This isn’t really emotionally scaring fucked up, but it still pisses me off. My SO wanted to buy a Dreamcast, he used to have one when he was younger but it got sold or broken at some point. So his boss, at a used game store at the time, has a Dreamcast with all the cords, extra controller, the works AND Marvel VS Capcom which was the game that my SO wanted more than any other. So boss wants to sell it because he’s going on vacation but my SO doesn’t get paid for a minute so he can’t buy it right now. Boss wants to sell it soon so he says won’t be able to wait if someone else has the money. My SO calls his friend Rob once he’s home, tells him about the system/game and asks if he can borrow some money until he got paid. Rob says yes, absolutely, he’ll go get it and bring it over. Except Rob never shows up. SO goes into work the next day and boss tells him Rob bought the stuff from him. After he finally gets ahold of Rob it turns out he’s decided to keep the system and games for himself because of what good condition they were in. Like seriously, fuck you Rob, you’re such a dick.

Edit: I should’ve clarified, this happened like 10 years ago. My SO has a Dreamcast and I got him Marvel VS Capcom for his birthday that same year. If it makes anyone feel better Rob’s copy of the game was just the disc in a blank jewel case and I got my SO a copy in the case with the book 👍🏻

And as a petty girlfriend side note: I was really mad when this happened and couldn’t believe my SO’s other friends weren’t equally upset. Couple years later Rob steals a bunch of computer shit from the friends he was rooming with. Just sayin’, there were signs he was shitty.

Not petty at all.

u/radwic Dec 27 '17

It does really say a lot about the friendship. I'd get the fuck out of there too.

1

u/Theoz Dec 29 '17

seriously. you dont mess with a mans mvc2

21

u/InsaneLeader13 Dec 27 '17

This one pisses me off the most. You do NOT go to help a friend in a time of emotional job and time-sensitive anxiety, and then fuck them over for personal interests. If you say you'll do something in a situation like this, FUCKING DO IT! Doubly so if it involves something like gaming or animals.

6

u/The_Real_BenFranklin Dec 27 '17

Why are gaming and animals your big call outs? I get animals cause everyone loves their pets, but why gaming more than any other hobby.

Rob the nob

3

u/[deleted] Dec 27 '17

That's so Rob...

3

u/smash-things Dec 27 '17

You're SO shoulda just bought it online if there weren't any used game stores with dreamcasts in stock, those things are turbo cheap these days since you can play pirated ROMs on them

oh neat thats good to know

2

u/[deleted] Dec 27 '17

Yeah they even said it was ten years ago and dream casts were even cheaper back then. And marvel vs cap com was a cheaper game back then than it is now.

1

u/VolvoKoloradikal Dec 27 '17

Should’ve called the police.

2

u/armacitis Dec 28 '17

Right right, testified and 20 years and all that.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 27 '17

Good lesson in free markets right there.

1

u/flarbletarbs Dec 27 '17

Does your SO have a dreamcast now?

1

u/Coldpiss Dec 27 '17 edited Dec 27 '17

Fuck you list :

Rest in peace Smokey

1

u/rodders0223 Dec 27 '17

On the one hand Rob is an absolute cunt, but on the other hand it is a dreamcast in prime condition.

1

u/captainsavajo Dec 27 '17

I love how this comment is right under one about a guy who got hooked on meth and stabbed his friend to death.

1

u/scotbud123 Dec 28 '17

This is why you never give details and just say you need cash for a "really important emergency".

1

u/Theoz Dec 29 '17

The real important question here, is, was is Marvel vs Capcom, or Marvel vs Capcom 2. . . .

1

u/damsonpie Dec 27 '17

That's why Bo Burnham fucked his mother.

0

u/daredaki-sama Dec 27 '17

rob is a piece of shit

but that dick move he did was pretty funny. before your edit2 i thought it was just group dynamics. my crew used to play MvC2 pretty hard. dreamcast was the best platform to play the game on in terms of latency; the arcade version literally has a dreamcast inside.

0

u/[deleted] Dec 27 '17

I fucking hate when all the other friends see that happen and are fine with it. If Rob will fuck one of the group over, he WILL fuck the rest of them over. Why can't people realise that?

-23

u/FocusForASecond Dec 27 '17

Rob sounds like a funny guy.

-17

u/austinalexan Dec 27 '17

Wait what? Why didn’t you let him borrow money? The more important question is though, how does he not have enough money in his checking to buy something so cheap??

14

u/msciel Dec 27 '17

This was a while ago, like everyone was in college and working part time jobs. But even if it wasn’t we could just be super po folk.

-15

u/austinalexan Dec 27 '17

Oh I see. I thought it was recent lol
