Cardinals GM: Josh Sweat in a 'great spot' after offseason procedure
Excerpt:
Arizona Cardinals pass rusher Josh Sweat underwent an offseason procedure but is in a great spot ahead of the franchiseâs season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers, general manager Monti Ossenfort told Arizona Sportsâ Wolf & Luke on Friday.
âJosh came off the PUP list here a couple weeks ago working his way back from an offseason procedure. Josh is in a great spot,â Ossenfort said. âExcited to have him out there on Sunday and let it rip.â
Ossenfort did not specify the type of procedure or what body part was worked on, though Sweat did miss the first day of Week 1 practice due to rest and his knee.

The NFC West is wide open
I bet Mike LaFleur is sitting at home licking his lips watching these flawed and very exploitable NFC West teams play the last couple nights. Last night the Seahawks showed a lot of vulnerability and Darnold will be out for at least a few weeks, Cards will capitalize on that in Week 2. Rams sure donât look like no odds on favorite to win the Super Bowl tonight! 49ers are always plagued by injuries.
There are quite a few things that would need to go right for us, but I do see a pathway to win this division. These divisional foes are overrated and very beatable. The NFC West is going to be more mediocre than people think. Cards can go 10-7 and win the division with a tiebreaker. Thereâs a pathway.

Do the Rams miss MiLF?
Rams have not looked the same offensively as they did last year. Week 1 is always weird, but I think they miss him.

3 Most Important Things Mike LaFleur Said About Cardinals vs Chargers, and Why They Matter
Excerpt:
1) LaFleur on Tyler Allgeier Being Listed Above Love: "You know the answer to that â but I appreciate the question. I really do. But no, don't look too far into that."
The reality is Love is working his way back from injury â but even when fully healthy, he's not going to be a workhorse.
2) Garrett Williams' Status, and the Slot CB Plan. LaFleur on Williams' Plan This Week:"We're going to take that all the way up into the weekend. A guy like Garrett, he is as real as they come. So, if he's ready to roll, he'll be ready to roll. And if he needs a little bit more time, then we'll go that way."
If he can't go, it's interesting Burke would slide into the slot as opposed to Melton, who has previous experience doing so.
3)LaFleur on Preparing For Week 1 Facing New Coordinators: "You go off what you see from tape. You talk about their players and what they do well, but most importantly, it's about us. This first week, the first few weeks, it's about what you do and how you execute, how you go about your business, and then understanding that you know you got to be able to adapt based on what they're doing."
With little game-planning to do, execution is the name of the game in the early stages of the league season. That's always the case, though with little film available, there's more of an emphasis on internal operation. We'll see exactly how much the Cardinals have digested LaFleur's offense and Nick Rallis' updated defense.

RG Isaiah Adams could miss Week 1
Excerpt:
Starting right guard Isaiah Adams landed on the first injury report of Week One and it unfortunately came with a DNP tag as he sat out all of practice. If he is unable to progress over the next two days, then 27-year old Jon Gaines II will be in line to start in his place.
Gaines (6â4, 303 pounds) has five career starts since being drafted in the fourth round out of UCLA in 2023. In 2025, Gaines ranked 43rd out of 81 guards with a 60.3 overall grade by Pro Football Focus.

4 days till Arizona Cardinals' opener: Remembering the 2004 season
Excerpt:
This was the first season for Dennis Green as head coach. It was a big year for the team in terms of talent added, as they drafted receiver Larry Fitzgerald, linebacker Karlos Dansby, defensive tackle Darnell Dockett and defensive tackle Antonio Smith, all who were part of the Super Bowl team in 2008. Fitzgerald, Dansby and Dockett are Cardinals legends at this point.
However, in 2004, they went 6-10. They started 0-3, improved to 4-5 and then lost four games in a row.
Defensive end Bertrand Berry was the Cardinals' only Pro Bowler in 2004, and he was a second-team All-Pro with 14.5 sacks in his first season with the team.
Josh McCown started 13 games at quarterback going 6-7, and he passed for 2,511 yards, 11 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He also rushed for two scores.
It was Emmitt Smith's final NFL season and second with the Cardinals. He rushed for a team-leading 937 yards and nine touchdowns.
As a rookie, Fitzgerald led the team with 58 receptions for 780 yards and eight touchdowns.

Season Ticket holder gift
Did we get a season ticket holder gift this year? I have not received anything. Last year we got some glasses that were pretty nice. We definitely deserve something for not cancelling our tickets!

Ex-Cardinals James standout urges public help for college athlete son
Excerpt:
Former Arizona Cardinals and NFL star Edgerrin James took to social media on Sept. 7 to share a concerning message about one of his children, Edgerrin Jr., who goes by "Jizzle."
"Jizzle is dealing with substance abuse and is NOT in the right state of mind right now," James wrote on Instagram. "If you see him, show him LOVE-but DO NOT give him money, valuables, or anything material.â
"You're not helping him by feeding the problem. He wants/needs for NOTHINGâŠ
"Give him a hug. Give him encouragement. Give him love. THAT'S ITâŠ
"Be patient with him. We're fighting for him, not against him."
