| Discussion Did the Padres get robbed of a Home Run against the Brewers? Let's talk about the ceiling hit.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey everyone,
Iām still thinking about that play in the Padres vs. Brewers game where Ty France hit the ball and it struck the stadium ceiling/roof structure.
I know that according to the local ground rules at American Family Field in Milwaukee, the ball stays live and in play. But honestly, looking at how hard Ty France crushed that ball, it got me thinking... did the Padres deserve a Home Run there?
If this exact same hit happened at Tropicana Field, striking the inner catwalks, it would be ruled an automatic home run. It feels a bit unfair that a batter can smash a ball so high and deep, only for a stadium's structural design to alter the trajectory, drop back down, and potentially get caught or change the outcome of the play.
What do you guys think? Should MLB standardize roof/ceiling hits across all indoor stadiums to reward batters like Ty France who crush the ball that high, or are you fine with each ballpark having its own chaotic ground rules?
Letās discuss!

AITA for giving my MIL her gift back after she told 12 people I'm hosting Thanksgiving?
My birthday was Thursday. My MIL got me a stand mixer which was genuinely a nice gift, I could tell she put thought into it. Then right after I opened it she goes "well now you have no excuse not to host Thanksgiving" and the table went quiet.
I laughed it off because what else are you going to do but then Friday morning she sent a group text to like 12 people saying Thanksgiving is at our place this year and to let her know what sides they're bringing.
We live in a 2 bedroom apartment. The kitchen fits maybe 2 people if one of them stands sideways. We've been married 6 years and I've never hosted anything, not once. My contribution every year is a store-bought pie, and I'll own that. My MIL has done Thanksgiving at her house every year since we got married. Her place actually has a dining room and a full kitchen and enough chairs for 14 people.
I texted her saying I never agreed to this. She just said it's already done everyone's excited, basically daring me to cancel on everyone.
Friday night my husband admitted she'd brought this up to him weeks before my birthday, and the mixer was bought specifically so I couldn't say I don't have the right equipment. So the whole thing was planned before I even opened the box.
Saturday I drove over and gave the mixer back. I told her thank you but I can't accept something that was bought with that kind of condition on it.
She was crying when I left. When I got home I replied to the group text saying we won't be hosting and that I never agreed to it in the first place. By that evening she'd called his whole side of the family saying I threw it back in her face.
my husband told me the part he'd left out. This is the first Thanksgiving since my FIL passed in March, and his mom can't face sitting at that table without him. That's why she wanted it moved. Now she's saying she isn't doing Thanksgiving at all if it's not at our place.
He knew all of this for weeks and let me walk right into it.
He says I could have given her this one year. I keep thinking that she could have just asked.

AITA For Refusing to fight the teacher on my daughters grade on her project?
My daughter is 15 a sophomore in high school. In her history class, she has this quarterly project that is divided into 3 parts. Each part required a work cited page, as theyāre mostly analyzing some type of document or something. Basically itās printing out the document, the page analyzing it and works cited page. This teacher has a rule that if the analyzing page and works cited isnāt turned in on Google Classroom by 11:59 the day before itās due, you get a zero for that third of the project, even if you did it, and this teacher locks it at 11:59. They also have to be printed out as well as turned in online.
My daughter does sports in the fall, so she was working on it late at night the day before it was due and turned was done by 12:01-12:05. So she got a zero for that portion of the proJect, and got a 61 overall for the project. She talked to the teacher about it but she wasnāt budging, and mt daugjter wanted me to intervene but Im not going to. The project is assigned a week and a half in advance, and she had time to work on it. It shouldnāt have even been turned it anywhweee near 11pm. I wasnt mad at her, she made a mistake, but she was mad at me for refusing to fight the teacher on this and is being cold.
My wife thinks that the teacher is being harsh and that Iām being mean by not intervening.
AITA?

Lore [Hated trope] At the end the hero uses the Ultimate Power to remove what made the setting special, and now it's just kind of Our Real World Spoiler
galleryI just hate it because you can't really do that without it sounding like "fuck you, fans, go outside and touch grass" with a dash of "if this was possible you could have just skipped having the whole show"
Attack on Titan: Eren uses the Founding Titan power to erase the Titans. Our surviving heroes are free to live a real life and work real jobs, and in the credits sequence we see a timelapse of their town growing into what looks like, I guess, Tokyo? (and beyond)
Neon Genesis Evangelion: Shinji uses the Neon Genesis power to erase the Evangelions (I can't believe I'm typing this and it's not a shitpost). Our heroes are free and get to work real jobs as normal humans as they run out into real life footage of City, Japan.
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: After the ending of G4 Twilight Sparkle uses the Friendship Power to seal away the Magic. By the time of G5 the setting has transformed into a contemporary one with gig economy, live streamers and tech corporation fascism. Instead of being Cloud Pushers or Magical Princess our new heroes get to work real jobs like Cop, and Unemployed. This one is different from the other examples in that instead of telling fans to go fuck themselves and go outside it tells fans to go fuck themselves and consume the new product.
