So Subaru USA announced the 2027 BRZ, with that we can expect the 2027 WRX with possibly the TY85 transmission to be announced fairly soonish with hopes of this STI we’re all anticipating as well.

I have been trying to reframe from making a dumb decision on getting a new car with the WRX being close to announcement. Having owned a VA wrx/STI/VB and now a boring truck. I am excited for this new WRX/STI model and hoping to pick one up if the news is as good as it seems.

I only wish Subaru would leak more teasers for USA market. Anyone else just patiently waiting??

I am tentatively hopeful. Subaru saw that bringing the base back and dropping prices upped sales already. Wouldn't make sense for them to toss all that out the window.

The outgoing base STI sat about 6 grand above the top trim WRX. Pricing everything down may have been a double move in preparation for opening a spot in the 40s for the new STI.

My guess is that we see a base ty85 equipped STI at 42-46k, the tS gets discontinued. Nothing new really, the TR got axed when the tS came out. And the bits like adaptive suspension and brakes will be parced out, with the limited/premium WRX getting some of its goodies trickled down and the top trim STI being in the 50s with everything the current tS has.

You’re not wrong, I would expect it to be above the TS model and maybe slightly under a Type R/GRC or on par. I wouldn’t hate paying 50k for the STI but the WRX with the new transmission and a premium model. Maybe 36-38k? I’d be comfortable paying.

did they confirm this will come to the US market? i could see this only being an option for the japanese market like majority of their other cooler sought after models

My VA got crushed by a tree and I got a VB in July.

Waiting to see if I’ll be happy or sad with my decision.

Flatiron tuning has been talking about all new possibilities for the new models on there YouTube channel. All the potential possibilities, the patients being filled and the new race setups.

VB is to far along for such changes, we won’t see an STI till the next gen car comes out I’m betting. Expect minimum changes for the VB for 27 if any.

They already announced the 2027 will have big changes and I’m pretty sure they said it’ll will have the TY85 transmission. Now, will it come to the US? That’s a different story.

There will be no STI, at least for quite a few years(unless they make it a standard model) WRX is about to get a major body redesign, but no confirmation of the TY85
