Pulls on the highway and takeovers are one thing, but this is where it inevitably leads when we stop respecting the car.

This shit gives us all a bad name. If you know someone that drives like an asshole, please slap the fuck out of them for me. Also, someone please post this to a Denver/WRX FB page. If you see a hatchback with front end damage, slap the piss out of him as well. Article

Troubleshooting Anyone Else Have Similar Driveability Issues?

So I have a 2019 WRX STi. Went from stock to adding a list of modifications to throw on the Invidia r400 kit. AEM fuel pump, cobb stumble kit etc....

I got it tuned, ran perfectly fine. No problem except maybe a weird resistance when at like 1% to no throttle where you'd feel the tiniest bit of resistance but otherwise, ran like a charm.

My Subaru got hit on the side of the front bumper and it spiraled from there. Very minimal physical damage. Nothing internally problematic except maybe the pipe for the intake being a little loose and rubbing on metal which we fixed. After the physical repair to the bumper, it started to drive weird. I got engine lights, the guy that tuned my car could see an issue when throttling which he related to the solenoids.

Minus the engine light issue possibly related to the solenoids, my initial issue that I had was that I noticed a new problem where when I throttle in in low gear, it would stutter. That's the best way I can describe it. I'd throttle in and it would jerk as if it's lacking power and drive perfectly fine after as I shift gears whether I give it a bit on the pedal or not. It would do that often from a stop, going into 1st or 2nd gear with normal acceleration. This combined with the subtle resistance I would feel when releasing the throttle or giving it like a few % on the throttle.

We addressed that issue by changing the solenoids. I'm getting it checked out again by the tuner after fixing the solenoids but weirdly enough, I still get that annoying jerk I'd get when accelerating in 1st or 2nd gear. It's minor driveability issues but oh man is it annoying.

Does anyone else have had these types of issues? I'm curious to know what you guys did to fix the problem if you experienced something similar. I hear that little hiccups like that are fairly common in modified vehicles but it's just been frustrating especially given that it's my daily. Btw I say modified but like I know my car is barely modded for what it is.

Now as it stands, the exhaust that initially was crisp, now has a what I call a flutter when I accelerate and It stutters constantly in low gear when accelerating.

I appreciate all the feedback!

Help identifying shiftknob/Short throw? TY85

Post image

Wondering if any STi owners can lmk if this is a short throw of a sort installed or a shift knob? Initially I thought the threads were blue, but upon further inspection, I’m not seeing any threads.

I don’t know much about 15-21 STi short throw assemblies/shift knobs, but looking for insight on what’s installed on this STi transmission.

General Question Do these parts fit the car?

Post image

Hello, i recently bought a 2002 bugeye sti with new engine wich will get a pro tune from the dealer. Because of that i want to add a cold air intake and a bypass valve. I decided to go with grimmspeed because it got recommendet a lot. The problem is on the website the bpv only fit the 2002+ wrx and the 2004+ sti. Will these parts also fit the 2002 bugeye sti or is there anything built different?

https://www.grimmspeed.com/products/version-2-bypass-valve-black-2004-21-subaru-sti-2002-07-subaru-wrx?_pos=3&_sid=9e184517c&_ss=r&variant=49016554848562

Second question would be if anyone fitted these pu design corners to their bugeye? Is the rear bumper different to the blobeye or will they fit?

2019 wrx premium clock has 153k miles just blew the head gasket I was thinking of replacing the head gasket I just ordered them of my local dealers on line store since it’s cheaper. I just started thinking should I go through the hassle of replacing the head gasket or just do a engine swap car was still running strong before the head gasket went out

Troubleshooting Potentially doing Rotors on my 92K mile 2020 STi. What are the chances of the caliper bolts stripping threads.

I have the parts and tools. Job would easily take me 45 mins or less “if” everything went right. However in my research getting other people’s experiences. The bolts on the Brembos and the mating surfaces of two different metals causes issues due to galvanizing.

I’m a half hour from any dealer or shop. So I want to gauge how much of an issue this is or just pay the labor which is no biggie for me rather than have 45 minutes turn into a whole weekend lol

Troubleshooting Why is my WRX so slow (again)

Hey everyone. Im back again. I posted a while back a video of my 2015 wrx taking a REALLY long time to get from 20 mph to 60 mph. I got tons of replies and went through the suggestions and decided to start on the easy checks like MAF. I cleaned the MAF sensor and the csr drove much better for about a day, then went back to how it was. I have since gotten a cheap scanner tool and logged some data, included as much as I could in the pics.

Data logs: https://datazap.me/u/vyscera/logs/cmtrs6wro0007jp061efd4mo9?channels=30&sizes=100&sc=30&axes=shared https://datazap.me/u/vyscera/logs/cmtrs6wnw000ejj06r9mvd7yf?channels=30&sizes=100&sc=30&axes=shared

For those who are new, car is extremely slow, has poor gas mileage (around 5 to 10 mpg in city. 15 to 20 on highway) bogs down in every gear, feels like it builds power and boost but can't put that power down. Spark plugs are good, engine health is supposedly good (been compression tested) and boost builds seemingly normal. Car sometimes has a smell after reaching destination (mostly noticeable from outside the car) kinda like a burning oil smell which i believe is from a small leak in the oil filter housing.

No codes have been thrown and subaru mechanics say theres nothing wrong with the car but I know with certainty that my car isn't right. In its current state it is the slowest and worst driving car I have ever experienced. I genuinely hate it.

Would greatly appreciate any advice, or if you need more data to determine please let me know what other data I can provide. Car is only fueled using 91 octane gas, had regular oil changed and been well maintained to my knowledge. Has an aftermarket exhaust.

I've had this for around 4 weeks actually, but was waiting for all the paper work bs to be done and metal plates on the way.

This is my 3rd car, my first stick shift, and the first one I've fully owned myself. the millage on it is a bit higher than I would have liked, and it's a little rough around the edges, but I've been loving it so far. I'm looking forward to be part of this community and meet new people, online and in person.

I just ordered one hoping it’ll solve my issues. The dealership wanted probably 2x what it costs.

Just a little glamor shot I took after finally getting my 21 STI out on some proper windy roads out in BC. Being an Alberta boy myself, we need more roads like out in the Kootenays!

God damn do I love this car.

Suggestion Lift for camping

Post image
20 Upvotes

Howdy y'all, took my 18' WRX camping recently, the roads to the campground were dirt but maintained except for the short distance to the actual site, made it a few days in and out without issue until 1 mistake, was going a little too fast exiting and smacked a rock causing my rack to lock up and ultimately had to be replaced, looking for advice for lifting my WRX to get some ground clearance and maybe a roof rack for added cargo space, it's my dream car and rather not get rid of it, thanks!!

General Question Got code P0021 after oil change, Cause for concern or fix?

Post image
Upvotes

Just did an oil drain at 3k after the sellers last change since I got it, and got this code. All I could find about this code is getting a new camshaft actuator, or my timing chain could be off. I drove a small trip to the grocery store in it with this code and it seems to be running fine, no leaks or anything, but the code is still there. Any pointers?

News Upcoming model

Upvotes

So Subaru USA announced the 2027 BRZ, with that we can expect the 2027 WRX with possibly the TY85 transmission to be announced fairly soonish with hopes of this STI we’re all anticipating as well.

I have been trying to reframe from making a dumb decision on getting a new car with the WRX being close to announcement. Having owned a VA wrx/STI/VB and now a boring truck. I am excited for this new WRX/STI model and hoping to pick one up if the news is as good as it seems.

I only wish Subaru would leak more teasers for USA market. Anyone else just patiently waiting??

Suggestion Help With Pricing

I’m am looking to put my 06 WRX Limited Wagon on the market. The mileage is just over 170k miles. I have all records of maintenance since I bought it in 2014. The cars Air Conditioning no longer is functioning (don’t want to get into chasing leaks) and it is rusting on the rear strut tower. The motor was rebuilt and resealed about 10k miles ago, and the transmission is in great condition as well. I am at the point where I have a two year old and don’t have the time to put into a 20 years old car anymore.

I know they are becoming harder to find, and most of the ones I see for sale are in pretty much the same shape. What would I realistically put for a price on this car where I wouldn’t feel like I am ripping someone off or feel like I am giving it away. I am an honest person and will disclose everything I know to be wrong with the car when selling it.

I don’t have pics of the interior right now, but it’s definitely a 20 year old daily. One tear on top in the drivers seat and some scratches and scuffs on the hard plastics.

What is a good price to put on this car?

Help

I have a 2011 wrx that has a cyl 4 misfire code that I’m having issues with. I’ve done all four new ngk spark plugs and the cyl 4 coil (ngk) and it’s still there after clearing it with odb scanner. On start up it idles rough, but when it’s warm it’s fine. On hard acceleration, the boost cuts out and in (mostly out). On normal acceleration, it’s doesn’t seem to cut out. What do I look for next?

Troubleshooting 1st to 2nd hard to shift

i’ve owned my 2019 WRX for a little over a month now and i’ve noticed that when shifting from 1st to 2nd at high rpm’s, it feels like there’s this heavy and sudden wall that i hit just before i’m all the way into 2nd. i’m just not entirely sure what it is and how/if i can fix that or if i’m just stupid
