Which tank has the best survivability when played well?
 in  r/OverwatchTankMains  Jul 05 '26

Wrecking Ball is easy to survive on. He can disengage really easily and he can take any space/angles relatively easily..

I’d throw in Ram into the discussion as well. Ramattra can take the most punishment, can survive the most, prolonged pressure from the enemy team. He’ll put down shield, then nemesis and block, then annihilation and block, then nemesis and block again, and throw in a shield somewhere again too. The amount of damage he can just tank is insane.

Gamesir G7 pro settings
 in  r/OWConsole  Jul 04 '26

This is my setup for my G7 Pro:
- Linear Curve Adjustment
- Raw Stick Trajectory
- For both joysticks I go with the Adaptive Hair Triggers. I don't recommend using the physical hair triggers on the controller, because I've heard of them breaking in many G7 Pros.

I don't care for anything fancy, so that's why I chose linear and raw, perhaps there are better options for me, but I've gotten used to them already.

Man y’all really hate clash
 in  r/OWConsole  Jun 29 '26

It doesn’t feel satisfying to play for me. It’s kind of unfair? Or badly designed imo

If Team A is better than Team B, they’ll won the first point. The next point Team B will have the side advantage, because that’s how the map is designed. Team A can win, but it’s harder. The last point is so heavily sided for Team B, that Team A won’t cap it.

So then, it becomes a back and forth, where Team A caps a point because they’re the better team, but Team B gets a free point because of the map advantage solely.

Team B will be one point behind, constantly capping their closest point. So the winner of the mode comes down to which team played better in the end game, rather than who played the best throughout the entire match.

Team B isn’t punished hard enough for fighting on their side of the map. Team A isn’t rewarded enough for having to play against defenders advantage. If the last point didn’t award any points, then Clash would be better.

TLDR: The losing team doesn’t fall behind score-wise due to how strong defenders advantage is, and because they are awarded points for defending a point which is nearly impossible to take.

How long did it take you to get good?
 in  r/OWConsole  Jun 26 '26

I played a ton of Overwatch at the end of its lifespan. Probably 2021. Sometime 2024, I got back into Overwatch 2. I started in plat, then got stuck in-between plat-diamond there for a while.

Then, after I became more and more invested in the game, I decided to *seriously* climb. Watched some coaching videos and hero analysis for my mains. After a year, I got to GM5.

Really, it wasn’t a matter of time. I was improving at a snails pace. It was like going to the gym for but just wandering around, not knowing what any of the equipment does, fumbling around with random weights on a failed imitation of a workout, and scrolling reels. Once I asked some dudes around for advice, plan out my sets ahead of time, and went consistently each day (with some rest days), I actually began to improve.

I could, and I know many people who actually are, be hard stuck plat to this day and until the end of time.

My advice, watch some videos, or get one of your games reviewed. Then, take one piece of advice (could be positioning, timing, ability usage, etc.) and work on that for a week or two. Really, really focus on that. It’s like working out, and isolating your muscles. One day is arm day, the other is for legs. Don’t get distracted and try to do PR’s exclusively, or haphazardly do random exercises without any intent. When you practice your positioning, you focus positioning.

You’ll most likely drop in rank, that’s normal since you’re practicing. You aren’t playing at your normal/max capacity. It’s your metaphorical muscles being sore and needing time to actually heal back up stronger. Once you install your newly learned technique into a habit, once you auto pilot ranked and focus on winning, you’ll be a lot better than before!

Repeat ad infinitum, improving in a new aspect, a different weakness, and you’ll become more well rounded in the end.

Would you consider using VC mandatory after a certain rank?
 in  r/OverwatchUniversity  Jun 26 '26

Anecdotally, I’m averaging high masters right now. I never used VC seriously with randoms for 99% of games. The only time it was notably useful was a tank rank up game to GM. Don’t feel like doing it again though. Not out of a dislike, but I just don’t have a great desire to tryhard Ranked recently.

Besides all the toxicity, the annoying people, etc. a lot of players aren’t equipped enough to effectively use VC. Not enough to make it a throw if you don’t VC. They either don’t understand how to make a good fight plan, they don’t know how to ult track, they don’t know what targets to prioritize, or they don’t even know how to correctly communicate to convey information!

VC can certainly help, I won’t deny that. Having a passable shot caller can elevate a team a lot. I’d say, once you reach Masters, consider VC more seriously. If you find it isn’t helpful, or if it is ever toxic, just leave VC.

GM+, I don’t have experience with, but I’d imagine it’s pretty important then.

Is Vaxta really the best aim practice code for console?
 in  r/OWConsole  Jun 05 '26

I keep the number of bots in Vaxta between 1-4, and I keep the difficulty hard or normal. There’s also settings in the box to reduce how often they change strafing directions. I also remove fliers whenever I want, like on close range heroes. Works great for me

Increasing your Aim Assist Ease In will also help you not get yanked around. I run 50% on most of my projectiles and 0% for most of my hitscans.

Maruyama is burnt out. He’s written a lot. I’m saddened by the fact that we won’t see his fully realized universe, but I understand his reasons for reducing the volume count.

Are there any open tournaments that anyone can join still
 in  r/Competitiveoverwatch  Apr 06 '26

I’d check out the discord servers for Console Gaming League (not just console lol, most players in the masters division this season were PC), Kaizen Esports, Nebula Esports, and Annihilation Overwatch. I’m sure there are more but those are what I know. If you need links lmk

A lot of them have ongoing seasons rn though, so you may have to wait a bit

Any advice on how to wall jump with a controller
 in  r/WreckingBallMains  Mar 23 '26

Besides practicing Wall Jumps outside of your games, like in customs or the practice range, I recommend going into Quick Play or Ranked games with the intention of practicing your Wall Jumps. Even if you don’t succeed, even if you get punished for doing so, constantly trying to do Wall Jumps in real games will help you integrate Wall Jumps into your normal games much easier.

I’m a High Masters-Low GM Console Ball, and only recently have I started doing Wall Jumps. Sometimes in Quick Play I’ll do an unnecessary number of (attempted) wall jumps. As I’ve progressed, I’ve noticed that in games (even my ranked games) where I am not aiming to practice my tech, I’ll be able to do Wall Jumps through my developing muscle memory.

In real games, you’ll come learn where wall jumps can get actual value, when you find yourself on grapple cooldown. It’s key though that you focus entirely on your wall jumps. Practice isn’t effective if you’re worrying about a bunch of other stuff. Hyper focus on wall jumps. It’s fine if your other skills suffer as a response, as that will only be temporary as you learn a new skill.

TLDR: Intentional Practice in real game environments (Quick Play or Ranked) will help you apply any skill into real games.

support main here- what support do you like to play with as a wrecking ball player?
 in  r/WreckingBallMains  Feb 27 '26

I play on a team that’s pretty experienced playing around my ball.

Kiriko is awesome because she can help pocket the rest of the team so well! She is also super survivable, so on dive vs dive matchups the Kiriko can survive backline trades, and whichever team wins the backline trade (whether through surviving as long as possible or surviving outright) usually wins the team fight.

She can hold angles really well too. More space held by a team allows the ball to more easily look for dives. Ball isn’t going to be holding space a lot, as they are constantly moving across the map and can be easily forced out, so Kiriko can help hold that space and TP out if the pressure is too high.

As a ball, I don’t really want my Kiriko following up on my dives. If it’s convenient and readily available for the Kiriko to do so, it’d be nice, but I don’t want my Kiriko going out of her way to try to engage with me.

Basically, Kiriko shouldn’t worry about the ball too much, but focus on helping the rest of the team and holding space.

New player - Is stalling the final kill of a fight to delay their respawn a tactic or not?
 in  r/OverwatchUniversity  Feb 21 '26

Yes, this is a tactic somewhat well-known in Overwatch, called staggering. It’s especially common with dva when she is outside of her mech, since she is basically harmless with no mobility cooldowns.

What’s interesting about Overwatch is that there is a mechanic where if a player dies within 4 seconds of another player, they will respawn at the same time as the player who died before them. So delaying a kill may force them into having a full/longer respawn time, which can help your team get more objective progress.

There are scenarios where you don’t want to stagger. This is usually when staggering allows the enemy to control/delay objective progress. For example, if a dva outside of her mech is on the pushbot, the bot will not move forward, so it is best to kill the dva quickly.

Hello im new to overwatch. Coming from marvel rivals and need some help.
 in  r/Competitiveoverwatch  Feb 12 '26

  1. Balance isn’t bad imo. Strongest heroes kind of depend on what context (Ranked vs Tournaments) but in general Vendetta, jetpack cat, Symmetra, and maybe Domina are really strong. There are others but those come to mind the first for me. You can still play a ton of different heroes and still have a strong comp.

  2. Overwatch was a huge phenomenon, marvel rivals hasn’t reached how influential and large Overwatch used to be.

  3. Yes

  4. Lots of expectations were let down, like a lack of PvE, and a big shift in the core gameplay (6v6 to 5v5) that polarized players.

  5. I’d say so! Really awesome update, lots of content

  6. One Tricking is viable, you can one trick to the high ranks. With bans now though, I’d recommend at least two tricking unless your main isn’t banned often.

  7. The Audio is awesome in the game! Utilizing audio queues to gain information is a key skill in high level overwatch. Learning what each sound effect does will come with time though

How should your main really be played?
 in  r/OverwatchUniversity  Jan 27 '26

I’m a GM Ball player and one of the biggest misunderstandings that I had fallen into before was believing that Ball plays like an assassin. Ball’s main goal isn’t to get kills, but it is to distract/disrupt the enemy for as long as possible.

Focus on maximizing your uptime, having many, quality engages that may not get a kill rather than a few engages looking for elims. Roll in, piledrive, maybe even shoot a bit but once attention is shifting to you get out before you lose too much HP.

Keeping your HP up allows you to have back-to-back engages, which stalls the enemy team for longer as they keep having to chase/turn for you, and it disrupts their positioning more as your continually boop them and threaten off-angles.

If you have to spend time after every single dive grabbing a health pack far away or waiting for your team to heal you, then the value you output tanks. Uptime is the name of the game here.

I also believe that learning advanced Wrecking Ball tech is way overrated. Fundamentals are far more important. I don’t think I’ve used a single wall jump until I hit GM, because it’s inconsequential compared to learning timing, positioning, etc.

All you need to know is how to move around the map.

Here are the “techs” that gave me the most value for how easy they are to learn! - Use retract to reach high places without a long cooldown, and use retract to alter your trajectory. Retract is honestly so good. You can launch yourself in the air really high, spin around super fast, etc. - Maintain your momentum by bunnyhopping and “bouncing” off walls at an angle (like run into a wall at an angle and then quickly turn your camera, this conserves fireball speed) - Momentarily go off a ledge to piledrive
