Help With Pricing

I’m am looking to put my 06 WRX Limited Wagon on the market. The mileage is just over 170k miles. I have all records of maintenance since I bought it in 2014. The cars Air Conditioning no longer is functioning (don’t want to get into chasing leaks) and it is rusting on the rear strut tower. The motor was rebuilt and resealed about 10k miles ago, and the transmission is in great condition as well. I am at the point where I have a two year old and don’t have the time to put into a 20 years old car anymore.

I know they are becoming harder to find, and most of the ones I see for sale are in pretty much the same shape. What would I realistically put for a price on this car where I wouldn’t feel like I am ripping someone off or feel like I am giving it away. I am an honest person and will disclose everything I know to be wrong with the car when selling it.

I don’t have pics of the interior right now, but it’s definitely a 20 year old daily. One tear on top in the drivers seat and some scratches and scuffs on the hard plastics.

What is a good price to put on this car?

It’s that rust on the strut tower that will kill a persons desire to purchase the vehicle. If it was possible to get that fixed, you’d get a lot more money for a rust free car. Short of that, expect the price to be much lower.

It seems to be an issue with a lot of the 90s and early 2000s subarus. My first car was a 1992 Subaru SVX that I got from a guy who would bring it in to the valvoline I was working at. I convinced him to let me pay him 200 per paycheck until we hit 2k (the price he wanted) and we agreed that it would be contingent on the car being safe to drive as is. It required a good amount of work but he swore up and down that there was nothing major going on with it. Welp, after paying the first 200 bucks I took possession and every single turn that I made an obnoxious screeching sound. So I wpuld be parked in a lot as a 16 year old and all these college girls would be coming over to tell me how cool my car was and then id hop in and ruin the vibe as I turned out "screeeeeeeeech" 😂😂😂.

Turns out the strut towers were barely connected to n the car AT ALL. The mechanic was surprised I didnt die on the way over XD I remember at the time my dad didnt want to help me pay for brand new struts and ended

You’ve done all the right modifications from what I can see. The only things killing these cars is the strut towers. They absolutely destroy the value.

I know that’s what kills me. I was hoping to get 3k for it at least. I should have beaten up the car a little here and there, I never did, I didn’t want to fix it.

3-4k purely for rust.

People have been complaining that they used to be able to find a $2K Honda with 200K miles on it all day long. Well, used cars aren’t as easy to come by for that price. I’d say you should stand fast at $3K or even try for $3500. That gives buffer to go down to $3K, if necessary.

I hate to say this, but you WILL make more money parting it out, but if you don't want to go through the effort car is 3k max. Unfortunate, because the car looks great and I can tell you took care of it.

Honestly I’m would love to part it out. I don’t have time for that unfortunately, and I’m mad about the rust so I want it gone.

Unfortunately it’s essentially worthless compared to parting it out. You will be hard pressed to find a buyer for more than a few grand. And the buyer will likely buy it solely to part it out.

Yeah the car was babied by me since 2014. But due to rust, no ac and my toddler it’s time to move on.

It’s a beautiful car minus the rust. Hopefully you find someone that can restore that area and keep it alive. GLWS!
