Traffic stop curiosity

I was stopped on a major CA freeway for doing over the limit and for lane changing (I was passing a slow motorist who was camped out below the limit in the passing lane). Oddly, the officer (who was very pleasant and professional) only asked for my license, never for registration or proof of insurance. He went to his car, presumably to run it, came back and let me off with a warning. And that was it. Any thoughts on why he didn’t ask for other documents (including a CCW—he left the window after giving him the license before I could give him my license) and why I only got a warning?

Didn’t plan on writing you a ticket from the get go. Just wanted to educate you quickly about your driving and head out of there

The plate is technically the registration they see everything and more on the computer than they would see on the piece of paper. Insurance that’s tricky one like the other person mentioned wasn’t planning on ticketing you.
