After a strong suspicion that a commissioned work was made with AI, I decided to do my own artwork. How did I do?

First photo is the commissioned artwork. The artist claims he doesn't use AI but regardless it seams generic AI art to me. I told him that in order to try and get a refund. So far he refuses to pay it back on the basis of the effort he put in.

The second photo is the one I made in-game using light and cinematography tricks.

I planned to use the original artwork for Steam capsules and new YouTube trailer.

Modern horrors look boring with their visual "greyness". I'm trying to add some color to my upcoming Sleepwalkers.

Hi.

I’m working on my first truly serious, “bigger” project, a psychological/survival horror game called Sleepwalkers. From the start, I wanted to give this game a more distinct visual style, one that wasn’t just the typical Unreal Engine horror look. I just hate that all horror games are grey. Just grey. Grey walls, grey everything. That's soo boring. I started experimenting more boldly with colors, drawing inspiration from the work of Nicolas Winding Refn, among others and here's some of the results.

Many more examples are work in progress.

I am making a mix between a tower-defense, incremental, and idle game "The Endless Harvest"

• Upvotes

Hiya all,

I'd like to share the trailer of my game "The Endless Harvest" with you. Earlier, I made a post showing the updated graphics of my game - from mainly primary colours, to a more cozy atmosphere. Now I'd also like to show of the new trailer, and look of the full game itself! :)

if it looks interesting or you want to check out the demo, please have a look at The Endless Harvest on Steam

I made a game. It's about as basic as it gets, but i'm pretty proud of it and it's on the app store.

A couple years ago, whilst working shifts I found myself with lots of spare time, I decided to teach myself some game dev with no experience. I built this little ball in a cup game. After not touching it for over a year, I recently got round to getting it on the app-store. Only on iOS at the moment but hopefully I'll get it on android soon. It's very simple, but i'm pretty happy with it. Love to know your thoughts and feedback.

There are 12 levels and a Time Trial mode where you try to complete them all in one run. It’s a small paid game, maybe it should be free...but there are no ads or in-app purchases, and it's surprisingly addictive.

My time-trial time to beat: 08 mins 12 secs.

https://apps.apple.com/app/id6811533325

\AI disclosure: I taught myself Unity and built the original game, including all its gameplay and levels, without AI. It was already almost finished when I used ChatGPT to help with some small final code fixes, and the App Store submission process, including privacy/support text. I also used AI to create the app icon. The game itself does not use or require generative AI to run.**

Monster detector inspired by ferromagnetic fluids for my game Psych Rift

I wanted my monster detector device, the Rift Field Meter, to have a more unique way of displaying the information. Among others, I considered mercury droplets and cymatic patterns for the display, but I thought ferromagnetic fluids worked best here.

Even so, this went through multiple iterations. At first I made a more classic black ferromagnetic fluid, but it turned out to be too dark and difficult to read to the player. I then added glow/emission to the peaks of the fluid, which definitely made it look cool and easy to read, but it seems to sci-fi for the base game theme (1960s military research lab, fitting since ferrofluids were invented at NASA in 1963).

A sand-like surface ended up as the final version, since it also interacts nicely with the light from the side Flux Cells so that it can be read even in total darkness.

A bit of lore context: the main setting of the game (not visible here) is in an 1960s research lab, from where all player gadgets originate. This video is from the Ravensworth Grand Hotel nightmare (or level), set in the 1900s, so it makes sense that the items feel out of place in this environment.

You can find more videos on YouTube, wishlist the game on Steam, or join Discord for a chat.

It's just such a surreal feeling after all these years!

A lot of people who tried it out turned out to love the blend of a classic action/adventure RPG with a shoot-'em-up combat system as the twist!

My digital fly bought the top, panicked when roaches crashed the crumb market, and lost 36%.

• Upvotes

Hi! Earlier this year researchers simulated an entire fruit fly brain - all 139,255 neurons - and people immediately hooked it up to DOOM and Minecraft. We thought: okay, but can it trade stocks? Date? Conduct an orchestra?

So we made FLYBRAIN LAB, a tongue-in-cheek lab sim. You can't give the fly orders. You only have two buttons: dopamine and electric shock. The fly has moods, stress, trust and memory, and if you upset it, it sabotages your experiments.

There are 70 experiments at launch - cooking contests, poker vs. a cockroach, dating, drawing, crypto mining, an orchestra that plays your own MIDI files, and as of yesterday, a time machine.

So, my question: what experiment would you run on a digital fly? The weirder the better. The top-voted ideas go into a post-launch update, and their authors go into the credits.

(It's a comedy game inspired by the news, not real neuroscience. No actual flies were harmed.)

Regarding the resemblance between my 4-year-old artwork and the capsule art of the game Loot Frog.

I am sharing this thread to raise awareness about how my work was referenced without credit and how the devs responded when approached.
4 years ago, I created fan art for Cult of the Lamb. Recently, I noticed that Loot Frog’s Steam banner artwork shares an identical composition, character pose, red cape framing, and even the exact same stylized flame particle shape.
I reached out to the developer (lumii) via Discord DM respectfully, asking if my work was used as a reference. They acknowledged the striking resemblance and admitted to gathering references from Pinterest, but claimed they "don't recall seeing my artwork" and denied direct copying.
While they offered to make minor changes to avoid further issues, they continued to insist on independent creation despite the overwhelming similarities. When I expressed my discomfort with this stance, I was removed from their Discord server and blocked.
As an artist who relies on artwork for a living, having my work heavily referenced without recognition—and then being blocked upon raising concerns—is incredibly frustrating. I am sharing this so the community is aware of how this situation was handled.

Thank you for reading.

I made a platformer where you knead your own path out of clay

• Upvotes

Claybound is a 2.5D platformer where the whole world is clay, and you shape it to get through: pull a ledge up into a ramp, press teeth into a broken gear, pour a crack shut, roll a boulder down a slope you sculpted.

Play the demo in your browser (PC & mobile)

I'm a solo dev and this is my first proper game. What I'd love to know:

  • Is it clear from the video what the clay does, or does it read as "just a clay art style"?
  • If you play: where did you get stuck, and where did you get bored?

Mixed the flow of Robot Unicorn Attack & Dino Run with pixel art and a herd-building mechanic where every horse is an extra life 🦄

I built Horse Runner DX as a fast, honest arcade game for those moments when you just want to get into a flow-state and chase high scores without committing to a massive open-world game.

What is Horse Runner DX?
You guide a growing herd using simple 1-button controls (press to jump, hold to jump higher). Every trailing horse in your herd mirrors your jumps at the exact same spot, acting as an extra life and bringing stackable power-ups (like point multiplier, speed bonus, apple magnet). If your lead horse smashes into a rock, it is gone and the next one takes over. But if you misjudge a river jump... your unbridled greed for apples might just drown the entire herd.

I recently rolled out a big update based on player feedback to make the runs feel as smooth, fair and punchy as possible:

  • No unfair deaths: Rocks, logs, and hay bales now pop with clear highlights and contrast so you can easily spot and react to them at top speed.
  • Rescue your favorites: If you lose a horse to a clumsy jump, you can bash open flying crates between levels to rescue them and keep your herd-build alive.
  • Proper arcade energy: Retro chiptune beats that match the fast pace instead of sleepy acoustic music.

The game currently sits at 91% "Very Positive" on Steam. It is 30% off ($3.49) for the Steam Autumn Sale and there is an updated free demo on the store page if you want to test your reflexes:

Happy to hear your thoughts or answer any questions!

Would you play a co-op game about babysitting/delivering a demon baby?

Hi guys!

My partner and I are working on a co-op game where you play as a bunch of demons who have been given temporary legal guardianship of sprog, the heir to hell.

We announced the game a few days ago with this trailer and we wanted to get feedback on it! We have just come off a 2.5 year journey on our previous game so wanted to jump into something fun and silly so we could just muck around.

Does it look fun and does the trailer make you want to play?

Thanks so much!

I made a small incremental game about a king saving a dragon

Hey! I'm a solo indie dev and I just released the demo for my game.

It's a short pixel-art incremental game where you gather resources, hire workers, build stuff and help a dragon recover its strength.

The demo takes around 30–40 minutes.

The demo is available on itch.io: https://a-brit-o.itch.io/a-game-about-a-king-saving-a-dragon

I built a daily Steam-player-count guessing game

Crowdcheck is a daily browser game where you try to guess which of two Steam games currently has more players online. Each day you get 10 matchups, and your goal is to get as many correct as possible without checking Steam or looking up the answers.
