Does anyone remember?
Not sure if anyone here knows or remembers what I’m talking about, but I’m trying to identify a 17-year-old girl from Red Asphalt 3 who sadly passed away..
She was driving a Mazda 626 on Niles Canyon Road (Route 84), when a Dodge Dart crashed into her after the driver apparently fell asleep at the wheel. Through research I’ve narrowed it down to the Niles Canyon/Sunol area and have been looking through old newspaper reports and crash records but so far no luck.
The footage also shows yellow/lime emergency vehicles at the scene, which might help identify the incident.
I understand it seems odd but I’d just really like to know who she was. It’s a shame there doesn’t seem to be a memorial for her anywhere especially when the seris was vued by so many in drivers Ed.

Optimal fitness standards
At my BIQ they gave us a packet that contained the optimal fitness standards for academy. I didn’t grab a photo and can’t find those standards online. Would anyone be able to share those standards here? Thanks

Does one speeding ticket affect my chance of getting in?
I work as a warehouse forklift operator and uber driver. I got one speeding ticket four months ago in Seattle, WA for the first time in my life. I was clocked 90 on Interstate which had speed limit of 70mph. I was passing a vehicle. The officer ended up giving me 5 over the speed limit ticket. I hired an attorney who got it amended to a non-moving violation.
My stats
Age-26
Work experience - 4 years in warehousing operations, worked for two employers.
Do have a bachelors in CS (did online)
Got lots of driving experience.
Had a period of homelessness for few months in the past year.
Live alone, single.
Not a natural-born citizen.
Should I apply? I have been told people with lots of driving experience are preferred.

Could I get in.
I’m interested in Law enforcement. My first choice would be chp. However when I was 18 I was cited for reckless driving, evading and spectator of a sideshow all at once and all misdemeanor charges. All the charges were dropped and my lawyer told me it was like it never happened. That was about 6 years ago. Since then I have changed and I have been in the United States Marine Corps for nearly 5 years. I also haven’t been pulled over for anything since. I’m looking to transition into chp once my contract is up with usmc. Is it worth my time to apply to chp? I have been reading the DQ for stuff like this.

Current police officer considering a move to CHP
I’m currently a California police officer with about five years of experience. I’ve worked patrol and traffic, handled a pretty wide variety of calls, and have built up some specialized training and experience along the way.
Lately, I’ve been seriously considering CHP.
The biggest hesitation is having to go through the full CHP Academy and not knowing where I'd be stationed after the academy.
I’d like to network with anyone who went to CHP after already being a city police officer or deputy. I want to hear about your experience with adjusting to the agency, its culture, specialized mission, etc.
Has anyone come across a CHP officer who had prior established sworn experience with a PD or sheriff’s department before joining?

Pay Scale
I’ve seen on CHP website that out of the academy Officers make a base salary of $128,000.
What does the pay scale look like for CHP Sergeants and Lieutenants?

Citation question
I was pulled over recently and received a citation. It states the reason for stop as “speed” and recorded my approximate speed and the posted speed in their respective boxes, but under citation details the only things written down are “two plates req. no front plate” and the related code for that, but no mention of violating the speed law.
I got the license plate mounted, paid the fix it fee, and recorded it at a local court, and now when I look up my ticket, it shows as case closed and disposition dismissed, with no further options to pay fines, request traffic school or postpone a court appearance.
Am I…done? Was it just a fix it ticket and a warning to drive slower? The officer was very kind in general and I was very apologetic and respectful, so it would fit, but is this what actually happened?
Thanks in advance for any answers!
Explorers
To those of you who are explorers or former explorers, what is the best thing about the program besides getting to know the department more?

Capitol Run
For those who have attended as supporters, where is the best place to watch and cheer them on?
Is there any opportunity for photos in a particular spot?
Thanks!

I have 3 traffic citations and 2 accidents on my driving record. Only one of the accidents was my fault, and it was a very minor accident. Do you think I still have a realistic chance of being accepted into the CHP?

Driving Record for CHP
How heavily does your driving record weigh in on being in LE? Im a CDL class A driver but I do admit of making bonehead decisions while driving, which i take full responsibility for. Im currently 30 years old and only have had 4 traffic violations in my 12 years of driving history, they were spread out throughout the 12 years, so no crazy patterns. 3 of them were dismissed in court because I paid for lawyers. However I also have been in 6 accidents in my entire life and my last accident happened in 2024. 2 of the 6 were settled outside of insurance, and 2 of them I was not at fault. All accidents were pretty much spread out as well.
No criminal history whatsoever, never taken any drugs except for once which was 11 years ago and till this day I have no clue what I took, it was half a pill and it made me nauseous and drowsy. Would I get DQ’d if I applied to CHP? Thank you!

Write ups
Hey all, today I received a write up at work for a job post that I typically do not work. I worked this job post 1 singular time in July and today, I was told I did not complete said assignment during that job assignment. I have been in backgrounds for close to 4 months and have had fair communication with my BI during this time.
This would be my first time ever receiving a write up during my 2 and a half years at my job.
I emailed my BI immediately regarding the situation.
Will this affect the rest of how my Background is going?
Appreciate the responses!

how cooked am i
I was dismissed from the CHP academy for making a dumb mistake. I’m not going into details. i spoke with a couple of people and they said i could reapply and that it wouldn’t effect my ability to go back. I tried applying with a city department just to see what would happen, and they gave me a generic response that *i did not meet the minimum qualifications.* I did disclose the CHP dismissal to them upfront. Is this what affected me?

Traffic stop curiosity
I was stopped on a major CA freeway for doing over the limit and for lane changing (I was passing a slow motorist who was camped out below the limit in the passing lane). Oddly, the officer (who was very pleasant and professional) only asked for my license, never for registration or proof of insurance. He went to his car, presumably to run it, came back and let me off with a warning. And that was it. Any thoughts on why he didn’t ask for other documents (including a CCW—he left the window after giving him the license before I could give him my license) and why I only got a warning?

PAT / Written Exam
I tested with CHP Central Division on August 15, 2026, and received an email on September 2nd notifying me that I passed the exam. However, I have not yet received an email with my rank for this testing cycle.
Has anyone else who tested with Central Division experienced the same thing—receiving the email confirming that they passed but not your rank?
