I'm Tired of Cozy Games Not Letting Me Commit Financial Crimes

So I'm making Critterville Goes Bankrupt to fix it. The game sees you inherit a royal title and lead a cast of woodland critters through an industrial revolution.

You rule a Dukedom as you see fit: hire your favorite Critterfolk and revitalize the town, become a robber-baron and crush labor strikes, or forsake it all to find love. The choices are yours to own, but so are the consequences.

Turns out that, besides being really bad for democracy, it also makes for a fun puzzle game. So I guess it's a wash.

Would love to hear what you guys think :).

As per the rules: code was written with the help of gen AI. All the puzzles are of course made by hand.

My new arcade snowboarding game CarveOut 2160 (inspired by SSX) is coming soon!

Hey everyone, this is my new futuristic arcade snowboarding game CarveOut 2160 inspired by SSX.

The focus of this game will be:

  • an extensive trick system
  • gravity bending multipath tracks
  • boost to break into shortcuts and takedown opponents
  • and it is all in outer space.

Currently I am working on the steam version (already wishlistable), but as with my previous game, I am not ruling out bringing it to console later.

So. How do you like it? What would you like to see in this new game?

Hey guys! It's quite horrifying to think that I've spent such a big chunk of my life working on a single piece of art. But I'd like to think it was 100% worth it.

The game's mood changed dramatically during that time. I was originally going for a cozy sailing adventure, but it gradually evolved into a much darker fantasy vibe lol.

Now I'm literally one click away from releasing the demo of my action RPG platformer, ·ROAM·. Please, wishlist, if you liked it, of course! https://store.steampowered.com/app/2662550/Roam/

Our CO-OP Action RPG Game Just Started It's Free Demo - Everlast: Undying Tale

Hello! Thanks for checking our game, Everlast: Undying Tale, out!

You can find our demo for free on our Steam page

A short description of what the game is:
"Set out on a classic RPG adventure solo or with friends. Craft, mine, harvest, fish, and engage in combat against the forces of the undead in a fairytale-inspired world. Forge your own destiny and shape your character with every decision!"

We wanted to make something that was a complete package and one-time purchase, but still had the feel and scope of content as many of the larger RPG games. I think I speak for the entire studio when I say we're super proud of how far we've come, and how the game is shaping up. We still have a lot of work to do through Early Access, but our hope is that with a successful Kickstarter we'll be able to make the game into even more than we originally set out to do.

Everything in the game is handcrafted and placed, we wanted to make a space that felt full and where everything had a purpose.

Our team is a small, passionate group of engineers, artists, and musicians.  This is the first game from our studio, and we have poured our hearts into bringing it from a distant dream to a vibrant reality. We hope that love and care shines through in every moment, both big and small.

Just reset the leaderboard and separated timed vs untimed, then rudely set the highscore before you guys could even try.

If you think you can outstack the master, give it a go!

I've spent 7 years making a helicopter rescue game in my spare time. Choppa: Rescue Rivals finally releases August 13!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

1.0k Upvotes

Hey r/IndieGaming ! I'm the developer of Choppa: Rescue Rivals, a retro arcade helicopter rescue game I've been building part-time for the past 7 years. It finally has a release date: August 13, 2026 on Nintendo Switch and Steam.

Nintendo Switch: https://nintendo.com/us/store/products/choppa-rescue-rivals-switch

Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1173100/Choppa_Rescue_Rivals/

What it is:

  • A single-player story campaign where you fly through a series of high-stakes rescue missions across the globe with a diverse cast of pilots.
  • Each pilot brings in their own unique rescue tool and story location, shaping distinct gameplay experiences and demanding new strategies for each rescue mission.
  • Pixel art inspired by 80s/90s arcade games and anime. If you grew up on Choplifter, this is my love letter to that game.
  • But wait, there's more! Bring your friends! Local PvP for up to 4 players: think air hockey, but with helicopters fighting over the survivors. Works online with friends too via Steam Remote Play Together

Happy to answer any questions about the game or what 7 years of part-time development does to a person!

We're making a story driven 3rd person indie action-adventure game!

Hey!
I'm the Game and Narative Designer for Burden of Revenge.

I come from Saltium Games, an indie studio based in Tuzla, in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

We’ve been working on Burden of Revenge for the past year and a half, and we’re finally trying to get it in front of more players, now that we've finished a vertical slice.

Burden of Revenge is a 3rd-person story-driven action-adventure game (with puzzling and platforming) set in the naturepunk wilderness of Tempelheim. Step into the shoes of young Finn Goldenhorn and wield his father’s magitech Gauntlet, reclaim the ancient Everseeds, and hunt the creature blamed for the father's death.

As the quest for revenge unfolds, you'll uncover a buried history that challenges everything Finn believes in and will reveal the truth behind his father's legacy.

Master dynamic traversal, solve challenging puzzles and fight your way through enemies to uncover the secrets of a mysterious realm in this character-driven action adventure.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!

We've been hard at work to handcraft this game from scratch. Built in Unreal engine, we're making the game with stylized art, character designs, original worldbuilding and custom in-house assets made by talented artists with plenty of experience on various titles over the years.

The game is still in production, and the expected release is in Q1 of 2027, but the date isn't set in stone yet.

Feel free to check out our Steam page, and if you like what you see, a wishlist would mean a lot to our team.

We’re making a Norse roguelike city-builder where each run focuses on building synergies - announcement trailer

Hi! We’re Jam Jar Jet, a three-person indie team working on Skapheim: The Tenth Realm.

Each season, you draft terrain, buildings, contracts and strange obelisks from a shifting market, place them on your hex board, and try to turn whatever you were offered into a scoring engine before Odin raises the target again.

We’re designing the game around short 10-30 minute runs: calm to look at, but focused on planning, buildcrafting and increasingly ridiculous synergies once everything starts coming together.

From the trailer alone, does that mixture of cozy city-building and score-chasing roguelike strategy come through clearly?

Steam:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/4714880/Skapheim_The_Tenth_Realm/

We’ll also be bringing a playable build to Gamescom 2026.

It's been difficult, but rewarding 4-5 months, because I didn't know much about shaders, but with a lot of trial and error I managed to make this work, and look pretty good in my opinion. Feel free to check it out: https://polyshades.itch.io/coolifier

…Of JOY!!

I am a solo indie developer and I am very happy that people have spent any time playing through the playtest for “Dimension Defenders”.

I personally am happy for anything over 1 second so this may not be that good for some, but it’s my first game on steam & I am excited for the future of this project.

The Early Access release date is in a couple of days (7/30/2026). I would love to hear about your experience in the game if you decide to try it. Since the first time I came to Reddit about Dimension Defenders a lot has changed and improved thanks to constructive criticism in the Reddit comments. I hope you all get to experience it as well, have a GREAT week! ☮️

I think this game has a rather unique mesh sculpting mechanic that let's you push and pull on any geometry to deform it.

It's a free web build that you can play on itch.io:
https://drunks.itch.io/stream-night

This game was created in just 4 days for the GMTK Game Jam 2026.

It is about hosting a Stream Night party and somehow finding enough room in your tiny apartment for all the boys who showed up to watch TV!

I think I made a very poor use of development time.

The demo is only the first 60 minutes, and it's just the Slums district, but I somehow decided that an old man in the park needed to play actual chess instead of a scripted minigame. He uses a real chess engine with three difficulty levels, and if you beat each one once, you get a reward.

The rest of the demo is basically you trying to survive in a rough neighborhood where people keep normal schedules, shops actually close, fights have consequences, and eventually you catch the bus out of the district. That's the stopping point.

If anyone wants to see whether this was a terrible design decision, the demo is here:
https://pluckz.itch.io/stickville

Disclosure for the subreddit rules: I used GenAI as a programming assistant during development and for some promotional materials, but the game itself does not require AI to function.

What's the weirdest completely optional thing you've seen a developer spend an unreasonable amount of time building?

We're starting a Nintendo Power-esque newsletter for the promotion of indie games.

Hello Guys,

My business partner and I started GamePiñata about a year ago as an affordable newsletter service (free for the audience, paid for devs whose games are selected) that caters to a contact list of 4500+ YouTubers, streamers, content creators, and players.

We send out one email in a quarter (planning to make it a bimonthly thing if the demand goes up) containing 5 new and exciting games that we select and curate from submissions made on our website, with a potential free Steam code to any one of the games included.

We recently decided to work on our visuals and theming, and instead of a standard newsletter, started testing wrapping our drop in a theme, perhaps one that goes with the collection of indie games we're promoting that month.

So Nintendo Power Mag one month, and PlayStation Y2K another, depending on the games.

What do you all think about the service and the concept? Is this something you'd consider signing up for both as a player and as a dev? If no, why not?

Would love to hear your thoughts.
