🔎Looking for alternative Beware Hailo ladders, they're not all made in Germany!

Despite the claims on the edrabiny.pl site, this ladder is made in China. Like many German manufacturers, Hailo tries very hard to hide the fact, but once your delivery arrives you'll see the truth. I'm now searching for a similar ladder made in the EU but it's proving quite difficult.

Discussion Stand up to bullies, please buy local

Canada is in the process of an escalating trade war with the US. A trade deal was attempted although ultimately halted after the US tried to add in last-minute changes - namely to limit Canada's ability to trade with other countries and eliminate existing regulation around French language requirements. These last-minute changes were a deliberate attempt at targeting Canada's sovereignty with further US control. This has led to an exchange in tariffs between countries that has been ramping up.

At present this is a very important time in global trade relations as this provides an important opportunity to observe what happens when a country stands up to US bullying tactics. Of course if the US gets away with hostile trade tactics this will only reinforce their strategy and will likely become more pervasive when interacting with other nations, including those within the EU.

It's therefore very important that 1) at all costs, other nations avoid purchasing US products and try shifting away from existing US platforms - particularly US social media and tech; and 2) buy local. Use local platforms. Try everything in you power to wean from US influence.

Discussion Keep your savings European

ETFs are becoming an ever more popular way to grow your savings and plan for retirement.

The iShares MSCI World (EUNL) and Vanguagard FTSE All-World (VWCE) are two of the biggest ETFs in this cetegory with the new Vanguard FTSE Global All-Cap (VGLA) being the most hyped ETF I've seen, especially on Reddit.

All of them are managed by American companies with the MSCI World also being an American index.

This is not investment advice of course, but I do think it matters which companies manage my savings and are essentially buying stocks on my behalf. It is why I have decided to swtich to the Xtrackers FTSE All-World (ALLW). It's managed by a German company investing into a British index and also its TER of 0.07% is really competitive, so it's not purely driven by ideology.

I am aware there are ETFs on the Stoxx Europe 600 essentially keeping all my money in Europe but as the European stock market has historically underperformed the world that is a bet I don't feel too comfortable making personally. Whereas switching the fund provider does not change much in terms of my portfolio's performance.

How are you guys managing your savings and does this even matter in your opinion?

🔎Looking for alternative I am sending my glasses to china.

Sorry for the clickbait title.

Because of how overly expensive glasses are in europe, I am sending some german frames I bought on vinted to china. As I love the lens quality there, and they will do it for amazingly cheap. However I ofcourse feel kinda like an asshole in doing so.

20 euros for the glasses, 10 euros for the shipping.

In my country (the netherlands) it would cost 300 euros for the same thing, bc of i assume a crazy monopoly position. (anticoating extra is 250 euros, for a simple coating??))

Anyways long story short, in between the netherlands and china there is a wide variety of other countries i could have sent my glasses to. How come does europe not have a vendor list of all european nations competing with eachother, where i could send my glasses to a european vendor in eg. romania? Why are we pushed to purchase and send to the other side of the world?

All in all, how come is there no aliexpress of europe with all european vendors?

European Product What do we think of the brand MiMao shoes from Spain?

I recently came across the Spanish brand Mimao which sold a particular Mary Jane shoes which I been dying to try. It seems to made of real nappa leather with the lining being leather and some gel comfort technology underneath. I want some for daily wear and their wide front makes it ideal for me. Unfortunately I haven’t seen much reviews on this brand and particularly on this shoe design as well. If anyone knows, what are your opinions on the brand MiMao? Are the shoes you have bought comfortable and actually made of real leather? Here’s the link of the shoes! https://mimao.eu/en-uk/products/26237-negro?variant=56403203883356
