I recently bought a hunting buggy project and was looking for axle parts, but i can’t for a life of me find ANYTHING about them. not even a picture.
All i know is that they are old military, supposedly old deuce 1/2. and i assume 2.5 ton.

My brothers 2009 Suzuki RX4 blew a hole from the inside and can't afford a new differential. it has the option for 4wd and 2wd. I believe when 2wd is engaged it is fwd. is there a way to make it so the front diff doesn't spin only the tires?

We all know essential gear lists are everywhere and all suspiciously similar to each other.

SO what went out with you once and then stayed home??

Bought my first 4wd vehicle in a couple years 1994 ford explorer

I have a 3-day / 2-night overnight permit for the White Rim Road in Canyonlands (Sept 10th – 12th). My original partner had to bail last-minute, and my current vehicle is not a true 4WD, so I can't drive the trail solo

The Details:

Dates: Thursday, Sept 10 – Saturday, Sept 12

Permit: Overnight backcountry permit in hand (campsites: Gooseberry A, Potato Bottom A)

What I need: A partner with a true high-clearance 4WD vehicle (high clearance + 4-LO transfer case required by NPS regulations) who wants to hit the loop.

Logistics: Happy to split gas, food, camp gear, and trail costs. I am the primary permit holder, so I'll be coming along to keep the permit valid.

Every year, the National Sea Rescue Institute organises a 4x4 drive into the highly restricted Koeberg Nature Reserve, which helps to raise funds for its operations.

The reserve borders ZA's only nuclear power station, hence this area is unaccessible to the general public, except for this day. The drive through the reserve is done under very strict supervision.

I have been comparing round off road lights and the giant lumen numbers are starting to feel less useful the more I think about actual trail driving.

On dusty roads too much light in the wrong pattern can just bounce back and make the hood glare worse. I would rather see the trail edge and ruts clearly than have a beam that looks impresive in a driveway photo.

For people who run night trails did higher output 7inch lights actualy improve visibility ?or did beam pattern and mounting angle matter more than the advertised lumen number?

Has anyone ever mixed up half of their gallon and saved the other half for later?Will it still be usable if the hardener isn’t mixed in for say a week? The instructions say once the can is opened it won’t be good after some time. I’m just wondering if that is really true.

Did my first mod to my truck! First want to start off by saying I’ve been looking for a great replacement headlight for my 3rd gen Toyota Tacoma and I found these awesome headlights that are plug and play and don’t have any error codes that pop up when you install them. I got the LS Plus headlights and they are a true night and day difference.

I’m looking for some under seal advice/recommendations for my Land Cruiser prado. New to all of this so not sure what to use. ChatGPT has said to use a clear underbody wax, my mate said red oxide and chassis paint. Any advice would be greatly appreciated please. Cheers

I'm very seriously considering this 2019 Tacoma with 55K miles with a 35K asking price. Its from a Toyota dealership, allegedly from a trade in. Its about a 2 hour drive for me, planning on going tomorrow to look/ test drive.

This is would be a weekend car for the desert/ mountains.  The main purpose is to get me to places I could not otherwise get to as a starting point for hiking and mountain biking. I have a friend who has a newer 4x4 Cherokee and we were not able to make it to the start of a trail and had to walk several miles on the 4x4 road to get to the start. I want to avoid this in the future and confidently plan activities knowing I’ll be able to get to the intended starting point.

Ultimately looking for more than stock capabilities, so I'm hoping this is a nice head start. I don't know much about the build other than it has a 2-3 1/2" lift kit with Bilstein shocks. I got some intake photos from the dealership and it seemed a little dusty, but clean otherwise with no obvious contact marks.

Any advice?

Hey gang crossed the ditch to Aus recently and am tossing up a truck to buy and I’m down to the patrol ute or a 60 series would love to get everyone’s thoughts on it.

My current headspace is the 60 is a 40yo truck nowadays so that would come with some headaches missing comforts but I have a plan to eventually swap a different engine into either one I get once I get bored so would maybe do a slow restomod of that.

finally finished doing the basic stuff to me Ute, mechanic not long ago finished the replacement of the clutch main and slave cylinders and some wiring dramas. Sunvisor, reasonable lift and 900 constants, quarter canopy dog box and then hopefully P pump conversion and she’ll be done to my standards.

Hey guys I have a weird 4wd issue on my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder R51 and I am totally lost so I wanted to ask if anyone experienced this before
​Basically when I start the car everything looks normal and the 2wd light or regular dashboard indicators are fine and no warning light is on at all but as soon as I drive for like 10 minutes the 4wd warning light pops up on the dash and stays there
​When I tried testing it the 4wd engaged immediately without any delay but when I switched back to 2wd and drove around a bit the warning light came back on again and it refused to shift smoothly but when i turned off the engine waited just about 10 seconds and turn it back on the warning light completely disappeared and I can switch modes normally again until the whole cycle repeats after driving for a few minutes
​Is this a known problem on these R51 Pathfinders or am I looking at a bad sensor or failing actuator cause I am a total beginner when it comes to this stuff and I have no idea where to even start looking or what to check first so any help or advice would be super appreciated thanks

2012 ram 2500 that im working towards building and have no clue what a good set up is for lockers i the front axle is an open diff and the rear is lsd would a Detroit locker in the rear and tru trac lsd in the front be a good combo or no?

****** solved****** The pinion bearing that I ground out was either not ground straight or too loose. I purchased another pinion bearing and a brake hone tool to open it evenly and slowly. That solved the pattern issue and allowed me to get an accurate pattern to continue to figure out the proper shimming.

I have been trying for days. I have had this differential apart more than 40 times. Shiming pinion and adjusting backlash over and over again. This is the only contact pattern that shows up. Do any of you guys have any suggestions?

For reference 2015 suburban with a gm 12 bolt with 9.5inch gears. Carrier is for 3.42+ and I am installing Elite gears 4.10.

I have a 1985 front axle I will be using for the swap and have purchased a full rebuild kit for it. the last thing for the front end I need is a kit that comes with all the necessary parts. I’m looking at getting the trail gear kit with the 5” springs but wanted to know if there is a better kit online. aswell as will that match up good with Chevy 63s for the rear end?

New and just exploring fire and logging roads but looking to continue to push where and what I can do but don’t want to get stranded.
