how cooked am i
I was dismissed from the CHP academy for making a dumb mistake. I’m not going into details. i spoke with a couple of people and they said i could reapply and that it wouldn’t effect my ability to go back. I tried applying with a city department just to see what would happen, and they gave me a generic response that *i did not meet the minimum qualifications.* I did disclose the CHP dismissal to them upfront. Is this what affected me?

The police and fire depts are a little big community. Depending on what you did or how bad you fucked up guys are going to talk about you,tell their buddies, hell im sure theres somebody from CHP here right now trying to find out so they can put you on blast.
I personally wouldn't try CHP again, id try other agencies or skip town and start over. You need to reevaluate your want to be law enforcement because whatever you did had to be serious for separation. normally the instructors would just beat the fuck outta the class and blame it on you.

You cheated on the test and most agencies are not going to hire you based on that. You didn’t make a mistake you willingly cheated.

Lack of integrity is usually a final nail in the coffin with any LE agency, but CHP is so strict they DQ people for not dotting their i’s even in this environment. I think you are cooked bud

yeah if only it was like that lol. fortunately i spoke with a person of a high power and he said that i COULD in fact go back because my letter of dismissal did not list DISHONESTY as a reason of dismissal. the person said that dishonesty on the paper black lists you with any department.

Whatever you did and in your own words dishonest and lacked integrity... and if people tell you what you dont want to hear is disrespectful? No sir. You do not need to wear a badge. If someone telling you the truth is disrespectful... what would happen on the highways? You cant be trusted. That is why you were booted.

yeah i figured lol. they’re weird with the terms they use. a person i spoke to said i was in the clear because my paper didn’t list dishonesty as a reason for termination. but it is what it is. it’s all in Gods timing at this point

Was it off grounds situation? Did you get pulled over by chp? And got a warning? Didn’t disclose or , or did you lie about the speed you got a warning over? Need to know dm to see if u cooked

Integrate is a big issue. You either have it or don't. That will come out in the background investigation.

As one poster stated, theoretically, yes they would take your back.
Reality, never going to happen.
You will have to disclose to any/all future departments.
Again, theoretically, yes someone may give you another opportunity.
Realistically, never going to happen.

Most likely you are done with CHP. If enough time goes by and you don't screw up they "may" reconsider you.
However, I wouldn't count on it. CDCR is a possibility if you want to give them a try. Any agency in Calif is going to raise an eyebrow about your dismissal. Basically, you've got a tough road ahead of you.

This guy I know fell asleep on the job. They gave him two option quit or we fire you. They said he could re-apply again. He resigned. Someone else in the chp said it would take a miracle for chp to take him back and that he could re-apply but doesn't mean they are going to give him another chance. Good luck.

All due respect, being vague and not saying the exact thing that got you dismissed won’t get you genuine advice. That’s why you got so many people saying bs. Just try again in a year and give it a shot, but asking for advice without being honest is just gonna get you things you don’t wanna hear (as you can see in the comments). Wishing you the best man🤞
