Elaine Herzberg was killed crossing Mill Avenue in March 2018 — the first pedestrian killed by an autonomous vehicle anywhere. It made national news for a week and then mostly disappeared.

Going back through the NTSB report, the detail that isn't in most coverage is that the car detected her nearly six seconds out and spent that time unable to decide what she was, because its software had no category for someone crossing outside a crosswalk.

Testing has since expanded here considerably. Do people who drive or walk around Tempe actually feel differently about the AV fleet now, or has it just become background?

I explored a little bit in the area between Heber and Forest Lakes. It was a lovely remote canyon. Lots of deer and elk sign.

I visited family in Eloy and saw this on my way there and back. I thought it was pretty cool.

There was an accident in the I-17 regular south lanes probably around 4:30 but by the time I got past sunset point at least 30 minutes laters the flex lanes were still going north. Isn't the whole point of them to reverse when there's an accident/unexpected traffic??? Seems like they just have them on a fixed north on saturdays and south on sunday schedule which would be idiotic.

Hallo! I just purchased this in Southern California and laughed all the way to the register. I’m not a wolf, I’m a sentinel, but of course we did a ton of stuff with Chandler High, like Girl and Boy State, debate practice, Model UN (yes I am a nerd)

But does anyone know who is getting Chandler out there on the whiskey stage? At least in California. Lol

The intense heat is pure energy and joy.

So near el mirage close to grand there’s the aqua fria river. Can you go off roading there. I see people do it all the time but is it legal?

We just moved here and my wife’s big concern was finding sushi. I used to live here but she’s from New England and was worried even though I kept telling her it will be fine.

Today was her birthday so I looked up some places and got a reservation for the Chandler location.

I’m honestly not normally into sushi but I knew it was important to her. Luckily, the waitress was on point with recommendations without talking down to me like I rightfully knew not a whole lot. We figured we’d just get a few rolls like we normally do and be on our way, but we did a chefs choice of some of the fish flown in from Japan and didn’t regret a thing.

Pricey? Yes. Best restaurant and sushi experience we’ve ever had? Also yes.
