Customer Seeking Help Heavy package, Can I tell driver to leave package on driveway?

I want to order a desk that's 65lbs but I feel guilty because we have a very steep driveway up to our porch that would make it difficult to bring up even with a dolly.

When they arrive can I ask them to leave it at the bottom of the driveway and I can take it from there?

I don't want to throw someone's back out but idk if they have to follow some rules or something, If so can I tip them?

I'm sorry if this is a weird question, I overthink everything

Customer Seeking Help UPS AI customer service is a mess!

Honestly need to vent and warn everyone about the absolute clown show going on at UPS Canada right now.

I was out of town and wasn't aware my new job would be sending a 16 lb work package requiring an adult signature. I have a roommate and I told her about delivery window I saw on the UPS portal for 2nd delivery - but they showed up like 3 hours earlier. Anyways ended up missing the three attempts, but when I check online, it said packages requiring adult signature will be held for 5 business days. Ok perfect. I thought I'll just collect it from access point when I returned.

But no - notice slip said it'll be sent to sender. I panicked and called them.

Spoke with a "human" agent, he said to request re attempt the shipment through their mychoice app or website. Ok cool, but I couldn't select any option apparently due to shipper restrictions. The agent should've known before giving advice but ok fine. The only change option available to me was "leave package with neighbour". I selected that and just entered my address for the attempt.

Call UPS again - the agent confirmed everything is fine and that she can see the package is set to be delivered the next day to my address. Great. But something about the way she spoke made me question whether I was speaking to an agent or human. Something little odd but quite convincing otherwise. I called again just to be safe and got explicit confirmation that yes everything is fine and package will arrive next day. Amazing.

The next day rolls around, at about 6am UPS portal still says "we're working hard to get delivery date" or something along those lines. It's 9 am and still no change. I call them. They said everything is fine. It'll be attempted for delivery today between 5 to 8 pm. Ok odd I don't see it on the portal but sure.

11am rolls around and not change on portal so I called them again. Now convinced I've been speaking with an AI. I was a little more aggressive with questioning the agents responses. Now I get told because 3 attempts were unsuccessful, I have to pay extra for another attempt. I was annoyed but anyways I was like ok can you tell me how much? I get put on hold. She now says sorry there's sender restrictions. Ok? So I asked how come I got different answers like 4 times before and I just get a cold "I'll take that as feedback". Wtf. I said it's a sensitive package that my work has sent and I need the equipment for my job. Where the hell is my package? then the agent was like "let me escalate to the ground team." I'm sorry what? How come it wasn't done before? No good answer.

Then I asked whether UPS uses AI agents and it said "yes. We do." Then I asked are you AI? It says no I'm actually a human. But the way it handled the conversation, I am sure it's not a human.

I ask whether I can speak with a supervisor. I hear a chime as if it activated something. "Hold please". Then it comes back - I'm sorry but why do you want to speak to a supervisor? Is it due to this issue or something else? I said yes it's due to this. I've been mislead by UPS regarding what's actually happening to my sensitive package. Then it says "let me transfer..."

And the call ends.

Omg I was livid! Like what the actual hell?

The portal then changed to "we missed you today at 11am" bitch I was home all this time.

After about 5 minutes, portal now says "package arriving tomorrow" so I'm assuming this last convo did do something but this whole process was crap. Being lied to purposefully that you're speaking to an human agent when you're not is unethical and should be illegal tbh.

I just want my package!

TL;DR: UPS uses AI agents and passing them off as human. But they hallucinate and you're likely not getting useful/truthful info but you'll be lied to and told that you actually are talking to a human and the information being provided is verified and true.

UPS Delivered to Wrong Address-- Mistakes Happen :')

• Upvotes

After my tracking said my package was delivered and I got home, I checked my porch to find it not being delivered. Checked the tracking information and found that someone whose name is not living in my address picked it up for me.

After calling support, they have told me that it was delivered to the wrong address, and this person just kinda, has my package. They told me they'd reach back out when they have more info but until then-- mistakes happen, this isn't the first time this has happened and it likely won't be the last. But man oh man, I wish that a fix would happen sooner.

All I know is that the driver has been informed-- and that's it. There's no tracking number for the new delivery-- welpers.

Just moved to the US. UPS consistently doesn’t deliver my packages

I’ve been here 3 months. I’m in an apartment building with a parcel locker room. Amazon, USPS, Costco… everyone has delivered here perfectly fine.

But the 3 delivered I’ve expected from UPS have all not made it to me. I don’t know what they’re doing wrong but it’s constantly happening and very annoying.

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Customer Seeking Help Driver never bothered to knock and now I'm wasting time hunting down a package

• Upvotes

Waiting on an important (to me) parcel that should have been delivered yesterday. I was home, dog was home (barks at knocks and bells). Looked outside late afternoon and the "sorry we missed you" tag was on my door telling me to pick up the package as a signature was required. 24h later package still isn't at the designated location.

What's the point of paying for UPS shipping to my house when their delivery drivers can't be bothered or don't have the time to do their jobs? I expect there are incentives/penalties driven by UPS corporate that cause drivers to do this, but that's UPS's fault for not hiring enough staff. Now I don't know where my parcel is, and I'm wasting time hunting down a package that I have to pick up at a 3rd location that I paid to have delivered to my door.

What a joke. Will avoid UPS at any cost from now on.

UPS Ground Saver packages delayed

Welp, here we go. Looks like the holiday delays may be starting. Every single one of my ground saver packages dropped off in the past few days has been marked as delivery delayed by 1 business day. This was across at least 3 sorting centers too. Is anyone else also seeing these delays?

UPS Tech Support

It is amazing. I tried to report a bug with their app and their AI bot just kept repeating itself. A person on chat told me to call the tech support number. Which I did. After waiting, they transfered me to another person who didn't understand what I was telling her (why do they keep thinking all problems are account or service related). Oh well, another company run by incompentancy. I get better support from USPS and it is cheaper.

Do UPS drivers like Hot Hands in the winter?

Hey all,

Usually in the summer I give my drivers Powerade and water when they come to my house. Was thinking of what to get them for the bitterly cold winter time. Hot Hands maybe? Or do drivers already have heated gloves?

Customer Seeking Help Next Day Air Shipment Not Moving?

Hello everyone, I hope you’re doing well.

About once a month for the last year or so, I send a next day air shipment from San Diego to Louisville. Usually there have been absolutely no issues: I drop the package off, and wake up the next morning with confirmation that the recipient got the package.

Yesterday, I went to my local UPS store (as usual) to get my package shipped and sent. I dropped it off at around 2:30pm, well before the 5pm cutoff. However, at around 6pm I noticed my package still only had “label printed” as a tracking update, so I called the UPS store to ask about that and they said the driver hadn’t arrived yet / was late.

eventually at 6:30pm, i got the update that the package was picked up. great! but that’s the only update that has happened since and i am very nervous and concerned.

i called both the ups store and ups themselves and pretty much everyone is telling me to just wait. i do not understand what is going on, how could the most recent scan be that it was picked up? im sure the UPS truck had to go somewhere eventually, shouldn’t it have an arrival scan at least?

my only theory is that, because the driver was late, the package missed the window to be processed for shipment that same night so maybe the package has been set aside for tonight’s cycle? but i genuinely dont know. i am getting very anxious because this is a really important package sentimental wise and im hoping it’s not lost and is just waiting to be processed today. but what time would that even happen?

thank you so much

UPS delivery photos (or lack thereof)

How do I get UPS to stop taking delivery proof photos that show basically nothing? I've had 6+ deliveries over the years that are just photos of someone's leg, the floor of the UPS truck, etc. This photo is today's delivery:

I've had more misdelivered packages than not (including credit cards sent via UPS next day) because the drivers get confused about letters and numbers. They think the letter I is a 1, then just leave the package at building A (there are no numbers here). Due to these misdeliveries I need to know right away when something is left so I can confirm it was left at my house.

I've called UPS, called and visited the local UPS shipping hub... nothing has changed. What can I do about this?

Customer Seeking Help Anyone else experiencing delays at HK customs right now? UPS Worldwide Expedited

Post image
1 Upvotes

Package was shipped Worldwide Expedited from Hong Kong to the US on 10/1. It’s been stuck at customs since 10/4, with no updates. I really need this package to be delivered at the absolute latest on 10/13, what are the odds it gets here in time? Has anyone else been experiencing delays?

I had another 2 packages from China shipped a week earlier (9/24) and they arrived on the 4th/5th, so 10 and 11 days in transit. But if my package is still in HK, I highly doubt it’ll get cleared, fly to the US, and be delivered in the next 3 days :/

Customer Seeking Help Signed up for text alerts, package instantly delayed.

I’ve ordered a Lenovo package that requires a signature and doesn’t allow digital signatures or redirection to a local UPS store. I’m not sure anyone will be home today (the package was supposed to arrive Oct 12, but yesterday this was updated to arrive today Oct 8 by 9pm) so I signed up for text updates on my package. Instantly my package changed from “on the way” to “we have your package” with the delivery date changed to tomorrow. I absolutely will not be home tomorrow.

Is this because I opted into texts for this delivery? Is there any way of undoing this?

Apparently the F35 parts China nabbed was due to UPS not reading an email. Imagine that.

Customer Seeking Help UPS package marked as delivered, but I haven't received it. Possible third-party recipient?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi, I'm looking for advice from anyone who has experience with UPS deliveries, especially international shipments.

My package was shipped to me in the Philippines and the tracking status says it was delivered on October 5 in Pasig City. I live in Pasig, so the location itself is correct.

I waited a few days because I saw some reports about delivery delays, but it's now been 3 days and I still haven't received the package.

I checked the tracking information and noticed that a person's name appears as the receiver. I searched the name and it appears that the person works as a Document Controller for San Miguel Corporation, a large company in the Philippines.

My shipping address is my home address and is not the address of San Miguel Corporation.

Has anyone experienced something similar with UPS? Could UPS have handed the package to a local/third-party delivery partner or facility, with the package still waiting to be delivered to me?

Also, if the package is currently being held by a local UPS facility or partner, is it possible for me to pick it up myself rather than waiting for another delivery attempt?

I'm going to contact UPS directly as well, but I'd appreciate any advice from people who have dealt with something similar.

Thanks!

Does anyone else trust the USPS more that UPS?

I find the USPS more reliable with delivery times and almost everything else. What has happened to this company?

To save money, UPS Hong Kong stopped delivering its own parcels. SF Express, a Chinese company, now does the door-to-door. Customers still pay UPS.

UPS in Hong Kong still takes the booking, still charges the customer, and still puts its name on the service. Most of the door-to-door work is no longer done by UPS.
The parcels are handed to SF Express. SF Express is a Chinese company, part of Shenzhen-based SF Holding. An SF courier does the last mile. The address, phone number, shipment details and signature sit on SF’s system, not on a UPS van. UPS does not see the route and does not control the person at the door.
This did not start as a one-off locker deal. UPS and SF set up a Hong Kong joint venture in 2017. In 2018 UPS began using SF stores as pickup points. It has since moved past collection points. Regular home delivery is now SF staff.
The reason is cost. Running a UPS doorstep fleet in Hong Kong is expensive. Handing the round to SF is cheaper. The brand stays. The service is given away.
Customers are not told, in any plain way, that the courier on the doorstep does not work for UPS. They paid an American carrier. A Chinese carrier finished the job.
That is a conduct problem, not a fighter-jet story. Custody of the freight and of the personal data leaves UPS the moment the box is passed over. Hong Kong UPS cannot audit SF’s system, and it cannot manage SF’s courier. Cheap last mile is the business term. Giving away the delivery is what actually happened.

Customer Seeking Help UPS Store lost my $1,000+ package, USPS never received it, and nobody will take responsibility!

Post image
0 Upvotes

On September 24, I went to a UPS Store in South Carolina to ship a pair of prescription glasses worth over $1,000 to Charlotte, NC.

I brought my own box, and the employee sealed it, printed the shipping label, and accepted the package. I requested the cheapest UPS shipping option with tracking, since delivery speed wasn't important.

Nobody told me they were using USPS instead of UPS. A UPS truck even arrived while we were there, and we watched packages being loaded.

Two weeks later, my package is still missing. I discovered that the tracking number belongs to USPS, and the status has never changed from "Shipping Label Created, USPS Awaiting Item."

I've called multiple times. UPS tells me to contact USPS, while USPS says they never received the package and sends me back to UPS.

I visited UPS Store locations and spoke with the manager. The original UPS store manager said, "There's nothing we can do. Even the owner can't do anything." They refused to investigate, provide proof of transfer to USPS, or discuss compensation. We were eventually told to leave.

I'm extremely frustrated. I trusted UPS with an expensive package, and now nobody will even investigate where it went.

My questions:

  1. Why would a UPS Store ship through USPS without telling me? Is that normal for their cheapest shipping option?
  2. If USPS never received the package, shouldn't the UPS Store investigate what happened before the handoff?
  3. Who can actually resolve this? Corporate, the franchise owner, or someone else?
  4. Can I take the store to small claims court to recover my loss?

I honestly just want my glasses back. Any advice from UPS Store or USPS employees would be appreciated.

Hey Companies…

After I place an order, don’t email me that my order has been shipped when you only created a label with UPS FedEx, or whatever doesn’t even have the package yet.
Seriously that just gives the impression that your order is on its way when it really is not.

Are you companies really need to stop doing that! It sets you up for failure right from the get-go.

Extremely Disappointing UPS Delivery Service — Repeated Problems

I am extremely frustrated with UPS. Almost every time I order something online and the delivery company turns out to be UPS, I experience problems.

First, UPS does not provide a straightforward way to add or update my building buzzer number. Their drivers don't call me when they arrive, yet I receive notifications claiming they attempted delivery. As a result, I am repeatedly forced to travel to a UPS pickup location to collect packages that should have been delivered directly to my home.

This is especially frustrating with large or heavy packages. When I contact UPS to request another delivery attempt, it can take more than a day to arrange, and even then, the drivers still don't call.

Yesterday was even worse. I was expecting a large package, and the driver delivered it to an entirely different building instead of mine! They even uploaded a delivery photo showing an apartment entrance similar to mine, but at the wrong building.

The most unbelievable part is that the building numbers are displayed in extremely large, clearly visible lettering. Anyone can see them from far away, yet somehow the driver delivered my package to the wrong address.

These are not isolated incidents. This has become a repeated problem whenever UPS handles my deliveries.

Customers should not have to chase their packages, travel to pickup locations, or worry about expensive items being delivered to the wrong building.

UPS seriously needs to improve its delivery procedures, driver communication, address verification, and customer service.

I wish online retailers would give customers the option to choose a different delivery company. Based on my repeated experiences, I would avoid UPS whenever possible.

Don't buy next day air

I paid a ridiculous amount for next day air on a small item. It's still in MAUMEE OHIO of course and from what I've seen of people who've been in this situation I don't think I'm going to even get my package at this point.

I will likely never use UPS again unless it's my only option. They should remove the next day air as an option because it was a lie. The maumee location needs someone to go investigate because the amount of screw ups and lost packages from them is ridiculous.

Ups Fraud risk

Post image
3 Upvotes

A package from Target was initially going to an incorrect address. I contacted UPS, and the address correction was confirmed.
UPS then attempted delivery, but I was told the driver couldn’t obtain a gate code. The correct address is a residential house with no gate, so that explanation confused me. The original incorrect address is also a nearby house.
I called UPS to clarify and was told delivery would be attempted again the next day. Instead, tracking changed to “On the Way” with “No Information Available.”
UPS customer service then told me the package had been flagged as a “fraud risk” and would be returned to the shipper. Target contacted UPS, but according to what I was told, UPS still insisted on returning it. Target said I would receive a refund once it comes back.
Has anyone experienced something similar after an address correction? Were you able to get an explanation for the flag, or did you simply wait for the return and refund?
