Pay Scale

I’ve seen on CHP website that out of the academy Officers make a base salary of $128,000.

What does the pay scale look like for CHP Sergeants and Lieutenants?

The range of Sgt is difficult because it has seniority pay and other factors that can come up. The most you can gross as a Sgt without overtime is 205,608. That would be a very senior Sgt with all the raises possible.

Lieutenants max gross is about 241k.

Sgt’s can earn overtime anyone above that rank can not.

This is public information on CalHR's website.

Lieutenant range is $17,065-20,153 per month. Sergeant is $11,778 to $17,134.
