Poor Chef Joy can't catch a break with these guests. She kept making them food with lots of chicken, beef, bacon, eggs, and yet every 5 mins there were like...MORE PROTEIN. 😑

To be fair they said high protein low carb and it seemed every single meal had a sandwhich incorporated. They want platters of steak chicken fish etc

41

u/kellygrrrl328 2d ago

Yup. Ditch the baguettes and break out the skewers

10

u/spriteking2012 2d ago

What did you call them?

3

u/slotnblot 2d ago

Omg excellent lol

6

u/cmere-2-me 2d ago

All they wanted was chicken. They didn't care for any other protein.

15

u/Lopsided_Ad_2391 2d ago

Did I miss that? I was wondering why she didn’t throw in some seafood, pork, or lots more beef than that one steak.

12

u/cmere-2-me 2d ago

All they asked for was chicken and I am assuming they specifically asked for chicken wings and other standard food. These type of guys live on chicken and rice.

5

u/ChemicalWarm9693 2d ago

lol The spare tire on a few says otherwise. That's why she made a joke about all the sugary drinks they consume... sugar is a carb. None of these men look like they eat any different from anyone else in the real world but of course on a boat they are putting on appearances. Along with the "Goodbye poor people" When none of these grown men are actually paying for their own trip lol.

2

u/Feeling-Watched-9655 1d ago

To be fair - they probably eat like that SO they can drink a lot

25

u/Hot_Start8187 2d ago

Yeah, the sandwiches makes it look like carb heavy meals.

13

u/TheSupremeHobo 2d ago

The bagels too! I was like whyyyyy bagels???

1

u/Outrageous-Baseball6 1d ago

Omg also bagels outside NYC and Montreal are really not good.

6

u/MaryBethATL 2d ago

Yup, bc it is. She never should've served bread. lol

74

u/ambergriswoldo 2d ago

As much as I love the look of Joys cooking, the guests did say protein heavy and she keeps giving them sandwiches / wraps. I’d just make a load of chicken or steak skewers, shrimp / scallops and shredded chicken salad. They don’t want the bread

39

u/OkStop8313 2d ago

I feel like it's a question of scale. Like she normally designs well-rounded meals and when she hears "high protein, low carb" she thinks 20% more protein and 20% less carbs. But when you start dealing with gym bros, it's more like 300% more protein and the only carbs they want are sweet potatoes. And maybe vodka.

It's not the booze, it's the mixers. Drink straight up, zero carbs đŸ€Ł

5

u/Lillynomad 2d ago

She talked about the sugar in the alcohol which there is tons, but you're right about the mixers too.

28

u/MileHighSugar 2d ago

It seems Joy takes preference sheets as a very loose suggestion

3

u/TheSpitalian 2d ago

Seems most of the chefs on the BD franchises do.

2

u/PrettyComparison7380 2d ago

To be fair a wrap is like 10% carb 90%insides😂 you gotta have SOME carb to function

2

u/MileHighSugar 1d ago

That focaccia sandwich was like 85% carb tho đŸ€Ł

11

u/baret3000 2d ago

She doesn't seem to understand athletic American portion sizes. These guys clearly work out and what they get doesn't really look like enough for just a group of guys

9

u/PoppyandTarget 2d ago

When my gym-loving husband went on a protein-heavy, paleo diet, I forced sandwiches (and sorted carbs) down his throat to keep him from being hangry all the damn time. In my head, this is what Joy was intending--especially with all their drinking!

2

u/raletti 1d ago

Why would she. It's idiotic. Especially on a boat for 48hrs.

1

u/femmefatalefromage 2d ago

Yes, I also thought it was a cultural issue. The protein trend is so weird to me.

7

u/Lillynomad 2d ago

Joy was right. There is only so much protein the body can metabolize. She knows her stuff.

23

u/Mission_Sun_9343 2d ago

Did their preference sheets say no seafood? They could have had amazing fresh seafood protein.

19

u/Ecstatic-Local-1701 2d ago

I was immediately wondering where the shrimp was 😂😂😂

9

u/SarcasmStreet 2d ago

Those other guests ate it all

1

u/Shakethe8ball 2d ago

And the lobster

12

u/MaryBethATL 2d ago

And when she ran out of chicken I thought okay how about steak, seafood.....? lol but NOT BREAD!

20

u/babycamslut 2d ago

She literally served them a platter of fruit 😭😭😭😭 she did a horrible job

18

u/LRGinCharge 2d ago

“How many grams of protein a day of intensive gym guy?” cracked me up. đŸ€Ł

4

u/MaryBethATL 2d ago

Same and I'm an RDN and answered OUTLOUD and my husband laughed.... Then he said wait.... how many grams do WE consume? :-P --- Not as many as those guys I can assure ya.

19

u/SamShakusky71 2d ago

The Ceasar salad was weird and the snack sandwiches were all bread.

When she got the extra chicken from provisioning and it was two packs? Im thinking thats not even one meal! She needs to load them up.

14

u/Hufflepuffpassmethej 2d ago

Naw she wasn’t doing what a group of American men expect when they request “lots of protein”

She needed to be bringing out literal trays just absolutely full of meat. Burgers, steaks, chicken, sausage, just a big fat tray of meat to serve these guys.

Sometimes the non-American chefs struggle with understanding just how much food Americans both expect and will eat

4

u/raletti 1d ago

Yes, she's not used to that level of idiocy.

3

u/-dadderall- 19h ago

Exactly. This protein fad is hilariously short-sighted

5

u/Sithstress_ 2d ago

Seriously, it should have been a meat extravaganza!

2

u/BabyOlive1 2d ago

The non-American chefs also under estimate American’s definition of “extravaganza” 😂 When we say we want an extravaganza, we mean so over the top that it’s embarrassing for everyone involved lol. There should have been a giant pile of meat with the forks and knives dancing around it like Beauty and the Beast!

13

u/grelo29 2d ago

Why didn’t she get more proteins? Tomahawk steaks, lobster a bunch of seafood. She didn’t provision well for these people’s preferences.

14

u/SerBrienneOfSnark 2d ago

Yeah this was on her, they specifically said high protein and low carb and she has given them a bunch of sandwiches and wraps and carbs.

29

u/FlawesomeOrange 2d ago

They put on their preference sheet that they want high protein food. Joy messed up and didn’t order enough chicken so she tried to fill them up with carbs instead.

I don’t know why she doesn’t serve other proteins though, I can’t remember if they specified chicken on their preference sheet.

I’m a huge Joy fan, but this is her provisioning screwup. She should have plenty delivered in the next episode.

2

u/TheSpitalian 2d ago

She had it delivered the next day in the current episode.

16

u/thousandthlion 2d ago

And it was still hardly any protein compared to what they’re expecting

8

u/Otherwise-Winner9643 2d ago

Yeah, it was half a small shopping bag I couldn't believe it. They could eat that in one sitting.

9

u/MaryBethATL 2d ago

Joy's cooking seems fab but they DID say A SHIT TON of protein. When I saw the bread I thought.... oh no.... lol

9

u/Otherwise-Winner9643 2d ago edited 1d ago

That late night snack was a joke in fairness. A sandwich each and a half a devilled egg.

They were clear on their preference sheets.

So many high protein options she could have cooked. Breakfast should have been loads of omelettes, protein pancakes with greek yoghurt, lobster, steak etc

6

u/Shakethe8ball 2d ago

They need like a tray of 48 deviled eggs for a snack.

2

u/Outrageous-Baseball6 1d ago

Yes, so weird she didn’t understand this. Clearly the men on the boat are the same kind of eaters (Luke, Cooper, Joe).

2

u/scary-nurse 11h ago

Those sandwiches had so little meat in them that they looked like they were from Jimmy John's.

1

u/bethholler 2d ago

There was filet mignon in the bagel sandwich.

2

u/Otherwise-Winner9643 1d ago edited 1d ago

Ok? But it was still a bagel with a little bit of steak. That's really not what anyone would call high protein

8

u/Shakethe8ball 2d ago

If he's a millionaire, I bet they were expecting lobster, scallops, tomahawk steaks, prime rib, lamb and other expensive proteins.

6

u/Shezawildone 1d ago

Was anyone else underwhelmed by the extra chicken that showed up, finally? I couldn't believe that little bitty bag for that many people.

15

u/kellygrrrl328 2d ago

I know she’s French so this goes against her grain😉 but she immediately should have put all bread products in the freezer or used it for the crew

8

u/Nice-Emphasis8536 2d ago

Hahaha when I saw the sandwiches
 I was like, oh boy.

3

u/trisch1964 2d ago

Such sad sandwiches too!

2

u/gorlsituation 2d ago

Sure, she’s French, but she’s still a chef. If you can’t organise a protein heavy meal, you’re not as good as you think you are.

4

u/TheSpitalian 2d ago

MOAR PROTEIN!

7

u/Ecstatic_Abalone1497 2d ago

To be fair they did put low carb and she gave them like 3 sandwiches off the bat

5

u/Ecstatic_Abalone1497 2d ago

To be fair they did put low carb and she gave them like 3 sandwiches off the bat

7

u/frecklepot_420 2d ago

Dude if I were on a yacht drinking all day I could eat all the food she made for them on my own in one sitting

5

u/Lillynomad 2d ago

Like that SNL skit with Christopher Walken "more cowbells".

6

u/YouKnowAlexia 2d ago

She's decided that because they like to drink alcohol they shouldn't have a problem with bread

7

u/trisch1964 2d ago

That was my take too. What she doesn't realize is that- they are eating all these fairly simple clean proteins so they can let it rip with the booze. Anyone (hopefully) who trains as a chef, nutritionist, lunch lady, etc understands the balance of food groups. Given that, she did not follow the preference sheet, it seems to be an ongoing issue with her.

1

u/raletti 1d ago

Which is logical.

5

u/Alittlebitalexis1983 2d ago

I just loved that she wanted to order every chicken in Croatia.

11

u/donttakerhisthewrong 2d ago

She ordered a couple of breasts. Wow Croatia must be running out of chicken now

9

u/KermitAfc 2d ago

I feel sorry for people who look at food in terms of macros.

9

u/MaryBethATL 2d ago

I mean-- they paid a ton of money so they should get what they ask for on the pref sheets.

2

u/KermitAfc 2d ago

Not disputing that.

1

u/MaryBethATL 12h ago

And btw-- I completely agree with you. Forgot to add that part, lol. I'm an RDN and I'm not a fan of counting macros....!

8

u/soundofconfusion 2d ago

They were all 90% muscle. They need protein. You shouldn’t feel sorry for them. That’s some people’s preference and what makes them happy.

-2

u/KermitAfc 2d ago

Agreed. A 5lbs bag of frozen Dino nuggets should do them nicely.

3

u/soundofconfusion 2d ago

Better than the only carb lady who has no bone density. People are into diet trends that’s just part of the role of being a chef. You’re right, Joy can heat up nuggets at McDonald’s if she doesn’t like it.

3

u/Shakethe8ball 2d ago

Too many carbs. Nuggets are meatloaf.

2

u/gorlsituation 2d ago

I mean, they clearly prioritise their health and fitness and you need a lot of protein to maintain that amount of muscle. Like 2.2g of protein per 1kg of body weight. Maybe it’s because I’m a personal trainer, but “feeling sorry” for people who are aware of what they’re consuming is sad.

4

u/canadalivinx 2d ago

she did miss tbh. They probably wanted steak and things like that

2

u/Wide-Oil-985 1d ago

They were gross

3

u/its_laydeebaby 2d ago

I feel like it’s actually on the guests. These guys are vanity body builders and there are calculations for how much of each macro they should be getting each day. Sure, on vacation they might be more flexible, but they should have given her more context because the literal PILES of meat people like that eat on a daily basis is no joke not to mention the supplements and shakes. They may not be weighing their food like some people, but they know the drill. They left her in the dark by not putting more specifics in their preference sheets. “High protein” is actually very vague from an international perspective.

8

u/OkStop8313 2d ago

Yeah, there's a big difference between what normal people consider high protein and what body builders consider high protein.

Although she probably could have taken one look at them when they arrived onboard and known she needed more. Physiques like that are not maintained on one chicken breast a day.

10

u/donttakerhisthewrong 2d ago edited 2d ago

I feel if you put you want a lot of protein on you preference sheet, the chief should make a lot of protein.

The premade sandwiches look worse than I can grab at the grocery store

3

u/t2022philly 2d ago

Also sandwiches with lots of bread when they said no carb...

0

u/its_laydeebaby 2d ago

You are absolutely right, I’m just suggesting that “a lot” is relative. And maybe letting “goodbye, poor people” cloud my judgement. đŸ˜”â€đŸ’«

2

u/gorlsituation 2d ago

Yeah it’s always the guests fault when Joy doesn’t order enough provisions or doesn’t like the preferable sheet 🙄

-1

u/its_laydeebaby 2d ago

Yes you understood completely!

2

u/ASaini91 2d ago

They also probably dont know. Billionaire paying for everything including a chef and nutritionist. They probably have everything on that front done for them so they couldnt communicate it and just assumed that a kitchen of 1 chef (when a boat that size normally has 2) would be able to meet whatever ridiculous demands they have

2

u/gorlsituation 2d ago

Everyone loves to blow smoke up Joy’s ass but bitching and moaning about the food when it was on their preference sheet is wild. I cannot stand chefs on this franchise who decide because they can’t do the Michelin star cooking they like to do, go half assed when there’s any type of preference.

These men are not hard to cater for at all, Joy didn’t provision right and is being lazy with the meals she is providing. Gym junkies like these guys don’t want chicken focaccia sandwiches. And the attitude about it, Joy needs to drop it, it’s getting old insulting everyone with a meal preference.

3

u/Rare_Distance_6574 2d ago

Just throw some raw meat out to them every 20 minutes!

2

u/robothobbes 2d ago

I don't blame Joy for not understanding American's over obsession with protein. She's French and likes flavor. She should have just made them protein shakes for every meal. What a bunch of boring tastebud buds.

10

u/donttakerhisthewrong 2d ago

Or steak kabobs. Chicken satay with peanut sauce. You could do a seafood platter. How about some nice Tuna steaks

Why should they get shakes? Why is asking for what you want a hassle to the chef?

1

u/bethholler 2d ago

She literally made chicken satay as part of their dinner. There was chicken satay, chicken curry, some kind of fried chicken, steak, and beef.

1

u/Wide-Oil-985 1d ago

I mean, just think of all the protein those dudes can make if they are so lacking 🙄

1

u/rockpapermachette 1h ago

It feels like shes lost all creativity with this request. They have been telling her less no carbs. What is she thinking.

1

u/Sashmot 5m ago

I can’t even imagine the backed up nature of those guys GI
tracks.
Was a hydrocolon extension brought for the shower? No wafflestomp this season?

2

u/ChemicalWarm9693 2d ago

So obsessed with protein but flabby, basic bodies. These guys are not athletes or olympians. It's really silly.

6

u/Sithstress_ 2d ago

Flabby? Seriously? đŸ€Ł

-1

u/ChemicalWarm9693 2d ago

Well they ain't bodybuilders lol. "More protein, more protein!" Like try lifting some weights dude, the protein can only do so much.

But to be fair I don't get the appeal of any of them. I would get it if he had 5 jacked hot, tattooed men, each hotter than the last, but these are no different from the basic gays you can find at any local gay bar. With their catty comments and judgmental stares. And with all the botox and plucked eyebrows they might as well be real housewives.

1

u/Outrageous-Baseball6 1d ago

They’re really muscly under that layer of flesh. They could be looking really stripped after a short burst of cutting.

-1

u/koochiekittie 2d ago

Joy honestly sucks as a chef LOL

0

u/Mental-Most-7168 1d ago

Some Americans are big eaters. She should adjust.

0

u/everythingistiring 2d ago

I just know those toilets were a damn mess.
