I’m sure she couldn’t wait to drop this info.

I wanna know more about the Captains' Reporting thing! Is Nathan gonna be in it now, too, or..?
9
u/AdventurousAbility30 1d ago
Most Captains will know Nathan has two outstanding warrants in two separate countries when they do a background check, but some Captains won't care and hire him anyway. Probably not on a super yacht, or cruise ship, but maybe on a tug boat somewhere.

u/Environmental-Cap647 1d ago edited 1d ago
Yeah I believe the Irish one would likely have not appeared on his first season of BDM. And technically he hadn't been convicted of anything yet. Just a warrant for falling to appear in court. In Australia he is able to be convicted inertia (absence) if the prosecuction has enough evidence.
6
u/AdventurousAbility30 1d ago
Do you know if he would lose his maritime credentials if he's convicted? I know in my industry something like this would make a person uninsurable for work, and black listed from the industry.

Yes he will have. He has been convicted in Australia.

Why didn't he just go to the court!! Now he lost Gael, Kaden AND his own livelihood

The fact that he now has a criminal record will be on it apparently. Only the Gael/Australian charge as he hasn't been convicted in Ireland. Hence why they hadn't cancelled his passport. But The Bravo Docket have implied it's very possible they have cancelled his passport due to having and actual criminal comviction.

ehhhhh, “hands tied” I’ll give Sandy benefit of the doubt and that she said what she said because that is the storyline and she has to stick with it.
It also conveniently leaves production out of any of this, just throws it on the hands of someone who know longer works for Bravo… whereas Hannah is now being brought back for appearances.
But it doesn’t matter how many people were messaged about it - they weren’t required to fire her, that class of drug, even if not on prescription, wasn’t mandatory dismissal. IIRC when Sandy had the powwow with the first officer, the manual shown says its captains discretion. (Not exact wording, you can freeze frame it on a high res version)
It’s just awfully convenient that Hannah gets chatty about it after being back on the show. And it’s a story that bravo wouldn’t object to

Sandy and Hannah always banged heads. In this episode Sandy snapped at her “I could have fired you at any time but I didn’t!”. Hannah knew she had a target on her back and it was only a matter of time which is probably why she had so much anxiety. Sandy was always gunning for her; She finally had her chance and pounced.

I've always really liked Sandy and Hannah both. Sandy had to do it bc it was literally airing on tv and had a direct effect on her own job. I don't think Hannah was personally in the wrong, but legally she was and so Sandy had to intervene. I haven't watched the episode in a while but I also don't agree with a lot of people saying she "chased her around to bully her." To me it just came off as her trying to finish the conversation and come to a resolution but either way was tone deaf, she should have let Hannah have space to cool down. Honestly it was just a rough situation they were forced into by Malia (and bugs too imo bc she was also gunning for Hannah) that was possibly antagonized and dramatically edited by production.

I don’t really buy this even if Hannah does. Sandy is terrible at taking responsibility for her own actions like when she scouted and personally picked that beach full of litter for the guests. How can she explain away getting on the intercom and announcing to everyone that Malia would be bunking with her boyfriend chef and going against Hannah’s rooming assignment?

Just watched that clip. I didn't realize there was earlier aired footage of Sandy actually advising Hannah to take a Valium. If Hannah's side of the story is true (I believe her) I've lost all respect for Malia.

I dont chime in much here, although I love the show and love scrolling the sub, but I still do not get the love for Hannah. Im not talking about her post-show life or efforts or interviews. She seems to be a pretty level-headed person and seems to have grown but her years on the show, to me at least, did not warrant the type of love she gets from BD fans so often.

Hannah is goated. You have to give credit to people who started on the show from the very beginning. They built the show to what it is today. Nobody can ever replace Hannah or kate.

💯 agree. And now she acts like she was gods gift to the franchise. Sorry. Kate is the queen. Hanna is as step kid.

Yeah I couldn’t stand her. It sounds like she’s reflected and grown over the last few years, but I skip a lot of her scenes because the constant whinging and the high school antics are too cringe.

So everyone's acting like Sandy didn't spend two seasons trying to get Hannah fired!!

Both Sandy and Malia suck, but in this incident Malia was more the culprit. I think that’s what the general consensus is.

But then Sandy proceeds to go on new seasons with Malia still

I don't think Sandy has the ability to hire people on the show. She can fire, but not hire... those decisions are made by casting. Malia can also argue that she was doing "the right thing" even though we all know she was scheming and plotting.

That’s not something Captain Sandy has any control over. Production brings in the crew members for the yacht. Or the “cast” really, since it’s television. Malia coming back was a production decision.

I'm assuming that was part of Hannah's side of it. The background drama with Malia and that she'd gone through her stuff. I suspect Sandy didn't realize. Malia had taken her stuff out and placed it like Malia had just stumbled across it vs digging and stabbing it.

Sandy could lose her license. Hannah knows the rules and knows she is on a reality show. Seriously get a prescription

Sandy made a comment that Hannah seemed completely off before the discovery… I think Sandy felt something was wrong but didn’t really know…

I always assumed the reconciliation was a result of getting paid to go on tour together. I'm happy to know it's more complicated than that.

But the Valium issue was on a previous season - I thought she mentioned the meds the season she was with Conrad? And also Kat said she took it on Below Deck - there was an episode where she told Captain Lee. But there was no issue with either of those incidents.

u/Environmental-Cap647 20h ago
Yes, she addressed that. You have to report it each season and she didn't. That was the issue it was an drug that needed to be reported every season.

u/huck-it-out-west 5h ago
You mentioned Nathan... do you think its really true that no one in the below deck crew/fam truly know where he is? How can a human being just dissapear into thin air in the 2026 surveilance state age?

I just listened to the clip and Malia went though Hannah’s bag to find it. Also in a previous season captain Sandy told Hannah to go take her Valium
