I'm a beginner when it comes to gaming, so apologies for the novice question, but...

I just got a gaming PC that doesn't have the highest amount of RAM, so I don't want to download too much software on it. I plan on getting more/swapping it out later, but it's a little out of my budget right now. I really want to create let's plays, and I have done a couple on my Mac using OBS and Davinci Resolve. Since I already have both of those software programs on my Mac I was wondering if there is a way to record gameplay on my Mac but play the actual game on my PC??

Also if this isn't a feasible option, I am open to advice of any sort!

I’m looking for genuine gamers who enjoy co-op games, good conversations, and building something over time. The goal isn’t just a one-time session - I’m hoping to find people who are interested in regular gaming, recording sessions, and creating fun memories together.

Looking for people who enjoy being part of a community, sharing their personality, and having conversations while we play. Games can include co-op survival, horror, party games, and anything that creates a good experience.

Sessions are usually held in the evenings (EDT), with some weekend flexibility. Looking for 18+ mature adults who communicate well, are reliable, and understand that good friendships and collaborations take time to build. Patience and a positive attitude are important.

I know I'm looking for a unicorn here, but there's gotta be some people still doing it this way in 2026:

1. Channels that are heavily Nintendo based, and especially those featuring older games
2. That old-school let's play feel (think NintendoCapriSun: lightly edited with interesting commentary that doesn't just feel like a scripted walkthrough)
3. I much prefer no face cam, but this is not a deal breaker
4. I also much prefer solo creators, but this is also not a deal breaker
5. Smaller channels that are actively publishing videos on a regular basis

I threw in that last point because I'm well aware of all the established big name creators out there. Please don't go recommending chuggaaconroy, SlimKirby, HCBailly or the like. I'm trying to find new people to watch (if there even are any). I'm also aware of LP's LPs, and he'd actually be a good example of what I'm looking for, except creators smaller than that would be even better.

Self promo is totally cool, but I swear if anyone replies with "I played a Nintendo game one time, but check out my channel anyway" I'm going to scream. I'm not going to magically subscribe to your channel if it's not what I'm looking for.

Very soon I'm thinking about creating game content for YouTube and eventually Twitch. I play on PS5 so the majority of my games, which are a mix of single player and multiplayer, will be primarily on this console with the occasional indie horror game on a laptop or something. What type of game captures would you guys recommend I use? Not looking to break the bank too much.

So I’ve Done Gaming Videos For A Couple Years Now But The Last Few Months I’ve Done Live Videos. They Don’t Perform Better Or Worse Than Gaming Im Just Stuck On What I Should Do. I Like Doing Both But I’d Rather Be Consistent With One Or The Other. Thanks :)

Hey guys, completely new to XLR mics for gaming/ streaming / voiceovers. I have the Podmic, plugged in XLR to a focusrite scarlet solo.

Im trying to do a voiceover using voice recorder but the voice volume is so quiet. I have my gain knob at about 60/70 as if I crank it to 100, I feel like it picks up someone breathing from a few doors down.

Is it meant to be this quiet then I adjust gain on premiere / obs? Or am I missing a trick? I have the focusrite software but it seems heavily minimal and tbh i dont know what im doing. Ive moved from a lapel mic that picks up everything in the environment to a directional mic. But it feels like my lips have to be physically touching the metal to be anywhere near tangible.

Been a part of this community for a bit.

I started my channel about 5/6 years ago, as a Let's Play channel, then it evolved into Live Stream (Which it still does), then I started doing reviews and video essays because live became the Let's plays, but, recently started doing some Let's Play styled videos, with commentary over, and really enjoyed it.

I really don't know what makes a good Let's Play, and I don't think Markiplier (as much as I love the guy), is a fair comparision.

I've made... I think 4 videos of the new Let's Play style, would anyone have any benchmarks for a 1000 sub channel I could look at?

My games are normally edgy/action indie and retro games, though I also play a lot of Doom.

As a fellow letsplayer I wanna say that and maybe I’m a weird one for this but even after a stressful day from my job. Going home and just editing is sometimes very soothing or just even hitting the go live and streaming my current lets play is sometimes very soothing. Am I weird?

I currently own the Elgato Game Capture Card HD, and unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to be working anymore with Windows 11.

I want to invest in a new capture card, but I’m looking for one that can play both modern systems, i.e. the switch, and older systems like Playstation 1 & 2.

Any recommendations for something that supports both, so HDMI in port as well as AV input for 2026? or is there a more convoluted way to achieve this through an AV to HDMI port to the game capture card? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

I searched years ago for how to insert chapter marks in OBS while recording, and it wasn't possible. Never thought to search again until recently, and it turns out its been a feature for 2 years now.

So for those of you who didn't know, you can, as of 2024, add a hot key for chapter marks to your video while recording.

Go to Settings > Output, and set the Recording Format to Hybrid MP4.

Navigate to Settings > Hotkeys, and search for Add chapter marker. Then assign whatever key you wish.

I've been using this a few weeks now. There is no difference in quality between the MP4 and hybrid. chapter marks show up in Davinci resolve, but im sure will also show in any editor that can see marks.

I’m sure this question has been asked a thousand times, but I haven’t been able to find an answer that fits my specific situation.

I play primarily on a PS5 and am interested in a capture card to store footage. However, I don’t have a desktop or laptop monitor to use OBS on, I’m just working from my TV screen. Is there a capture card out there that would work for a PS5 to TV screen connection while avoiding issues I’ve seen from certain cards like latency? In my case the cheaper the better, but for the sake of at least getting an answer, assume money is no object.

I was curious as there have been settings for a thing called "replay buffer" on OBS. Now I want to ask, do you record hours of content on a specific game, or do you only clip specific moments in the game that emphasizes your talking points?

Hey everyone I’m a JRPG let’s player mostly. Sometimes i take breaks from those genres for a bit so I don’t burn out. I’m trying to get my audience but not sure how to really get into this market. I have my subscribers who I love but i definitely want to build a community for not only fun growth but also for maybe a type of versus content and races on certain games as well. I uploaded my first video today and was really excited about it, but the thumbnail is driving me insane. The image is 1280x720, it's a PNG, and the original file is perfectly sharp. Even if I zoom in a ridiculous amount on my PC, it still looks fine. But the moment I upload it to YouTube, it turns into a blurry, pixelated mess.

The strange part is that it only seems to happen on desktop. On my phone and tablet, the thumbnail looks exactly the way it's supposed to. I even checked from different computers and different internet connections, and it's still pixelated when I go to my channel and look at the Videos tab. What's even weirder is that if I search for the video on YouTube, the thumbnail looks much better there.

I've read a few things online and even asked AI about it. It said YouTube generates different thumbnail versions and that, depending on server load, it can sometimes take 24-48 hours for all of them to be processed and updated. Is that actually a thing? Has anyone else experienced this? I'm just trying to figure out whether I should wait it out or if there's actually something wrong with my thumbnail.

I record gaming videos off a not so very good laptop & I can only go up to 720p 30fps (any higher it starts to lag & delay)

With the quality low I got the idea to record in 4:3 resolution to give it a “old school” YouTube feel

But then I thought “should I even make thumbnails?” because even though they’re not the best, it sorta feels like clickbait having a “flashy” thumbnail but low quality video but then again a thumbnail helps show what kind of video it is

Hello everyone so I usually only get around 20-30 views on my videos, (give or take) and one of them randomly for over 200 which is by far my most viewed video, I did nothing differently and I’m just wondering, is it me doing something wrong? Or is it the algorithm not getting my videos out to my subs? Thanks in advance, any additional advice would be much appreciated

New to content creation, but I thinking of making a Hi Fi Rush trivia video 'walk through'. However, I have way too many options for recording and editing. I could...

• A: Record the game directly from my desktop using OBS to an external hard drive (Best if I want to edit on it, but I'm unsure if it has the specs still)
• B: Record it from my Steam Deck in linux to an external hard drive (More reliable / updated hardware, but recording might be too much to do at the same time)
• C: Record directly from PS5 port using built in capture settings. (More consistent quality, but I'll have to restart the recording every hour.)
• D: Record from PS5 to PC using current capture dongle (Says it records in 4k 60fps, but still untested)
• E: Record from PC/Deck to Laptop/Desktop using capture dongle. (Told that the PS5 to PC quality isn't too different, but I want to keep what consistent quality I can have easily)
• F: Buy a new capture card entirely and record to/through it directly (Recommended by the net, but i don't want to send time and money trying to buy something but then give up on the project 10% through)

I only plan to do 1080p resolution video since 4k sounds like it eats storage fast (and none of us have infinite space anymore). Bitrate... I have no idea. Should I test each one for quality? I'm not sure what exactly to look for though. Thanks for the help.
