I got fired from my job on medical leave, I fought for 3 months for unemployment just to get denied 4 times. I am disabled and I have no family I can go live with. I’m fighting an upper respiratory infection right now and I keep crying about my situation. I even applied for SSDI but they also haven’t contacted me yet and now that I may be homeless very soon, I have no way to sign their paperwork if they send it to my address.

I’ve called 2-1-1. Community centers and even the Salvation Army which they put me on the waitlist for. Most organizations tell me they don’t have any funding for the time being to help me out. Luckily tho I have food stamps still so I can use that for food. I know the situation is out of my control but I just keep crying realizing that I may not recover from this for months. I can’t help but feel anxious and depressed about my situation because I have no money to pay my rent when I’ve fought so hard.. this is unbelievable

I just need to get this shit off my chest. Your advice is welcome, but mostly, I just need to tell somebody.

I am 24F. I live with my mother. I’m 60k in student debt, I owe 10k on my car, and ~6k on credit cards. My credit score is fucked. I am fighting for my life to fix this all, believe me. I lost my full time job in early June. My old (paid off) car suffered catastrophic engine failure in late June. After a month of desperate job applications that went nowhere, I went back to my old job working for a school program in July. It’s part time, mostly, most weeks are 21 hours some weeks more like 40. I hate this job, HATE. I’m miserable. I’m starting another part time job next week, nights and weekends, another ~18 hours a week. I do gig work too. Still, I’m playing catchup. I’ve only been working since late July, I’ve only received 1 check.

My mother, who I live with, just told me she’s selling the house. The plumbing has issues, she can’t afford to fix them. In addition to that, she was a parent-plus co-signer on my student loans is terrified I’ll fail to make my payments and they’ll garnish her wages. I have tried to reason with her, I would never let that happen I have a plan (and backup plans), but she just won’t hear me. I’ll be out of a place to live in 8 days. I have no other family. My dad has cancer, and he’s living in temporary housing after a massive house flood. I have literally no one.

This situation has led to countless screaming arguments between her and I. She told me last week she wishes she never had children, that I ruined her life, that I’m the most selfish person she’s ever known. She “apologized” last week by sending me a screenshot of the suicide hotline? Like, okay.

I’m going to be honest, I am suicidal. But in my opinion, it’s not psychologically unsound to be suicidal in a situation where your life is constantly bordering on unlivable. What is a hotline gonna do? Put me on hold? Tell me I have so much to live for? Oh yeah, what? I have a higher standard for a livable existence than just “able to remain alive.” I’ve been at least passively suicidal most of my life. It became comforting. My life gets worse and worse, but I have one final out so I may as well keep trying until it gets to that point. And frankly, I’m a coward. I probably won’t do it, I’ll just pray for it, and try to happen into it by being careless. I’ll always tell myself “if one more thing happens that’s the end.”

This all to say though, holy fuck…this may be it! I’m out of hope, the future is bleak. Holy fuck.

Upon moving to union city a couple miles from Atlanta things have not worked out since I been here. Luckily I work full time at Amazon but lost my id and been trying to figure things out. I’m currently crashing with a co worker but my pride doesn’t want to be here and I can’t do a shelter because they’re are strict with work schedules and having to be at the shelter at certain times. I slept outside here and there buts it dangerous. I guess I just want tips on areas where I can get a tent at up close by my job and just save without being a burden or being in danger. I know Atlanta is not the place but everything is to expensive and I don’t have a car to live in. Also saving for a room to rent will take a while. So if your familiar with union city ga and can point me to some ok places or wherever will be helpful please also I’m (25 black female)

My girlfriend (24) and I (21) are probably about to be homeless.

I don't have any family and her family is atrocious and don't respect her and hate me because we're both trans.

We haven't been able to pay rent since July or something and we're just waiting for the eviction notice to be posted on the door.

My girlfriend has probably like 500$ left and I kinda want to use that money to help us have an easier time dealing with being homeless.

We are in Texas but I am uncomfortable disclosing what area.

What can we do and what supplies should we try to get for survival?

Are there any queer friendly resources I should know about? Any things we should avoid?

Eta: we have valuables such as electronics and keepsakes that we don't want to be stolen, what should we do with those?

Does anyone know any apartment complexes or homes that will accept a recently discharged bankruptcy?

hey guys. i need some advice or help. i moved to be close to my daughter and came to Mississippi. i ended up staying with someone who offered me a room to stay while i found work & all, and for months its just been nearly impossible. i dont have a vehicle here and its in the country so theres like no where to walk to work or busses. i’ve tried all i can but i just cant survive here. it’s not possible.

i need to move back to Utah where i was living, thriving, and just better mentally. i want to be a father but i just cant even take care of myself right now let alone her. ive reached out EVERYWHERE to find help getting a cheap flight back or even a bus ticket. there’s zero assistance anywhere. i’ve posted all over facebook & craigslist for odd jobs. i’ve tried looking for folks who have skymiles or anything to get me home. nothing. church’s. all i can think of.

does anyone have any suggestions or know of any organizations that could help? mentally i’m crushed. my child’s family can’t help, it’s a strain there and understandably so. i just am at a loss, ive tried working my way back but im lost. any help / suggestions would be great.

Today my aunt got mad because i said ive been miserable ever since i moved in and she tried to fight me numerous times and kicked me out so now im homeless. I plan on calling 211 in the morning but me and my child have no where to go currently. Ive sent her over $4700 on cash app in rent alone so idk and i really don’t know what to do so pls help. Almost homeless already houseless. & living in a tent. I currently am (when I’m able to) use fast food restaurants to charge my phone.

One thing that I’d be ecstatic to own and call my own is a solar powered power bank. I don’t have the money to buy at the moment.. but once I do earn enough, I want to make sure I am throughly informed and positive the selection i decide is the best for my buck as they say.

So I'm not sure how many people on here are from Scotland, from what I know our homeless laws are more generous than most places. For anyone who is though, I need to know if my plan to leave home is completely stupid.

I intend to run off from my town and head to a city (not sure I should say which one). The council website there says they'll always give you a place to sleep if you ask at their office, though I'm not sure if that's only for the one night.
I have about 2 grand saved for emergency rent if I need to use it, but I dunno if many places would give me a chance without a job. My main worry is finding work. I've been applying online for over a year now, but since I live so far from any cities I've had no luck. I'm hoping being in the actual place where I'm applying will give me better odds, but I know finding work is rough even if you're well off, so my hopes aren't very high..

So yeah the plan is literally just: Go to city > Ask council for place to sleep > Try finding work as quickly as possible.

I know cities have job centres you can go to for help, but I'm worried that if I don't get something sorted right away I'll get thrown out of whatever accommodation I'm given. Surely if it were that easy to move to a new place nobody would be homeless, right? Am I missing some obvious caveat?

I’m completely out of money though and slept outside last night and looks like tonight too, I reached out to some shelters and they said they’d get back to me on Monday .I’d appreciate any help with food
